Boateng was IMMENSE.

I cannot see Zokora or Huddlestone removing him for CM if he continues to play like that!

Jenas 8 - played very well

Boateng 8 - Man of the match

Lennon 7 - some great play good crossing

Bent 6 - played better than against City

Berbatov 7 - played well scored a good goal

Michey had Boateng as our worst Midfielder and General Levy had him as our best and Man of the Match. Who is telling the truth?

Evening General
I hope your ratings are an accurate assessment of our boys today. Particularly intrigued by your assessment of the Prince. I hope this is true. As far as Kaboul goes, I don't think that any of us should judge him to harshly this season because I actually think that this boy is going to settle down to become an awesome player for us. I know it doesn't look that way at the moment but check back here in a year from now.
Any way, great win today COYS!!

hehe in no way was Boateng my MOTM, actually I was calling for him to be subbed due to his petulant behaviour

On another day he would have been booked for sure, hope Ramos has a word to him about that

my MOTM Jenas, though the defence also did well

happy for O'Hara and for Ramos to give him a go, did very well, just wish Jol had the guts to give youth players a go in his time, something I think he did not do well in :-|

Robbo - 6 - Barely had anything to do but saved a couple of fierce shots and kept hold of them.

Chimbonda - 7 - Good display, seemed to concentrate more on defending today and made one glorious tackle in the penalty area.

Kaboul - 8 - Best game for Spurs. His long range passing was better and made a few great tackles.

Zokora - 8 - Didn't stop the whole match. Read the game very well considering he's playing out of position. Made a few important challenges and interceptions.

YPL - 7 - Got forward well but got caught a couple of times on the ball. Was very busy all game and coped well.

Lennon - 7 - Much better second half and put in his best cross ever for Spurs. Pompey couldn't handle his pace.

Jenas - 9 - One of his best ever games for us. He was excellent defending and going forward. Didn't stop all game and literally gave 100%.

KPB - 7.5 - Great game for him. Looked very comfortable on the ball and made some good quick passes. Seems to have a good understanding with Jenas.

Malbranque - 7.5 - gave his usual 100% and had a very good game. Lost the ball a couple of times but more than makes up for it with his determination and work rate.

Berbatov - 7 - Well taken goal and some nice touches as usual. Not one of his better games for Spurs but still top class on the ball. The goal will do him wonders.

Bent - 6.5 - Didn't have a great game but worked hard enough. Lacking confidence at the moment.

Subs

Defoe - 7 - Came on, hit the bar, tried a cheeky lob, worried the defence.

O'Hara - 7.5 - Everything he did today was excellent considering. Was very impressed near the end (1 minute left) when he beat someone and instead of crossing it, came back on himself and passed it short. Shows maturity.

Tainio not on long enough.

Ramos - 9 - the football was excellent today. Long may this continue. I'm sure it won't though, too good to be true. Be nice if it did for next week though....

Robinson: 7 - Did nothing wrong, positioning was fine and distribution fine.

Chimbonda: 7 - Worked hard.

Kaboul: 7 - Worked hard defensively and very happy some of his ambitious passing came off (players ran into space, joy).

Zokora: 8 - Fantastic performance, great distribution and in addition bursted forward several times with the ball taking pressure off.

Why Pee Lee: 6 - Worked hard, made one noticeable mistake early on but played well from then on, still a but useless in the final third though.

Lennon: 7 - Extra point for the assist and satand out peice of defensive work, otherwise poor crossing overall today, keeps cutting back rather than taking his man on in some situations and loosing the ball and inviting pressure, i stand by the fact he is still improving his skill set and by the end of this season will be getting solid 8 and 9's a game.

Boateng: 8 - Really got stuck in, earned a crap load of free kicks with some clever play, good positive passing, all around solid away performance.

Jenas: 9 - You have no idea how much it pleases me to give him a 9 at last, shown such massive all around improvement, he wanted to be a CM, finally he is looking like one. Passing, defensive work, attacking work, all around solid display and my MOM.

Malbranque: 7 - Hard working as usual but fell a little short from an 8 for me.

Bent: 6 - Trying very hard to reserve judgment on him still. But again poor performance, ran lots though.

Berbatov: 8 - There's a magnet attached to his boots and the ball, I'm sure of it. Great play again today and nabbed a goal.

=== Subs Used ===

Defoe: 7 - Lively and looked dangerous.

O'Hara: 7 - Fantastic debut performance, considering he is meant look much much weaker on the left in the opinion of some reserve game watchers on here, he kept the ball wall, positive passing and played a big key part in the goal.

Tainio: 7 - Did fine for the time he was on, don't recall him loosing ball, do recall him making a rock solid tackle.

--- Team Performance ---

The week in training showed (but it did with Jol last season too). Much improved defensive organization, movement off the ball, movement on the ball, closing down and defending absolutely all around the pitch. I'm usually view a game pessimistically but i think we completely took it to them, dominated throughout and looked like we wanted the win much more. Excellent away performance against a very good team. 8/10

--- Management ---

Not much to say, tactics stood up well, sometimes Redknapp look stumped as to what to do. Team choice - i was apprehensive seeing that defense, but they dominated for the most part and we kept a clean sheet so cant argue.

Subs lead to a goal and a chance was given to a lad who CLEARLY had earned one and he did himself proud.

8/10

:grin::grin: We can watch MOTD two weeks running woohoo! lol.

*RATINGS FROM SECOND HALF ONLY!*

Robbo - 6.5 - Not much to do really, one save from Kranjcar, but was stuck to the floor watching Nugget's header go over.

Lee - 6.5 - Made a few runs back and foward down the wing, pretty solid.
Kaboul - 7 - Made a few decent challenges, looked a lot more comfortable on the ball than he has in recent weeks.
Zokora - 6.5 - Didn't hear or see from him much throughout the second half, so that's a good thing.
Chimbonda - 6.5 - Very similar to Zoko, pretty inconspicuous.

Malbranque - 7 - As usual, made a lot of space for himself, and created a couple of chances, but gave the ball away a couple of times after we scored.
KPB - 7 - Won us a few free-kicks, which comes in handy. You could see he was nervous though, hopefully those nerves will wear off with games.
Jenas - 7.5 - Got back regularly to support our center-backs. He was quiet, but I didn't really expect too much from him today. I still think he's one of, if not the best tackler in the team.
Lennon - 7.5 - Apparently he wasn't too great in the first half, but he seemed to get his act together in the second. Created one chance for Bent, who was unlucky not to score it, and put in a good cross for the goal.

Bent - 6 - Not overly impressed with him. In 25 minutes, I only really saw him once or twice. Probably could have done better when the cross came in from Lennon.
Berba - 7 - Held up play pretty well towards the end, but also made a strange decision in kicking it out right by our corner flag with 30 seconds left... Took his goal well.

Defoe - 7 - Did pretty well, made two good chances for himself, one hitting the side-netting, and the other crashing back off the post.
O'Hara - 7.5 - From what we saw in his 15 minute cameo, there is no reason he shouldn't be playing more often. Simply awesome. Kept the ball well, played a big part in the goal, and almost scored himself. I'd start him ahead of KPB on Wednesday.
Tainio - 6 - Not enough time to show us what he's got. Should have shot when he had the ball right on the edge of the box.

Maybe it has to do with the facts that:

A) Portsmouth were unbeaten in 11 games and were currently 5th at the start of play.

b) We haven't won away from home in 8 months or kept a clean sheet away from home for the same amount of time

c) you are being rather pedantic

d) and finally Birmingham are shit.

am i right?

Probably because we didn't play better against Birmingham. If you think we did, then you have to take into account Brum are near the bottom and not very good, whereas Pompey are near the top and haven't lost in 11, and we've beaten them once there since 1956.

I can't remember a team performance like that from Spurs for a very long time. Pompey didn't look like scoring and we could've had 3 or 4. All this away from home against an excellent and physical team.

I'm now horny.

Perhaps worst but defintely not bad. I just try to be in touch with reality when rating the players. Yes we won but that doesn't automatically mean worldclass. :)
