No, he should have just passed it properly.

Chadli could have checked half a yard, fine, but there is no excuse not to pass that out of the keeper's reach.

Fuck my life.

Totally agree Soldado, at £26m, should have been able to make the pass. Just thought Chadli's run was poor. If it was a blame game, and a ratings thread is, then I'd have Chadli sharing 10% of it for his poor run.

disappointing performance overall to be honest.

The pressed us hard - forced the errors on us like we have done to others this season and we failed to do anything really in the second half -

One eye on the weekend for some maybe? I dont know.

Only Eriksen and Bentaleb for me can hold their heads up - everyone else was sloppy in possession and struggled to make an impact.

An average performance where we dominated posession at times but did nothing of note with the ball. They wanted it more, pressed us hard, disrupted our rythm and then we gave them some soft goals to boot. Simple. I think privately, Poch is looking at top 4 and the Cup. The Europa league had another 8 games including the Fiorentina ones before the final and that is a bridge too far with this squad. Clearly the Poch style has not taken over completely and its still a work in progress. But we were living the dream for a while innit?

Good - Bentaleb
Solid - Lloris, Stambouli
Average - Eriksen, Davies, Chiriches, Lamela, Verts
Ugly - Chadli
Pug Ugly - Fazio
F*ckin' Disastrous - Soldado

Lamela's ball retention was once again woeful...no wonder he was our most prolific tackler (such a sad indictment of his impact that our marquee signing, an Argentinian flair player, is commended so regularly for his effort).

I totally agree about Vertonghen having a good game until the fuck up. On that note, has anyone else noticed our players have a thing about shielding the ball in stupid situations where we could just play it instead!? Dembele and Walker do it loads. It drives me mad. They're not seeing the ball out of play, it's usually in dangerous situations - they decide to put their body in front of the opponents, even though the ball is in their possession, and it gets nicked time and time again

That was one game where looking at the ratings you would think we have all started talking in binary!

Good - Ericksen, Bentaleb, Lloris
Okay - Stambouli, Verts (good except for a horrendous gaffe), Davies, Chiriches
Meh - Lamela
Poor - Chadli, Soldado (just fucking score)
SOS - Fazio. 13 appearances, 2 reds, 2 PKs conceded and tonights goal gifted. (its an aggregate rating)

Soldado and Fazio do the basic requirements of their jobs and we are probably through.
Putting the blame at the feet of soldado and fazio is all well and goid but verts error was every bit as bad and maybe even worse. Maybe in begium there is no phrase of "if in doubt, kick it out"

Yes I totally agree with you and coincidentally I posted something very similar in the match thread last night. Can someone please pass these messages marked as urgent to the training ground !

Didn't get to watch the match and glad now that I didn't. Very few of the EL games have actually been decent.

Actually that's incorrect, I can confirm he did not give the ball away as much as his team mates.
Plus he created our only decent chance.

Far too often silly, silly mistakes and sloppiness are creeping into our game and ultimately costing us.

It frustrates the hell out of me. I didn't think Fiorentina were very good at all. Unfortunately at times we were worse and gifted them their goals.

Bobby should have passed it better or scored...at 1-0 up the game is in our control. Absolute shocker and we've paid the price.

Ratings???? Pffft...
No one stood out as a MOM contender - I thought our midfield of Bentalab and Stambouli were doing just fine until Fazio puts Gomez through. We would have had more chance staying in the game if they had stayed on and like other have said Kane for Soldado and probably Townsend for Chadli...

If we play anything like that on Sunday we'll get murdered.

We had a big row and a manager sacked before Ade got games last season . Surely something positive will happen soon .

We desperately need a good forward . We pay a fortune every week to a good forward . Surely surely...

Fuck my life.

Soldado shouldn`t have been passing it to Chadli in the first place, he should have been sticking it in the back of the net.

It was a comment on an unfortunate trend that Lamela's exhibiting...he gives the ball away an awful lot, it wasn't a comparison with his team-mates; there were plenty of others doing this last night as well, but more as an exception to recent form. He did create a decent chance, but I'm not sure that precludes him from criticism (you could argue that it was more soldado's run, but we'll save that for another thread).
