Good to have Modric back. He was superb. Understandably faded toward the end of the game but my MOM for allowing us to play with confidence and style.

Bale is astounding. Unplayable if you give him too much space.

Everyone else was excellent, except perhaps Hutton. What he lacks in technique and defending he can't quite compensate for with endless energy and attacking runs.

anybody that is marking hutton lower or indeed any player doesnt understand football or the spirit of the game. the team was great and made inter look fragmented at times whilst we were just a solid entity, a massive wave of unstoppableness.

calamaro carlo. much better hair than gomes. a (sometime lucky) 7
hutton. generally solid (apart from the obvious) helped dominate the ball 7
gallas n kaboul - 2 rocks. they ooze confidence. 8
ekotto. the braided one. 9
lennon. quicksilver.8
modric. decent enough.. 9
hudd. a rock . 7
bale. if you can read this you are too close (and are about to get incinerated) a white-hot 9
crouch. tallest brasilian on the pitch. thrives on the glory nights. 8
rafael- too cool for school 8

pav. seriously. if he gives the ball away again i'm gonna tatoo his name on my forehead and hang myself from my penis. - (on the) lash

wilson.. how dare you replace my hero. - 50 (lashes)

jenas. fucking ran around a bit innit. - mr whippy.

Er, whats the point in everybody doing their ratings then? Yes it was a sensational team performance and everybody played well but there are still differences in performance levels on closer inspection. You give Hutton and Hudd the same mark, I wouldn't agree with that but thats your opinion and I certainly wouldn't claim that you know nothing about football beacuse you rated them the same. Personally thought Hudd was very good last night, Hutton was decent but I thought most were a notch above him. I actually thought Hutton was better against United.

Stand out players for me were Bale, Modric and Kaboul. Having said that, everyone is worthy of credit. I don't understand the criticism (or 'down-marking') being levelled at Pavlyuchenko and Jenas. Pav scored and Jenas didnt exactly do anything wrong so I think it's a bit fair to mark those 2 down.

Am I the only one who was far more impressed with Gallas then Kaboul? I thought Gallas marshalled the defence brilliantly last night

CC 6 Sound performance, the saves being ones you expect a gk to make

Hutton 6 Still too poor with control and lacking in crucial moments
Gallas 7 Growing in confidence and looking a key part of the team
Kaboul 8 A really strong showing, making bad errors but then recovering strongly. Dawson-like.
BAE 7 Determined and resolute

Lennon 7 Crossing again a major weakness but drew the fouls from cynical defending
Modric 8 The lord of invention. Some careless passing in open areas, but the exquisiteness of his movement and control was inspiring
Hudd 8 Composed and disciplined. A quietly impressive performance.
Bale 10 Bale is a GOD

VDV 8 VDV is a Jesus

Crouch 6 Until he was on the end of Bale's cross, very weak, not least in skewing a shot that was best put across to VDV. You have to be in there to finish it, even if your grandmother could have done it.

Jenas 6 Terrible dive and not overly impressive. Composed without pulling up any trees
Pav 6 Again Bale. But he was there to finish it.
Palacios 7 Exactly what was required. Intercepting, tackling with discipline, then moving the ball on to the free man

I enjoyed the solitary vote for JJ - it amused me...

:clap:I just said on the Kaboul thread that I thought Gallas was absolutely superb aswell last night...I think some people need to forget the ex-Gooner/Chelski thing, he is a quality CB and he is a winner and you can never have to many of them in your squad

I thought Gallas looked laboured (but this may have been the time when Bassong was ushered out to warm-up)
also his forward passing is quite poor (esp, for ex Arsenal) seems more comfortable passing sideways.

no way.......

i am not a gallas fan, nothing to do with the arse thing, i just think he is a tool.
but...

lastnite Gallas was superb, he showed why harry brought him to the lane.
he will have poor games too, he is not what he was, but credit where credit is due, he was good lastnite.

In an unprecedented ratings review, Bale has stolen all of the other players' 10s; otherwise it would have been a full house of 10s. Best football we've played all season.

And what's encouraging is they've now had some serious game time with each other. Consistency in the back line is crucial, and they seem well matched with each other.

Both being French must help too. Hutton must be like "what are yous tawkin boot?"

Wow. How arrogant.

I don't think Hutton played well last night. That has nothing to do with the goal, it has to do with the number of balls he sliced or cocked up in other ways. It wasn't disastrous, but it wasn't good.

I've never been a fan of Hutton's, but IMO he's been good since he came back into the team this season. Last night was the worst display he's put in since that comeback though.

Also:

Roman Pavlyuchenko came on and was completely incapable of holding the ball up, failing to complete a pass in his 15 minutes on the pitch –

Yep well impressed with Gallas last night too.

He is starting to show some serious form, which he did admittedly say in an interview a few weeks back, that he needed fitness.

Could be a cracking freeby for us, lets be honest, he aint never gonna be a WHL legend, but if we did go onto do something seriously incredible this season, with him at the helm, well.. you never know.

Modric, also outstanding. He was awesome last night, I mean he kept out argueably the world player of the year last night, and I mean really kept Snieder quiet.

What does that say for him!

Quite simply, you cut out the deficiencies.

Let's not forget that they also scored 5 goals over the two ties, and that many moves which we created broke down to nothing, not to mention that we didn't finish all of the chances which we did create.

There's always room for improvement mate, always.

We did great, but I do think that we could have done even better.

, I agree there is plenty of room for improvement - like keeping possession more often after our back four win the ball instead of hoofing it aimlessly forward, or not relying totally on Bale's and Lennon's fast feet to get us into a position to score, and if we do we should at least provide them more often with support when they get double or even triple teamed, etc etc.

No, I'm being absolutely genuine.

Against Manure last weekend, Chris Waddle highlighted that the thing which cost us more than anything else was the quality, or lack thereof, regarding our final ball, and it's something which numerous other people from the game who have summarized our games have commented on numerous times.

I happen to agree with them. The quality of our final balls in attacking positions generally isn't that good, behind our finishing, it's probably our weakest area.

Just think how good we would actually be if we could sort out the quality of those final balls, (the number of chances we create would rocket), and the quality of the finishing, (the number of goals we score would rocket). It's a mouth-watering prospect for me.

Whatever fair weather fan.
