MOM Lloris

Credits: Fazio, Lamela, Kane & Eriksen (for their goals only)

Poor: Bentaleb, Walker

The rest average.

Good three points but a very disappointing and uninspired performance by us. If we are to be honest we were lucky as we were the second best team in terms of application and effort out there.

On paper that was one of our if not our strongest 1st eleven, yet people on this forum were advocating for us to play a weakened team against Leceister. I wonder how silly they feel now.

But its 3 points and another away win, objective achieved

Hopefully us. I think we're in dire need of new blood.

I don't trust us to spend it wisely.

I'd be recalling Fredericks, Pritchard and Veljkovic in January. We don't want any more nasty surprises where we find out after spending £x million that what we have at the club is no worse than what we are bringing in. Exhaust all options available to us before buying yet again.

Rose was absolutely dreadful. Lloris was excellent.

Started so well. As ever, didn't kill them off when we were on top, instead doing our standard trick of tapping it around as if we were on 88 mins and we were 5-0 up.

Eriksen was starved today but we were saved by his quality in the final third.

Need to get Davies back in to settle the defence and a much greater urgency and ruthlessness in attack if we are to get any points in the next two games.

Lloris - 9 (MOM)

Walker - 5 -- Just wasn't at the races today
Fazio - 7 - Had a good game, and was probably our best defender
Vertonghen - 5 - This guy needs a bit of a talking to. His decision making both defensively and with the ball has been pretty poor lately
Rose - 6 - Actually, thought he did well. Yeah, there were a few slips ups, but he also did a manful job of covering a side of the field where he got very little protection

Bentaleb - 5 - very poor compared to his first couple of games back
Stramboili -5 - also not his best game. often seemed a bit lost

Ericksen - 5 - yeah, nice goal. but he was a bystander for most of the game
Lamela - 6 - he worked hard. but no final product
chadli - 4 - just didn't show up today. and was a liability with the ball

kane - 6 - scored. worked hard. but also made mistakes

subs:
mason - 5 - couldn't get up to speed with the game. kept giving the ball away
soldado - 4 - much like mason, was bypassed. could have worked a lot harder
paul - (net)

MOPO - 4 - another odd tactical display. failed to adjust. was astonishingly lucky to come away with the 3 points

Fazio made some proper howlers today. How is anyone giving him a high score? Apart from Lloris we were pants.

Lol. He made one or two mistakes, letting Ulloa run behind him for the header was a bad one, but a-side from that he was nearly faultless. He won pretty much every header, he covered Walker down the right when Walker was inexplicably high up the pitch or for some reason wondering around in the middle, and he made crucial interceptions and blocks - not to mention he wasn't wasteful on the ball. Given what we've been served up by CBs in recent years this was brilliant

Lloris - 9 - MOM by an absolute mile, pure Lloris and why we got 3pts.
Walker - 4 - Looked incredibly and understandably rusty. Very bad game.
Rose - 4 - Dreadful defensively. Clearly Davies is first choice.
Vertonghen - 5 - Bit hit and miss, looked shaky at times, good at others. He's nowhere near as good as some think.
Fazio - 6 - Like Vertonghen, pretty hit and miss, but more hits than misses than his partner.
Stambouli - 4.5 - Looked way off the pace and game passed him by. Rightly subbed.
Bentaleb - 4 - Looked decent until missed opportunity then his game went to pot. I rate him massively but was bad today.
Chadli - 5 - Gave him a 5 just because of his assist. Other than that anonymous. He's a stats player aside from that he doesn't do enough.
Eriksen - 7 - Goal related score. His quality won us game again. He's our best outfield player, we need to move him to heap more responsibility onto his shoulders cos too easy to get lost in game.
Lamela - 6 - Worked hard as always, can't tackle as always. Had an ok game overall but Mahrez looked more threatening than him.
Kane - 7 - Good goal. Looked a bit leggy but worked hard as always, carried ball past players impressively but due to game not involved enough.

Mason - 4.5 - Stambouli rightly came off but thought we looked worse 2nd half. Had no control of centre of pitch at all. I don't think he's had a great month or so and controversially I'm not sold on him yet.

Soldado - 5 - Barely noticed him. He doesn't work near hard enough and the sub didn't help us at all.

Paulinho - net, nice bit of play in final minute though.

I think Benteke would be perfect but cant see him moving mid season after a long lay off....and Bony is well overpriced with Liverpool also bidding for him.

i hope so, i don't think we can go through the entire season relying on the same three players to deliver the goals.

On Bentaleb, though he was the best player on the park first half. Agree was poor second but even my Leicester mate text me at half time to say that he thought Nabil would be world class in a year or two. Think he's paying the price for a High profile miss and their goal.

He's very young and will have poor games, if this is as bad as it gets, we'll be very lucky.

Looked a little knocked 2nd half so would rest him against United.

I voted Walker. Slightly influenced by the Leicester fan standing next to me holding a gun to my head. And I had 2 vodkas yesterday.

After the first 20 minutes this game was screaming for an in-form Dembele to come on. And I mean the Dembele that can come in and boss the midfield and retain the ball.

Unfortunately that Dembele comes and goes and wasn't even on the bench tonight.

Fucking hell boys, you'd think we'd have lost by some of he reactions and rating in here. Ground out a good win against a side fighting for their lives.

Unbelievable: Hugo
Good: Fazio, Kane, Lamela
Fine: Mason, Bentaleb, Verts, Walker, Rose, Eriksen, Poch
Poor: Stambo, Soldado, Chadli

We should have lost, we were really poor and was saved by Lloris and bad finishing. We were dominated by the worst team in the league.

Rose looked like a boy among men today, both literally and figuratively. Watching him go for headers was painful to watch.

Fazio was our best defender, by far. Vertonghen had a pretty poor game and was fortunate not to see red. He has to learn to play with out all the grabbing and clutching. There are times you can get away with it, but it seems Vertonghen can't help but grab whenever an attacker is near.

Yes, we were truly dominated by Leicester, let that sink in for a while.

Once you've let that sink in have a look at Leicester's home results this season and pay attention to who they've taken point off at the KP.

Davies has looked much more assured at LB, hasn't he?

We were very fortunate to escape with 3 points today. I hope to see Davies out there for sure against United but don't ask me who should start in midfield on short rest.
