Who is your man of the match?

Vorm - 6 - solid, nothing to do

Walker - 4.5 - thought we have a RB for years in him, can't wait to see what Yedlin can do...
Dier - 6 - was okay and our only threat in half 1
Vertonghen - 6 - okay
Davies - 4 - difficult game in the first half. But got no help either

Stambouli - 5 - don't know. Not too bad, but not too useful to create something
Mason - 4 - damn he looked off the pace. So many misplaced balls

Eriksen - 4 - just an awful game by Eriksen. Shame
Townsend - 5 - Pen converted thanks, a few step overs but nothing productive really
Kane - 6 - tried and looked okay enough. But should play upfront

Adebayor - 3 - oh dear....captain.....oh dear....

Dembele - 4.5 - not really influential
Paulinho - 6 - okay
Soldado - 5.5 - got the pen. that was it.

Shameful performance versus leage One opponent. Hard task next week...

I was never a fan and I honestly don't know what to make of Townsend. Daft? Football brain dead? He got my MOM however

Where's the Goat option?

My vote is no one without the Goat option. Poor performance today

Good: Townsend, Verts, Dier
Fine: Vorm, Stambo, Mason, Dembele, Paul, Kane, Soldado, Poch
Poor: Walker, Davies (improved second half to be fair to him), Eriksen, Ade, fans

Walker is just getting worse and worse with every game. More than willing to allow him time but we can't afford these declining performances

Was so disappointed as a collective and no Indivduals stood out today

I think the ratings were 6's all round with no man of the match

If pushed to name one I give it to Dier for a couple of headers from freekicks and a nice tackle first half

My god, how Davies struggled today.

Not easy to chose a MoTM, but Verts or whatever... And Ade was shit, but the fans who booed him are even shittier.

Thought Dier and Verts did well, although that is relative given the pressure we were under...

Davies and Walker both had two of their poorer games in many aspects, but noticeably in possession...

Eriksen continually wanted to make something happen but really nothing came off for him and he was largely ineffective.

One of Kanes poorer games, but I will attribute that to Poch to some extent as I don't think he looked comfortable playing that CAM role this evening. Utd did well at really crowding it out in there too.

Adebayor did nothing of note really, wasn't ridiculously worse than others either. I will dispute that he was lazy though, thought he was implementing the press OK.

Townsend, strange strange player. Looks like he is playing well in spells, but when you think back-didnt particularly create anything. Which points to him being all action and no cleverness when on the ball. Good bravery to step up and take the pen again though, can't knock.

Stambouli/Mason - neither were good or bad. Though I do believe Stambouli is showing glimpses on the ball that can give us hope that he will be a decent player.

Vorm literally nothing to do.

One other word on Eriksen, despite being poor this evening his transformation under Poch has been extraordinary; he just gets what is wanted. From a stereotypically slightly soft but very skilled playmaker with little work ethic, he is now leading the high press, directing players behind where to go and screaming for people to push up in support when it's being implemented. Good to see.

Dier was decent. Vertonghen wasn't bad but still had a mongy moment. Still, with the two full backs regularly giving the ball away and making silly decisions ( Davies obviously nowhere near as bad as Walker who has been as bad as Naughton ever was just lately ) then I suppose they will be a little nervous themselves at times!
I don't particularly rate Stambouli but he was decent too.

Says it all really. At home against Sheff Utd and we are talking about our centre havles and our limited deep lying water carrier all having decent games!

If you aren't a Tottenham fan, Walker and Townsend are a great comedy act at times. Mind boggling how they continuously make awful decisions.

Vorm - 6 - Had nothing to do

Walker - 4 - Poor and sloppy, lacks concentration but is fortunate to have pace on his side
Dier - 6.5 - Very solid first half, didn't have much to do in the 2nd
Verts - 6.5 - Great ball for Soldado
Davies - 3.5 - Given the absolute runaround by a league one winger

Mason - 5 - Tried hard, got around but ultimately didn't offer much apart from a few sloppy passes
Stambouli - 5.5 - Slightly better than Mason, one lapse in concentration that could've proved costly

Eriksen - 4 - Didn't do anything, awful set pieces
Townsend - 7 MOTM - Was our only threat even if he isn't as effective as he should be. A couple of good crosses + cool finish for the pen.
Kane - 5 - Tried but was sloppy tonight. Needs to play up top.

Ade - 5 - Got around and worked hard but didn't really offer a real threat

Paulinho - 6 - Provided a real drive to the attack when on
Soldado - 5.5 - Good touch for the pen but did nothing else
Dembele - 5 - Barely noticeable

He was isolated with their Rw all eve. No support whatsoever.

He didn't help himself by not showing him inside more though.

Walker and Davies were absolutely awful. At home to teams who are camped out, you really need your FBs to offer outlets, be involved and stretch the pitch. Neither did any of the above effectively and when they received it in the right places, they invariably fucked it up with a heavy touch or wayward pass. Davies made their winger look like Bale. 4s for both.

Vorm, Dier and Verts 7s. Decent.

Stambouli, Mason, Dembele, Paulinho. Offered zero creativity or incision. Moved the ball too slowly and didn't create space. Plodded away. 5s all round.

Eriksen had a night to forget. Tried hard but nothing came off. He can't do it every week, possibly tired I suppose. 6

Townsend ran down innumerable blind alleys and some of his tracking back was laughable. Tucked the pen away. 5.

Ade was turgid. Kane was poor and Soldado was anonymous. 5s.

Really poor performance, it will be tough next week. We could have put this tie to bed after the first goal (the only way we were going to score) but we started plodding it around, playin with the handbrake on. I hope we don't live I regret that 15mins of nothingness.

Zzzzz.

Well said. He deserves a lot of credit. I, for one, questioned whether he'd be able to rise to those challenges but he has dug in like a trooper.
