Just losing faith in eriksen bringing the fire in his belly that's needed to make it work. Love the little gnomester but it just doesn't feel right with both of them in the AM at the mo.

Not sure about that, but with our tactics today I wonder if one or other could usefully have been sacrificed for Townsend.

Like many, I thought Kaboul had had his day.

The good a run of games does, hey?

Lamela and Adebayor were shocking today. Absolutely shocking.

Tbh, Lamela is a very very poor footballer. He's too slow and weak. Watching him try to execute even basic step overs is embarrassing.

Good eye for a pass though, I'll give him that.

Usefully and Townsend should not be used in the same sentence.

It was a great point and I did not think we'd get anything out of today before the match started. We played solid defense and got some great GK from Lloris, yet again. Poch's tactics were on point, but personally I felt he sort of shot up shop after the goal. After their equalizer, he completely shut it down. But all in all, we did very well to pick up a point. Our first since last year vs Chelsea under AVB! 2 of last 27 possible against the top 4 and Poch is now 1 of possible 3! BTW, LOVE the suit, Poch. Looked like a BOSS!

I'd say Kaboul and Lloris were co MOTM with amazing performances. Rose, Verts and Mason were very good today. Capoue, Naughton, Lamela and Chadli were good to solid. Eriksen was poor and Ade was beyond shit.

Last week, I gave Ade and Vlad 0's/-10's. Today, Ade managed to out do himself. -20 from me today. He was absolutely awful against Brom. Beyond shit. Today was just a different level of bad. One that I hope I never see again.

    Lloris - 9
    Naughton - 7
    Kaboul - 9
    Vertonghen - 8
Rose - 7.5(.5 deduction from the equalizer)
    Capoue - 7
    Mason - 8
Lamela - 6(.5 deduction from the equalizer)
    Eriksen - 4
    Chadli - 6
    Ade - -20

    Lennon - 5
    Bentaleb - 6/NET
    Dier - NET

Now, regarding the things I am reading on here about Lamela today...

If Ade didnt completely fuck up in the box when it was a clear goal on Lamela's through ball, what would the opinions be of Lamela today?

Sure, he played 2 disappointing passes(and both were the wrong pass) in the first half, and his clearance fuck up ultimately lead to the equalizer(Rose could have stopped that also had he marked Ox instead of sitting on the goal line), but Lamela was the only one in the box when Chadli had a terrible shot in the first half when he could have had a goal and probably could have had a goal there also if Chadli looked his way, played a beautiful pass to Ade in the box in tight space that Ade for some reason decided not to fucking move his leg to score and let it go right by him(and make no mistake, that was going to be a goal), and recognized Eriksen winning the ball back instead of tracking back like everyone else and played a good ball to Chadli for the assist. Not to mention, he was actually pretty solid on defense also

Yes, Lamela could have been ALOT better today and yes he is partly to blame for the equalizer, but he was not as bad as alot of you are making him out to be. SHOULD have had 2 assists today. COULD have had more if he played the right pass and COULD have even had a goal if Chadli looked in the middle of the box on his terrible shot from the left.

All in all, wasnt a great performance by any means from Lamela. Likely cost himself a few more assists and partly to blame for the equalizer. But by no means was he our second worse player outside of Ade. He was definitely better than Eriksen. Chadders could have done better too, but his goal clouds it.

We have a good one in Lamela, IMO. He truly has world class potential. There is clearly a good player there

Eriksen also didn't repeatedly give the ball away and make poor decisions in possession, or shank a clearance for the Arsenal goal.

I love Lamela to bits, but he didn't play well today. Put in 100% effort as always, but it didn't come off.

I just know that there will be idiots on here calling that a tactical master class. I call that a tactical apology scribbled on a post it note and stuck on a fridge door.

Glenn Roeder could have come up with that. In fact he probably did. Fuck knows every other shit **** with zero ambition has come up with the same plan.

That's assuming it was "a plan".

Yay, we went away to Arsenal, parked a bus, skanked a goal and then parked it some more, then lost a goal, then parked it some more. I can hardly contain myself.

West Brom showed much more ambition and tactical nous against us last week. As did West Ham against Liverpool.

We weren't even great without the ball. Just because you want to contain and sit a bit deeper doesn't mean you don't press the football. In fact, if you want to play counter attacking football, it's fucking obligatory.

Chadli and Eriksen were ambling around engaging no fucker, and Adebayor needs a fucking PCP suppository. The bloke just walked around like it he was at a garden party at the imperial Togalise majesty's summer residence. How the fuck is Pochettino picking him right now. I'd rather Kane up front right now.

The only time Eriksen actually tackled anyone it resulted in a goal. If only we'd actually tried that more often ?

As a result of Chadli, Adebayor ad Eriksen's ten yard walking exclusion zone, Arsenal found it piss easy to walz through the the lines and this put extreme pressure on Capoue and Mason, neither were great, but Mason in a CM2 in this game was stupider than what Sherwood did in his first game last season. The boy spent most of the game chasing his tail and rarely finding it. This isn't a outright criticism of Mason, I hope he has a role to play in easier games, better tactically organised, but he wasn't great today - no one was.

Lamela was like an Argentine Townsend for the first half. He clearly has ability, and his tenacity and willingness to try and engage the opposition when he hasn't got the ball is commendable, but he's really got to compose himself at times and do the fucking simple thing. Lay a simple ball off to someone in a good position. Don't commit a stupid foul after the ref has just warned you about totting up. Credit for his work off the ball today and setting up another goal, but he's still got some learning to do.

Mind boggling to me was when we were hanging on for dear life did Pochettino not take off one of the forward players and put Bentaleb in. Try and shore up the midfield and cut off the supply that was continually pumping at us and inevitably led to a goal. I didn't mind Eriksen going off so much, but the straight swap for Lennon was tactically moribund.

Vertonghen and, particularly, Kaboul did what you want CB's to do on days like today, which is throw themselves at everything. That's great but I wouldn't expect a pair of CB's to do any less really. I was probably more impressed by the performance of Rose, who's energy and chippy tenacity was about the only thing you could call "positive". He refused to let Oxlade-Chamberlin have an easy day.

The three of four times we found ourselves in their half we looked like pub footballers, wasting the simplest chances to do something vaguely constructive. All bar once.

    Individual stuff

Lloris - World class save that earned us a point.

Naughton - Decent performance on the back foot.

    Kaboul - Strong.

    Vertonghen - Decent game.

    Rose - Good game.

Capoue - Pass of the game (on either side) for Chadli. Fighting fires the rest of the game. OK

Mason - Tough baptism. I don't think he was the right choice for this game, and didn't really have much influence on it, but hopefully he'll get easier chances to shine.

Eriksen - Ironic that the only time he engaged anyone it ended up with a goal. Shame he (and we) didn't do it more. Largely very disappointing in every other way.

Chadli - Fucked his first great chance horribly. Took his second one well. Was a passenger for the most part apart from those two moments.

Lamela - The boy's got talent, and he does produce something of quality nearly every time he plays, but he needs to do simple things sometimes too. Good effort off the ball.

Adebayor - Has Defoe performed some kind of Voodoo and got in his body ?

    Subs - Who cares.

Early days, blah blah fucking blah.

We didn't sign either a quality striker or a left sided forward who can score goals. Chadli is the only player we have who can fill that gap and assist our goal shy strikers. For me he is doing a pretty good job this season and he should be given until January to try to nail down that position. I see a lot of anti Chadli posts but I would have him as one of the first names on the team sheet. Would like to see him push up in support of Soldado and I think we might see good things from both of them.

Just read your ratings. Think that's very harsh considering our recent struggles. I thought we defended well and limited Arsenal to very few clear cut chances.

In fact, we had the better clear cut chances. I agree our passing, decision making and overall attacking play lacked quality but had we produced more, in that respect, we could of been talking about an impressive victory tonight.

I know were this debate will be heading though - possession football versus soaking up pressure and countering. And you know what, we adopted the latter today and it should of won us the game - a prospect nobody believed possible before kick off.

Yet, like last season, there we had 57% and lost it.

Fucking hell, you're unbelievable. You probably fucking expect us to outplay Arsenal, which is never ever going to happen at this moment in time.

For all your long posts and supposed knowledge/tactical genius, I actually think I know more about football than you.

    Crazy stuff.
