With better counter attacking (or an actual focal point for the attack) we would have won today.

Kaboul

Great
Lloris
Rose
Naughton
Capoue

Solid/Average
Mason
Vertonghen
Chadli
Lamela

Poor
Adebayor - Hard to judge him so harshly because in fairness he was isolated in this system, but he really offered so little and looked like he couldn't be bothered to run.

Kaboul MOM.
Special mentions for Lloris Rose and Mason
Solid performance - Vertonghen
Ok - Chadli, Capoue and Naughton.
Must do better - Lamela and Eriksen
Utter rubbish - Adebayor.

Maybe slightly harsh on Lamela and Eriksen considering they combined brilliantly for the goal. Eriksen was playing in a position that didn't suit him and Lamela was wasteful a few times but to his credit never stopped trying.

Overall - crap for half hour, great counter attacking for 15 minutes, great goal, shit defending for their goal, backs to the wall most of the second half and Kaboul (and Lloris) was our saviour numerous times. Need to improve but good result.

Lloris - Great save on the line and good catches when we needed him
Naughton - Did his job well
Kaboul - MOTM, immense dealing with crosses
Vertonghen - Solid performance and dealt with a lot of dangerous crosses
Rose - Very very good performance. Dealt with a lot of the attacks down his side and one on one battles. Unlucky on goal.
Capoue - Good physical presence and calm on the ball.
Mason - Neat touches and control of our game when we had the ball.
Eriksen - Good pressure for the goal and neat when he had it. Quiet overall.
Lamela - A little clumsy but did his defensive job well and provided a good assist.
Chadli - Good finish and did his job defensively.
Adebayor - Looked way too tired but tried to hold it up when he did get it.
Lennon - Did what he was brought on for. Helped keep the left side solid.
Dier - Good job defensively when he came on.
Bentaleb - Not enough time but helped us stay solid.

Plenty of positives today - Younes put in the sort of performance that makes me happy to have him as club captain even if we would ideally not start him that often, the defence (Lloris, back four and Capoue) was excellent throughout both individually and as a unit, Mason showed a bit of spark through the middle which we haven't had recently (the comparison with Wilshere is a valid one, his sudden darts past people in central positions will win us plenty of free kicks in promising positions).

Plenty of negatives too, though - Lamela was in last year mode, dallying on the ball and generally looking like he couldn't grasp the pace of the league. Eriksen was anonymous, Chadli too until the goal. In general the attack wasted a host of fantastic opportunities, especially in the first half. But finding glaring negatives after an away point with Arsenal can only be a good thing, I'd rather that than need an exceptional performance to nick a draw. We more than matched them, and Pochettino got it spot on with his pressing tactics - no press whatsoever in their half or the middle, but incredible pressure the moment they got into our final third, presumably with the idea of allowing their full backs to get forward and exploiting the space behind them, which worked superbly as a tactic only to be let down by shocking decisions from Eriksen and Lamela when the right pass would have put us through on goal a couple of times.

There has been a lot of negative Eriksen groupthink lately. He definitely isn't playing his best, but he is still provides qualities no one else in the entire squad can and he should be a nailed on starter. He made the goal today too. He bossed that tosser Flamini and I couldn't have been happier to see it.

Kaboul definitely MOTM as most have concluded. Haven't seen that kind of performance from him for several years. If he keeps that up, we are in good shape at CB with a couple of other very good options on the bench. I think Capoue deserves some acclaim as well. The only true defensive midfielder in the side and he is always the outlet from defense. Mason did okay for his debut, but he kept it simple and didn't really spur us on. Capoue was the rock that needed to be there next to him to make him successful today.

And of course Hugo is a boss.

So disappointing from Ade, how can he not get fired up for games like this. After we scored I felt we were crying out for Soldado to come on and actually hassle their defence.

Lloris 8
Naughton 7
Kaboul 9 - Absolute monster in the heart of defence
Vert 7 - Great to see him back
Rose 7
Mason 7.5 - Impressive debut, great week from him. Hopefully he can keep it up
Capoue 7.5 - Worked really well with Mason and he's starting to look like the best buy out of the magnificent 7 from last summer
Lamela 5 - I said in the match thread that I thought he was atrocious but that was unfair as he did help create our chances. I just feel he tries too hard and dallies on the ball when he could play it to someone, seemed to lose the ball on quite a few occasions and at fault for the goal. Poor clearance and didn't watch the man on the edge of the box
Chadli 7 - Took the goal well but not much else of note.
Eriksen 5 - Some really lazy passes when we was countering and think he needs to be dropped as hasn't played well at all so far this season
Ade 2 - As everyone else has said and above

Lennon 5 - Poor showing, can see why Poch made the sub but didn't help out at LB at all and got beat on a few occasions. Offered nothing going forward either
Bentaleb 6 - not much to do but was impressed with his tenacity and got a good tackle in late on.
Dier n/a

pretty sure the lack of pressing was by design, we went to contain and counter, good plan and it worked.
That was obviously part of the tactics today. We defended deep and counter attacked.
You all are probably right. I will now concede that the non pressing was more intent than design. I saw all the space and time that the Arse players had and was shouting to players close down. But on reflection that would not have been too wise as it is now obvious that the tactics was to play deep then break.

Lloris made some spectacular saves! My MOTM, closely followed by Kaboul. I think everyone played well apart from adebayor... He was horrendous today!

Kaboul was finally paired with Vertonghen and they looked top class -- keep them together Poch!!!

It's hard to analyse the performance of the attacking players when the scum had so much of the ball IMO.
