We had only 1 player carrying any attacking threat and that was Son. Only 1 of our defenders actually defended ok and that was Davies.
Only 1 midfielder showed anything - Eriksen and that was only in flashes. I don’t think Lloris was at fault for the goals .
Those 4 players get 6. All the others were shit. Scoring between zero and 4. I can’t be bothered to rate them.

None of our players deserved MOTM and Pochettino’s selection and lack of substitutions were clueless. At 2-2 I was begging him to bring on Toby for Foyth before it was too late. And sure enough he gives the ball away for the crucial 3rd. I give MOTM to Toby for what should have been.

Lloris 5 - got a deflection but could've saved Daren bents tame shot

Aurier 3 - bad positional awareness, flustered and poor.
Vertonghen 2 - pretty awful , rare stuff
Forth 2 - way out of his depth. Much to soon to start that kinda fixture
Davies 3 - as bad as the other full back , everyone treating the ball like a live Grenade

Sissoko 5- bad mostly , no composure. Didn't have the energy to cover aurier like past 2 games
Dier 7- gets that mark for goal and winding up arse fans and they're scum players otherwise slow and ponderous , poor stuff

Dele -6 meh really
Eriksen -4 good assist from setplay but other than that casted invisibility for the game.
Son -7 tried to do something but didn't have much to work with
Kane-4 gets a point for pen otherwise terrible.

Can't be arsed to rate subs - total afterthought tactically the way poch likes it

Foyth seemed accustomed to this level when he won us the game at Palace with a MOTM performance, backed up with a MOTM performance for Argentina on debut.
Being at the Palace match, what I noticed there was the same thing that's been evident vs Chelsea and at Arsenal. They are targeting the right. If Palace had any finishing quality whatsoever, we'd have lost that game. In fact, we had no business winning that match. Foyth did well and scored the winner but he still made mistakes as he was being targeted all game. Against Chelsea, he gave up a penalty which luckily wasnt called. Here, he was completely lost. When you're being targeted for 270 minutes in a row and you're not prepared for the level yet, the mistakes are going to compound. And they did. He was proven to be entirely out of his depth. Listen, he's going to be a good player but he was thrown in the deep end way too fast. It was just too much, too fast for him. I think he needs a good loan. He is just not ready for this level.

With injuries/ages of Jan & Toby I think there will be plenty of gamete against teams like Southampton, Cardiff, cup games, etc. for him to get time here. If we can get him 15 or so games I'd rather he stays here than goes to some relegation fodder where they force him into a style of play that doesn't best suit him and ruins him or something.

Did you see the way he gave a penalty away against Chelsea or the way he lost Giroud for their consolation goal?

Emery knew changes were needed at half time to turn around a 2-1 deficit and made them. Those changes directly influenced the result.

Poch, who has moaned non-stop about his players needing a rest, didn’t make a single change until we were 4-2 down.

How can he not see a problem there?

I said it ages ago and i’ll say it again. We’ve seen Pochettino’s ceiling and we won’t achieve much more under him than top 4 finishes.
I agree, and I’ve felt that way for two seasons. But he keeps getting us top three, and he hasn’t had any favours done him on the transfer front. I’ll take top four for another couple of seasons, get settled in the new stadium, then get arsey if we don’t win stuff.

Arsenal could smell blood every time we had the ball. The pressure they put on us off the ball was relentless and made it impossible for us to maintain any sustained possession. When we aren't allowed time on the ball - we have too many players that can't evade pressure. This, the Man city and Liverpool games all highlight this. In each game we never stood a chance. Aurier, Davies, Dier, Sissoko all contributed to giving us zero stability or foundations for possession.

You can't expect to replace Sissoko, who has terrible close control and passing, with Dembele in this sort of game and not notice. If that was originally the rationale behind the Sissoko signing we can consider it a total failure... If we were able to outwit Arsenal's press even just a little today then they would have been a lot more conservative and it would have had a profound effect on the game. As it was they just went for the jugular for 90 minutes and it was terrible to watch. Dier and Sissoko in midfield was a mistake and Poch needed to change it. Terrible decisions on all substitutions from him. To be leading 2-1 was incredibly fortuitous.

watching Foyth defend for us takes me back to watching spurs in the 90s - mistakes from head to toe every game. Kane, absolutely awful today which has become the norm. I don't think penalties should count on a striker's goal stats. Son was decent however. He always gets subbed off yet Kane never does..... hmmmm

Quick shout out for Juan Foyth... I really don't think he was as bad as people have been saying tonight- barring the major error that led to a goal. I admit that there is only so many times you can make that excuse for a player, especially one who has made a few errors in his first few games for us, but I think its important to see the big picture with this guy.

Really hate how he will now gain a reputation amongst the media/thick pundits/other fans for being a liability, its a little unfair, but unfortunately he will have to learn to deal with this now, as that is what it is like in the public eye in our culture. Another year of match experience and good performances and they will forget all about it.

He really does look to be a cracking player, only 20, and he WILL iron out these mistakes. He is adjusting. VERY RARELY does any centre back break through at age 20, let alone one from a completely different continent and culture.

He has my full support, I think he is going to be world class sooner rather than later.

Hope you're right...but he should rightly gain a reputation for being a liability...he has made game changing errors in 3 of the last four matches he has played, so it is perfectly fair...that being said...he's young and will surely improve...he clearly has ability and will get better over time.

Vertonghen made one tackle to Foyth’s seven, and two clearances to his six. He also gave away a penalty and got sent off. Not sure Juan did too bad

45 minutes before kick off, Pochetinno sealed our fate for the day by setting us out with a returning from injury Vertonghen partnered with a young Foyth, who has started brightly in his performances this season but has become increasingly erratic and prone to schoolboy errors. Once the game begun and Arsenal came out the gates with glaring fangs, I noticed that yet again, Poch had decided to recall the press and allow us to lumber through the start of the match with the only discernible game plan being “you must absolutely play out of the back and at least every few minutes or so please just hand the opponent an opportunity on a silver platter.” I’m very curious as to why our pressing is not a staple for most big games. We pick and choose when to bring
it out now, but whenever we actually do, it almost always works to our advantage. Instead, typical to our previous turgid performances earlier in the season we started passively and sure enough the mistakes crept back up.

Arsenal capitalized on their dominance after Vertonghen, whos play I can only best describe as one coming from a man who was surely on the piss the previous night, decided to play volleyball. We gained a modicum of control after a few minutes and Eriksen decided to keep up his recent form of deadly free kicks - bringing us
level with the help from the Arsenal
keeper. A minute later Son charges forward and gets a somewhat fortuitous penalty. Afterwards was a crucial opportunity that we failed to make the best of as although we sucker punched them and the stadium was deflated, we had not set up a proper foundation to pursue more. We were just as stunned to be in front after our tepid display and eventually this became apparent and Arsenal ended the half on top again.

Second started much as the first half ended until a very crucial change made by Pochetinno that allowed Arsenal’s dominance to turn into a complete battering. He dropped Dier back and left Sissoko on his own against the Arsenal midfield. This was a moment of pure madness. The game was begging for a proactive sub to help our midfield, Winks, Lamela. Something. Instead Pochetinno inexplicably leaves our most technically limited player ON HIS OWN. I literally don’t have any clue what to think of that.

Sure enough our midfield gets sliced to bits, our defenders start offering up goals like they’re going out of business and Vertognhen decides to get an early rest from the clown act unfolding in front of him. Maybe he was having flashbacks of AVB and Sherwood and needed to see his therapist.

Lloris - 7 Actually a very decent game but maybe could have saved Torrieras shot
Davies - 5 Defensively ok. Useless going forward.
Vertgonhen - 3 The man played like he just rolled out of bed
Foyth - 3 Hes a good player for sure but Poch has thrown him into the deep end too quickly.
Aurier - 4 some okay moments but as the game went on he just couldn’t get a thing right.
Dier - 4 one of those games where he might as well have been a training cone
Sissoko - 5 Sold down the river by Poch just when he was getting his confidence and game up
Eriksen - 6 I give him props for actually remembering how to pass the ball unlike most of the rest
Alli - 5 probably the most neutral player on the night. Didn’t really contribute to the match in any overly positive or negative way.
Son - 5 he got us a pen and riled up the Arsenal fans I guess
Kane - 3 pen aside he offered nothing at all.

Reading this has cheered me up. Brilliant summary; particularly regarding Vertonghen. My face hurts.

Wrong team on the wrong day.. Sissoko was far from our worst and covered well for others ut this was a game for winksy. His composure would of helped us change the tempo which was fast and too much for us. Foyth in this game? Po h fucked up there and it's on his head.

Lloris, think he could and should of done better for a few of the goals. He's just lame at pens and it pisses me off. Might as well just stand by a post. Aubomiangs was poor too. If he's reading play he knows it will only go one place, top right corner.. Yet he moved to the middle of the goal right before the strike.

Aurier not as bad as many are saying but didn't cover himself in glory either.

Foyth, got caught out, was too adventurous at times and looked lost at others. Does well at reading the offside opportunities and had good moments, but was basically bullied.

Verts, thought he was unlucky with the pen, clearly got pushed whi h caused that. Dont think his second yellow was too bad and he clearly won the ball before the man. But really not his best game.

Davies.. Another getting caught in possession, very average performance otherwise.

Dier, showed passion, was overwhmed and overworked covering his and Foyths roles. One of our betters.

Sissoko, looked a bit timid today and inside himself, Covered well for other particularly aurier. Was awful but not right in that role in this type of game.

Son, tried and one if our betters.

Kane... Rest bed please. Apart from the pen, like he wasn't there. Lazy or knackered pressing. Outpaced all day by average speed players.

Eriksen, was okish

Dele, our best both technically and mentally.

Slightly less pissed off than earlier.
They deserved it
wanted it more.
Individually and collectively better.
Spurs sent sent out to bat without
pads, helmets or jock straps.
If Foyth was a suitable selection
for this fixture
why wasn't Winks.

Adequate......6.....Son, Dele, Dier, Eriksen.Lloris, Foyth.
Inadequate...5......Sissoko, Davies, Aurier Kane.
Very poor......4......Vertonghen.

Poch...............3.....In a class all of his own today.

Winks and Toby should have started.

Whatever, this result will mean nothing in the end. Defence just had a major off day.

We lost 2-0 last season and still finished comfortably above them.
Yep- we’re a schizophrenic bunch aren’t we? We’ve been really good lately and, like last year, had a bad day against them today. We’ll bounce back

To be honest, there have been some absolutely shocking performances today. But saying that, Jan was lacking match fitness against Inter, what can you expect from him today (although the second yellow was a bit dumb). Foyth, is just not ready for this game, he will be, just not yet. Aurier needs to play alongside a more stable cd, him and Foyth together in this game is a recipe for disaster. Sissoko looked very leggy and off the pace which is not surprising. He also isn’t nearly technical enough to be good in a game like this. And we had zero idea of how to break their midfield and get the ball upfront.

I’m not going to give everyone a pass, but really, Poch got completely done by Uni and he didn’t help himself by picking the wrong starting line up. Both Toby and Winks should have started. We probably would have still lost but I reckon we would have been better. Also Poch, make a sub. It’s not something to be frightened of.

Everyone was poor but Poch takes the crown.
Bad formation undid us. Emery anticipated the lack of width and played a 343/3421 which suffocated us when in possession and ran us ragged out wide. We should have committed more fully to a 433 and spread the fuck out of their CBs. Playing a 41212 basically meant they had plenty of moments when they outnumbered us, or caught us on 1 v 1.

Winks should have played instead of Dier
Sonny has been too selfish recently, too selfish, shooting at every angle instead of squaring the ball, this is why this man has 0 assist, 0 assist!
The whole team lacks aggression. This game need Lamela.
Our football sucks, when puy under pressure we cant string two decent pass

Painful. Yet again we shoot ourselves in the foot if not for individual errors we'd be top of the league. Fair due to the scum they seemed content on countering us with a simple ball over the top turning our defence time again . To concede 4 goals is pretty shameful
