Jan was far worse than Juan, can't remember him having a worse game even when alongside Kaboom.

How could Poch make that call on Toby in this of all games, when he could have given the game time to Foyth in the week instead?

But worst of all, Poch still has no answer to the high press by the opposition. I thought he'd finally got it v City at home, when we launched it much more often. But not.

Son and Eriksen did OK, all the others lost their individual battles and lacked the mentality for the most important battle of the season.

No one deserved an MoM shout though.

Tragic effort yet again at their gaff.

To be honest, there have been some absolutely shocking performances today. But saying that, Jan was lacking match fitness against Inter, what can you expect from him today (although the second yellow was a bit dumb). Foyth, is just not ready for this game, he will be, just not yet. Aurier needs to play alongside a more stable cd, him and Foyth together in this game is a recipe for disaster. Sissoko looked very leggy and off the pace which is not surprising. He also isn’t nearly technical enough to be good in a game like this. And we had zero idea of how to break their midfield and get the ball upfront.

I’m not going to give everyone a pass, but really, Poch got completely done by Uni and he didn’t help himself by picking the wrong starting line up. Both Toby and Winks should have started. We probably would have still lost but I reckon we would have been better. Also Poch, make a sub. It’s not something to be frightened of.

Everyone was poor but Poch takes the crown.

I should preface this by saying a lot of the problems were the result of some bad tactical decisions and an insistence to play the ball out from the back nearly all the time despite being terrible at it any time we get pressed.

Lloris 6 - Maybe could have done better for a couple. I dunno. Made some good saves

Aurier 4 - Awful. He gotten away with some bad defending and overall play in the last fews games because teams didn't take advantage of it and we won.
Foyth 5 - His actual defending wasn't the worst, but he gave away the ball way too often in our defensive third.
Vertonghen 4 - Not at the races at all. One of his worst performances for us.
Davies 4 - Terrible too. Him getting caught on the ball in the first minute by taking too much time perfectly summed our performance.

Dier 4 - Awful first half where the passed the ball aimlessly nearly every time he had it unless he was giving it to the CBs and keeper. Second half he was no better. What was he doing for the 4th?
Sissoko 6 - Covered a lot of ground and was asked to do the job of about three men. Still bad with he ball.
Eriksen 7 - Set piece delivery was good and had some good moments from open play. One of the few with a bit of composer on the ball.

Alli 5 - Not his type of game. Had a decent moment or two, but he's too slow with the ball in these type of games. Wished he'd go back to the Alli of a couple of years ago who'd constantly run in behind, though I guess he's given a different role nowadays.

Son 6 - Good movment. Poor decision making and end product.
Kane 5 - Scored a penalty. That's about it.

Positionally Aurier is probably the worst fullback we have had in 15 years. Constantly being sucked into positions he has no right to be in. Constantly committing to challenges he has no way of winning exposing our CBs. Constantly jumping in when he shouldn't. I genuinely don't understand what anyone on here sees in him. He can't even run his way out of trouble because contrary to popular opinion, he has no pace.

Our worst player for a long time and regardless of other bad performances today, comfortably the standout underperformer. The impact his positional naiivity has on the game and team is unrivalled. He needs to be replaced ASAP.

That said, Poch playing a young inexperienced CB in Foyth knowing he would be exposed by Aurier time and time again is criminal.

Son was clearly our best player, trying to make something happen, and Dele just behind for showing a bit of fight at least and winning plenty of free kicks.

But overall, this one Poch got wrong with that defense. Toby absolutely should of started.
It started with the defence no doubt but the midfield protection in front of it was laughable!

Had to go 3 in the middle with Winks in there early second half.

It was more the Dilly Dally than the Dele Alli show today

Yeah he was only okay. It was just a dreadful performance all round from everyone. Literally from first 3mins I knew we’d lose, we looked so nervous and making stupid sloppy passes. We play them twice a year, i know it’s the derby but it was only 3pts on the line. I don’t understand it.

Verts -10 for the absolute ridiculous handball putting us on the back foot. Anyway overall we didn't deserve much from that game, arsenal rose their level and as usual against them we crumble.

Maybe Poch was worried with the scums pace up top but I’d have thought resting Jan after he’d just come from injury was a better shout than Toby

Our tough week caught up with us whilst the scum XI had a weeks rest

Gave it to Son for being our most effective player - even if also at times the most wasteful.

Just think we got the set up wrong. Right from the start they were sweeping through our diamond with their width. Not helped by Aurier having a dead set shocker one on one.

Fuck it.

Love Poch but not Today
Toby out a big no no, but not reacting to their formations beginning of both halves was criminal.. Ht Toby and Winks for Foyth and Sissoko should have been the call
This was there cup final and it showed and sadly we didn't really want it as bad as them.
We will still finish above them but today we let the door open needlessly.

mostly disappointed because from start to finish, we couldn't match Aresenal's intensity and that made us look extremely pedastrian.

massive opportunity missed.

I'll give Vertonghen the benefit of the doubt that he meant to take out Lacazette - MOTM.
Sissoko has refound his touch but his attitude was generally good.

We can spin this anyway we want, it was their cup final, we had a tough run of games, etc but this was MP's worst result as our manager. Letting 4 in against a pretty average side is humiliating.

PS I'm glad Alderweireld was left out - stating that he didn't think this fixture was so important any more is an appalling attitude and he fails to understands that our whole season is built on top of the 2 derby results. Get them right and the rest is easy. Fk them up and it piles the pressure on everyone.

Back 4 was abysmal but that’s all on Poch. Starting Foyth was an awful decision. And he had a game where all the warning signs came to a head. He’s not ready for this level. Wayyyyyy out of his depth. Needs a loan to a lower table side. No coincidence both players on either side of him were awful today. He was so bad it caused Dier to have to cover 3 positions at once. Sissoko reverted back to his usual, useless self. Kane was poor. Awful all around.
That’s absolute bullshit about Sissoko! What did he actually do wrong today? Wasn’t at fault for any of the goals. End of the day they pressed us into submission and the fact we started with Foyth and Vertonghen on the biggest derby of the season where they have never played together is where the mistake lies and that’s down to Poch. I just hope it wasn’t a stubborn decision to leave Toby on the bench.

We were so poor in defence today but the midfield got completely overrun. I would have liked to see Winks start in a 3 man central midfield. Very poor from Pochettino today. He just seemed clueless when the game was getting away from us. Poor from the players but not helped by Pochettino.

45 minutes before kick off, Pochetinno sealed our fate for the day by setting us out with a returning from injury Vertonghen partnered with a young Foyth, who has started brightly in his performances this season but has become increasingly erratic and prone to schoolboy errors. Once the game begun and Arsenal came out the gates with glaring fangs, I noticed that yet again, Poch had decided to recall the press and allow us to lumber through the start of the match with the only discernible game plan being “you must absolutely play out of the back and at least every few minutes or so please just hand the opponent an opportunity on a silver platter.” I’m very curious as to why our pressing is not a staple for most big games. We pick and choose when to bring
it out now, but whenever we actually do, it almost always works to our advantage. Instead, typical to our previous turgid performances earlier in the season we started passively and sure enough the mistakes crept back up.

Arsenal capitalized on their dominance after Vertonghen, whos play I can only best describe as one coming from a man who was surely on the piss the previous night, decided to play volleyball. We gained a modicum of control after a few minutes and Eriksen decided to keep up his recent form of deadly free kicks - bringing us
level with the help from the Arsenal
keeper. A minute later Son charges forward and gets a somewhat fortuitous penalty. Afterwards was a crucial opportunity that we failed to make the best of as although we sucker punched them and the stadium was deflated, we had not set up a proper foundation to pursue more. We were just as stunned to be in front after our tepid display and eventually this became apparent and Arsenal ended the half on top again.

Second started much as the first half ended until a very crucial change made by Pochetinno that allowed Arsenal’s dominance to turn into a complete battering. He dropped Dier back and left Sissoko on his own against the Arsenal midfield. This was a moment of pure madness. The game was begging for a proactive sub to help our midfield, Winks, Lamela. Something. Instead Pochetinno inexplicably leaves our most technically limited player ON HIS OWN. I literally don’t have any clue what to think of that.

Sure enough our midfield gets sliced to bits, our defenders start offering up goals like they’re going out of business and Vertognhen decides to get an early rest from the clown act unfolding in front of him. Maybe he was having flashbacks of AVB and Sherwood and needed to see his therapist.

Lloris - 7 Actually a very decent game but maybe could have saved Torrieras shot
Davies - 5 Defensively ok. Useless going forward.
Vertgonhen - 3 The man played like he just rolled out of bed
Foyth - 3 Hes a good player for sure but Poch has thrown him into the deep end too quickly.
Aurier - 4 some okay moments but as the game went on he just couldn’t get a thing right.
Dier - 4 one of those games where he might as well have been a training cone
Sissoko - 5 Sold down the river by Poch just when he was getting his confidence and game up
Eriksen - 6 I give him props for actually remembering how to pass the ball unlike most of the rest
Alli - 5 probably the most neutral player on the night. Didn’t really contribute to the match in any overly positive or negative way.
Son - 5 he got us a pen and riled up the Arsenal fans I guess
Kane - 3 pen aside he offered nothing at all.

Son, Eriksen, Dele, Sissoko and possibly Lloris were not awful, neither were any over par.
Everyone else was varying degrees of awful.
Poch lost the tactical battle. Pushed Dier down and matched the 3 CB formation after the 2-2 goal but that just made things worse.

Lloris has saved 2 of 20 on target penalties against him in the PL (plus two have gone wide and one has hit the post, 18/23 he's faced have gone in). It's not a good record and I never feel he goes the right way either. It doesn't look like he does any penalty research.

Aurier was his bumbling worst, and is (in every single game) consistently 10 yards higher up the pitch than I feel he should be in any given situation.

Foyth, why not Toby? Would love to hear the explanation because nothing has indicated that Toby was injured. Wasn't awful before he gave the ball away for the goal but he was thrown in the deep end and didn't pass the test today.

Vertonghen put us on the back foot with an awful handball and was constantly outdone today. But the second yellow was extremely harsh.

Davies didn't do (as) much wrong, neither did he do anything particularly right.

Dier scored a good near post header, which we saw a lot of a few years ago and I hope we see more of in the near future, was (at best) alright in midfield but an absolute tragedy after dropping down to CB and had a hand in both 3-2 and 4-2.

Sissoko along with Aurier had absolutely no control on that side of the pitch, but was one of our better players in possession again. But this was a huge step back.

Dele, Eriksen and Son all did some nice things and tried very hard. Not a lot else to say about any of them.

Kane scored a great penalty, but only touched the ball once in the penalty area apart from that and had 8 (EIGHT) passes all game, 5 successful. That was a truly awful game from him.

Also the entity that makes the premier league schedule can get fucked, there's no way we should have had to play the red scum and blue scum back to back weeks. Fuck me, they'd never make united play city and liverpool on the bounce.
