Sissokko for me. We haven't missed Dembele at all because of him. Just wish he had Dembele's goal scoring prowess.
Funny. Was actually saying after the first half how much this game would have suited Dembele. As we just weren’t breaking their lines. But second half we absolutely tore them to shreds. I am so happy for Sissoko. What a turn around. I can’t remember ever having hated him now?

Pretty uncomfortable first half for all our defenders. They all had some awkward moments. But Super Jan stepped up big time in the second half. Clear MOTM, but closely matched by Sissy and Winks....what a second half!
Credit to Poch for his half time talk.

Where the none deserved option?

Only joking... Winksy for me cos he played brilliant in both halves. Impact wise, super Jan.

Lloris 7 - did what was needed and a good save from the header first half.

Aurier 7 - did well and the cross was brilliant for Jan. Some poor control and passing at times but that could just be game time related

Sanchez 7 - thought he had a good game

Toby 7 - another good game

Foyth 7.5 - on the ball, apart from a 2min spell, was superb on the ball and defended very well. Really hope nobody comes sniffing for him

SuperJan 9 - assist and goal from our best left back. Second half he was pure beast mode. Almost unplayable. What a cross to Son

Winks 10 - both halves superb. First half was most important where we were under pressure we could give him the ball and he would take responsibility for it. Second half he just kept the ball moving and always showed for it. It was a Mordic performance

Sissoko 8 - quiet first half but did his bit to chase that ball down. Second half was the France Sissoko and him carrying the ball forward.

Eriksen 7.5 - Dortmund marked him out but he did keep looking and as the game went on was finding pockets to start influencing the game

Lucas 6 - passenger for most parts but almost a dream start

Son 9 - lot of runs and scored the opener... He really stepped up. I think most knew he would but he really has stepped up. Works so hard and pretty much been playing non stop football for club and country but still gives 110%.

think 4's for sanchez and Foyth are way to harsh
4 for Foyth? U mad?
You what?

Wow, I must have ruffled some feathers! Didn't mean to offend anyone, but I try to not get my ratings biased by the result. Usually, after a win, all the players get 7s and 8s, after a loss a 6 is a MOM performance.

I thought that both Foyth and Sanchez did not have great games tonight. Foyth dribbled himself out of trouble early on and then tried the same trick two more times and got caught by the Dortmund players both times. If they had scored and the game would have ended differently, he would be getting slaughtered (not literally) right now.

Sanchez misplaced some simple passes when he was under no pressure. It almost seems to me, that he does better with the really difficult stuff than with the basics. If he needs to outpace a fast striker and put a perfectly timed tackle in, he will do just that when most other defenders would give away a penalty. But when he has time and no pressure, he seems to be Probe to lapses in concentration.

I hope this explains my ratings for these two players a bit better.

Vertonghen definitely MOTM.

But Sissoko was at the heart of over powering them and keeping us higher up the pitch, absolute warrior who is has made us a much stronger collective.

Fuck when he was driving forward they shat themselves - disrupted their shape big time.

I voted Jan but was impressed by Winks. In fact he's impressing me more and more as time goes by. If he keep going like he is we're going to have one hell of a player.

Really mature performance, didn't look like a youngster or 'prospect' at all out there today, was seeking the ball and trying to orchestrate things. Very promising.

Jan MOTM obviously but I thought Sissoko was immense at times. The transformation from when he came on the pitch to laughter around the stands at home to Barca is unbelievable. He’s a different player.

Would love to give it to Winks but Vertonghen was extra special. In a difficult first half though, Winks worked his nuts off to get at their CM. He hardly put a foot wrong under some intense pressure. Second half he just set the tempo and kept the ball moving as they wore themselves out. Great showing from him, but Jan was MOM.

Still not sure how you can give Llorente who came on for 10 minutes albeit scoring a goal a 9 and Winks who played exceptionally well for 90....a 6.

Onions I guess.

Jan MotM. Lol he might be our best CB and wingback. Eriksen was great, changed the game in the second half by quickly getting the ball out wide whenever he could. We always look so much better when he gets to dictate the game. Son was lethal and his runs out wide was the key to our succes. Our wide play was insane in the second half. Dortmund shat their pants every time we got the ball out on the wings.

Sissoko was also good in CM. He is so much better when he plays with confidence. It’s night and day. Toby was our best CB, they were all good at defending, but Toby showed how superior his passing is compared to Foyth and Sanchez. They always make silly mistakes that Toby just doesn’t make.

Aurier struggled a bit, but had that great cross to Jan. Not gonna lie i kinda feel like when Aurier plays i miss Trippier and when Trippier plays i miss Aurier. They are definitely not Walker level thats for sure.

Winks also wasn’t as good as he has been in the league. He lost the ball a surprisingly amount of times in dangerous positions and made more mistakes that he usually does. Also his passing range was very limited tonight. Tried a couple of through balls that was way off and his finishing is still suspect. He did put in a fight, so it’s not like he was bad. Just below his usual level.

The only player who wasn’t good was probably Lucas. He looked out of tune with the rest of the squad and his decision making was poor. Also tried to shoot himself back into the game, but nothing really worked for him.

Poch goes from poor to world class lately. Like we look average in the first half of games and then world class in the second half. Seems like it takes him a half to realize that we need to be threatening out wide. Just a weird thing we have going lately.

Poch used to be a bit poor at making changes, but now he is world class at that. Weird...

10 - Super Jan
9 - Winks, Sissoko, Back 3
8 - Son, Hugo, Eriksen, Aurier
7- Lucas

Dug in during a tough first half and then put on an Outstanding second half display.

Jan was out of this world good, must be an argument to play him at left back more often (he says he hates it but seems to enjoy it!).

I thought Winks was also amazing, he seems to thrive at this level, another champions league game he has bossed (with a big chunk of help from Sissoko).

Final mention goes to Aurier who looked nervous at the start, got his customary early booking but then knuckled down and put in a good shift, capped off by the stunning cross to Jan for the second.
