People aren't giving Bournemouth (and Eddie Howe) enough credit for that first 20 minutes. Yes, we weren't great, but it was because they hounded us on a small pitch. Two strikers and their midfield shutting everything down - they were very good and unlucky not to have scored two. Took us a while to find our feet.

Was really impressed with them as have been here and there over years, Eddie Howe has really done an incredible job.
Be really interested to see how he'd do with a bigger budget and thus higher level of player, feel like his tactics are too ambitious for his team at times. Everton should be all over him, he could be their version of Poch.

Eriksen MOM, because quite simply he is brilliant. I love it when he plays in a deeper role, the more he has the ball the more we play. He makes everything tick and complements Dembele and Dier/Wanyama perfectly. Beautiful player that in my opinion is the best midfielder in the league, infact for that type of role he plays, there is only really Modric (who plays a bit deeper) and Iniesta (who plays a bit wider) who have anywhere near the impact.

I imagine, clubs will come with some huge offers in the summer for him, he has finally this season made that step up to world class.

Lamela's intro changed the game as without Kane and an extra buzzing attacking midfielder to watch they just crumbled, Lamela himself played well enough and IMO he is better than when he was before the injury. The only thing that bothers me is going to get me negged to hell, but I don't care. He is SOOOOO very one footed, so much so that it effects his balance, how many times do you see him stuck with one foot planted and unable to react.

It's a strange one as, I am not sure he can do anything about it now, but it's easy to see why he has hip problems.

Finally Aurier, I have been negative about him in the past, but I think he deserves a lot of credit today, not only for his goal or his assist but for his defensive work which was impressive. His crossing is Kyle Walker esque but today I saw a player that has a future at spurs, something I have not seen so far this season.

As for the game itself.... really enjoyable stuff, I thought Bournemouth were excellent and Spurs too, nice to see some teams have a go and 4-1 was flattering. I think we missed Dier as well although Wanyama improved.

...MOTM masterclass from Eriksen, pinging the ball about from a deeper-than-normal position...
...what's up with our FBs? Can't cross, can't take it to the byline, can't get back to defend...worrying...

I don’t think Vertonghen had a good game his man marking of Wilson in the first half kept leaving huge gaps in the defence. He got better in the second half but i wasn’t to impressed, against a more clinical team that game would have been over in the first half.

I feel like Ben Davis is our slowest full back but the only full back who try’s to get past players and whip balls in. Rose ain’t match fit surge can’t cross and Trippier doesn’t whip balls in as often as he use to.

It got to a point in the first half were Eriksen had to take the game by the scruff because no one was actively moving and showing for the ball you can see why poch brought on lamela instead of lorente for Kane, bringing on the striker would have just been more of the same at least lamela is going to actively move and get into space.

.

Son was busy but erratic for much of the match, offering little substance, however he scored two goals to win and kill the game and was a great threat on the counter.

I was (am) useless at English, is this what is called an oxymoron? Or is it moronic nonsense?
Thanks for calling me a moron (y)

I didn’t articulate particularly well, but I merely meant that, goals aside, he was actually quite wasteful with running down blind alleys and making wrong decisions quite prevalent.

Sanchez looked quite off yesterday. Wilson were superior against him. couldn't cope with his strength and runs. Aurier was poor but got the assist and goal. Lucky imo

Son is my MOM

That was a bad start to the game and when Kane was coming off, i said to my missus that we're fucked today. But it could have been a blessing in disguise for this match alone of course - hope he's back for the Chelsea match.
Dele, Son and Eriksen suddenly knew, they have to up their game, sometimes it looks like some think Harry will save us somehow

I would give credit to Poch too - his ingame tactics were spot on. Second half we absolutely dominated them, Wanyama dopped a bit deeper which prevented them to counter attack in the manner they did the first 30 min.

A lot of positive to take from this match - even Sissoko had a good cameo.

MOM for me is Son...Even tough Eriksen did well, but Sonnys goal won us the game

I thought they all did a solid 6 I guess.

Rose and Aurier 5
Eriksen, Son 7/8

Question is do we play Davies and Tripp’s and maybe Dier in for Wanyama those are three positions that Poch needs to think about. Thought it was strange we didn’t see Lucas, anyone else? With a striker down I thought he would get some pitch time.

I .

Something that has always bothered me . However , there were 2-3 times where he made sharp ,accurate 5 yard passes with his right foot yesterday . He can do it which adds an extra layer of weirdness to this issue .

His efforts to win back the ball are incredible however . There was a recent match we were easily winning and i recall him hurling himself in to a tackle deep in the opposite half in the 90th minute . This wild pressing oh his must have a major effect on the crucial business of Spurs winning back the ball high up the pitch . Lamela 8.

Elsewhere , what a beautiful disallowed goal we made . Reminded me of the Eriksen/Dele goal vs Chelski in that final .Incredible precision from Eriksen 8.5 and a superbly controlled finish this time from Harry 7.5 .

Getting 4 goals without Harry has papered over the horrifying prospect of him being out long-term . Anxious wait today for news .

I think the key here is the opposition. Bournemouth are 3 points off the relegation zone. Yes Poch got his tactics right after he was forced into a change with Kane.

But I have to say Aurier, Rose and Wanyama were not great and a better team would have had a better day.

I know people keep saying see we are okay with Kane out but this was against Bournemouth and it is a different story V City and Chelski. Also Sky showed to stats with and without gave and our win rate was 37 to 51% without him him so he makes a difference.

I also worry that is is not just the games he is out it takes him a couple of games to get back to full speed and let’s face it, by that time the season is over!

I think Song, Lamela and Eriksen were all great today. To be honest I thought even though he got the goal and assist to Son. I thought he was just okay today, and again this was a Bournemouth defense that have struggled at the back.

Let’s hope for good news on Kane but realistically I don’t think he will be as influential as we really needed him to be and can Eriksen, Son and Lamela play the way they did yesterday for everyone of our games against better opposition until the end of the season. Maybe this is the big break they were waiting for. But our win rate without Kane and would suggest not.

The only thing I guess is, was Lamela playing during that win rate statistic and of course we didn’t have Lucas. Of course we don’t have Toby or Walker maybe it evens out?

Indeed, but I wouldn't rely on anything much being said today (unless its very good news). I might be wrong but I could have sworn that another time we were waiting on news on an injury we never got a definitive date at all. Might be wrong.

It should be Poch for the enforced change I gave it to Son just over Erksen

Dont know why lots of people expect opposition to role over and be beaten and when they are not blame a player or two for it not being the perfect game

Games are played in phases. Bournemouth started with a plan, we had to figure it out combat and then impose our own game ( as happens in nearly everygame) and move on We did. I agree with Bc that the phase late in the game ar 2-1 was nervous time but we did not lose our nerve

Hard game, opposition overcome and three points I am happy

We very rarely give one, obviously Poch is well aware of when it'll be but it makes no sense to release that information really, doing so has no bearing on when he'll be back.

Absolutely, which I was I hope they don't read your post :) They could become quite challenging again.

Eddie seems like he can buck the trend of failing English managers. It will be interesting to see how he progresses, particularly if he gets a shot with a big club. Just don't want him to be thrown in too soon, though - for his own sake. Best of luck to him (just not against us!).

Isn't that what happened at Burnley, Howe just took something big too soon? Can't recall the situation now but it was a pretty significant jump at the time. But now he's getting solid prem experience and has a decent thing going on there. I wonder if he stands to benefit from a couple more seasons where he is and then step up to an Everton, or whether he's ready now.

I don't know what to make of Howe. I appreciate the way he tries to get Bournemouth playing, and maybe at a bigger club it would click better, but I never see their team display any really impressive facet in what they do on or off the ball. The football can be quite tidy and pleasant on the eye but isn't mindblowingly inventive or fluid etc. and off the ball I see plenty of their games where they're wide open and easy to play against.

His signings since they hit the PL haven't been fantastic either. Every season he seemingly tries to improve the squad, it doesn't work out and he reverts to the core of the squad that got them promoted.

I'd agree he's done enough for an Everton-standard club to take a punt, but I haven't seen him consistently demonstrate any outstanding quality for one of the much bigger clubs to take a chance on him.
