Re Aurier. Was the pen harsh? Yes.

Is it a coincidence that hes given away 3 pens and been sent off this season? No.

Unfortunately I feel refs have unfairly ear marked Aurier. I personally can see there is a quality right back in him time will tell.

When I saw the team I knew we were going to have problems.

We need creative players and if Eriksen is not firing and we play 4 at the back, making it difficult for the fbs to get forward it makes things tough.

Davies was at least there a few times even if his delivery was poor. 6

Aurier did not put one cross in? And is an idiot. 3

Toby looked good and calm as did Jan, both 7

Wanyama broke up the play well but is not a creative force and a limited midfielder, needs a creative force next to him. 5

Sissoko the 'creative force' next to him, had a decent first half but I am still not sure where he plays or what was his is, anyway a generous 6

Eriksen off day 5

Kane not fit 5

Son the only player who looked like he wanted to be there for that reason 7.5 MOM

Lucas started well had a decent first half, then meh 6

might of done better if he had changed his studs at halftime

thought everything we did was poor, from press to passing to controlling the ball. not a stats man but that has to been in the region of our least amount of passes conversion.

think Brighton where superb, though my honest view if that was a penalty for their player catching Aurier, the slight nudge on Eriksen, and arm across Moura should of been spot kicks too

really hope that rotation doesn't cost us a top 4 spot, and with whatever our strongest XI is we can do something v Man U

We didn't lose the game yes 3 pts would've been much better 1 pt is better than 0.

I think the Eriksen one was a penalty but the ref has gave the Aurier pen as he thinks the Lino has missed the ball going out of play on their goal.

Must have watched a different game. Thought Kane was superb when dropped deeper. Making runs and fizzing passes. Made one crazy fizzed pass out to the right wing that was pure class.

He doesn't do much that Dele Alli
but by God you don't half miss him when he doesn't play.(9)
Where was the movement and inspiration.
Nobody MOM.
Toby the closest.(7)Half fit and disgruntled he may be but he's worth most of what he's asking
Worst game i've ever seen Eriksen play(5)) but at least he's in space and available.
Jan (6+)
Aurier(4) worse than
Davies who wasn't very good(5)
Wanyama (5+) Not really the creative type.
Son(6) fine assist.
HK (6) better when he dropped deeper, energised by his goal.
Moura (5+) Blew his golden opportunity, better on the right.
Lloris (6) edgy at times.
Lack of belief, intent and purpose throughout. So slow, one paced and predictable.
Sent the whole game in by post.
They need to take games like this by the scruff of the neck
and Mauricio needs to do the same to them.

Credit Brighton and Hove Albion they were good in a Brighton and Hove Albion kind of way.

I'm not defending aurier but he did not give away a pen he did not lunge in, slide in ,rugby tackle him or anything else the cock dived or tripped over his own foot and the ref bought it.

The goal lifted them to perform admirably when we were not playing great anyway due to too many changes.

And I couldn't care a fuck wether people like him or not or feel bad for him you can not play sissoko and serge together one is still trying to adapt and the other is sissoko who for all his athleticism just is not good enough for a top 6 side

That being said I voted for nobody as I wasn't impressed with anybody.

I agree, i mean he was surrounded on all sides for lots of the match and couldn't get his feet out at all. He's fine.

I totally disagree with this, thought he was extremely sloppy and was one of our worst performers.

Considering he had to perform two roles tonight (cover our defence and push forward), I thought he done pretty well. More so considering he was flanked by Sissoko - who, apart from two decent through balls to Aurier, slowed our play down considerably - and a somewhat off-colour Eriksen.

Had he not given the penalty (unfairly) away, Aurier would have scored a lot better than Davies tonight. Lack of a back-up at LB is really taking its toll. He won’t take a man on. He’s not playing those precise forward balls anymore. Can’t cross. Can’t tackle.

Wanyama and Sissoko shocking, too.

Jesus Aurier was horrific. Nevermind the awful.decision making from a defensive point of view but it got to the point where I was praying the ball wouldn't be fed out to him.

In a system where we rely on our full backs to attack effectively in the wider areas Poch has one hell of a fucking job on his hands with this guy.

People complained about Kyle Walker’s inconsistent attacking play. He's light years ahead of Aurier.

Tripper might not be as robust defensively but he's vastly superior coming forward with ball, in every respect.

Just fuck.

Toby the only real positive. He played within himself but to a decent level.

Can’t say that anyone else even had a remotely good game. The CMs were both awful and our FBs were dire.

Kane ambled around half fit, Son/Moura/Lamela all treated the ball like hot potato and we lost touch of the poor touches.

If Lloris has wrists like their keeper showed in saving Son’s effort, then he saves the pen. Certainly not easy, but it was saveable.

Ho hum. Semi on Saturday, nice to go into it with all guns blazing.

Aurier's not "robust" though, not for me. He's a flailer, arms and legs all over the place going into tackles and challenges in messy ways. He just about prods Izquierdo's leg and Izquierdo falls theatrically, but I thought it was a correct decision.

He, like Walker, gets away with a lot through sheer pace and power, but his footballing brain appears to be smaller than we could ever claim Walkers's to be. Trippier has his own flaws but is so much more reliable.

I gave Toby MOTM. Best of a poor lot that didn't cope well with the poor pitch and for the most part got everything wrong in key areas.

I feel like I’m droneing in about this, but imagine how much further down the line KWP’s development would have been if he had been given Aurier’s playing time this year? I see nothing in Aurier that warrants him getting the time invested in him over KWP and am intrigued to hear what his advantages are?

Watching the chance Alexander-Arnold is getting at Liverpool just annoys the hell out of me when I watch our own RB situation.

Kane caused us problems today the only reason Lucas was moved left was because Kane was offering such a static vocal point that poch wanted to put the more mobile son up the and try to get Kane more involved working off him.

Really poor team effort today. No tempo sloppy in possession and poor use of the ball. Never did enough to win the fight or move them out of their shape.

Toby and first half Lucas were ok everyone else was well below par (or above par for one with a low start point ;) )

Miserable display from start to finish. There was just no chance of us getting anything tonight, across the pitch we just weren't good enough.

Two fullbacks who offer absolutely fuck all in terms of stretching the flanks and threaten and use space, and that's before we get to end quality.....

A cm2 that offered very little defensively, and with the ball were pointless. If a player had a simple A to B pass, you could bet your bottom dollar one of these two would just come and get in the way of A, bumble about with the ball for a bit, before (hopefully) finding B. Completely unnecessary and not good enough.

Eriksen tried to keep us ticking in the first half, but was too deep often. Second half he seemed to completely run out of steam and just stood in midfield with the other two.

Son was ponderous and wasteful first half, went up top for the second and apart from the hustle for the goal offered nothing in terms of quality or desire. Moura was playing safe and bar a few brief moments kept, like others, coming too deep to get the ball and always wanting it to feet.

Kane..... Looked sluggish as hell first half. The second we got what seemed like admittance from Poch that he isn't fit... Son went up top to do the running (well that was the plan) whilst he swanned around as the No.10, and the touches didn't really get any crisper in this luxury role. He did score a tap in though, so all is well.......

Alderweireld looked solid on return, that's the only positive from tonight. Apart from that another performance to go with the previous two that leave fans shitting it that we're running out of steam at the final furlong.

The whole lot of them look like they need an adrenaline shot or two before the weekend, wake up please Tottenham.

Nobody stood out, overall very blah team performance against a team we could and should have beat had we stepped up even a gear or two.

Lloris - nervy and edgy. Had little confidence his bad season is anything close to being over
Aurier- uninspiring and regularly caught out again
Toby- did nothing wrong, the best player
Verts- fine, but not as composed as Toby
Davies- not great, wasted good opportunities to deliver effectively
Wanyama- Not good, thought he tried to do too much with the ball
Sissoko - Sissoko
Lucas - Sloppy but probably not all his fault. Needs to build up understanding with his team mates
Son - Not too bad I thought, did show a little bit of intent
Eriksen - Really off game from him, only one or two things came off tonight
Kane - Really fucking poor, ambling again and looked so slow tonight. Made no mistake with the goal at least

Dembele - Crap, just bumbled into Brighton congestion
Lamela - had no effect
Llorente- You know the show is over when he comes on

I saw people in the match thread saying that was the worst performance of the season. It wasn't even the worst performance this week.

For a great coach, Poch really shits the bed sometimes. You want him to rotate and make better use of the squad all season, a change here, a cute adjustment there, but no, the same faces are allowed to run themselves out, in and out of form again, then we get wholesale changes for tonight, a CB, a FB, two CM's and an AM. Sissoko in a CM2, with Wanyama. All this pitched up against the obdurate bus parkers of Brighton that did exactly the same to us at Wembley.

Inevitably, what we got was a re-run of that home game, and many other facsimile games that come with the territory we now find ourselves in. Only with the added incoherence and bumbling of a bunch of players that don't play together week in, week out, which, like an invidious footballing ebola, was passed by the bumblous excretions of the infected to the normally immune Eriksen's and Vertonghens even.

And just when you thought the drip, drip, drip, drip, drip of this game couldn't get more tortuously incohesive, Poch goes even more Jackson Pollock and decides what the game needs is the zombie who's inhabited Kane's body to take over as ACM Playmaker, Eriksen to shunted to the right wing, Moura the left, and a samelar hound on ice skates to play up front. Luckily Poch realised this was a bit shit and quickly* made changes.

We didn't lack for the desire to do the right things, we were just collectively inflicted into incapability of completing them.

Individual

Lloris - Wasn't stupid.

Aurier - Like Walker before Poch.

Alderweireld - At least he didn't put a dent in his fee.

Vertonghen - Unusually clumsy.

Davies - Meh. But not ordinary meh, fucking meh.

Wanyama - Started the game all purposeful, needs a proper 8 in there with him.

Sissoko - Point completion of 98.5%

Moura - Lennon in a tutu

Eriksen - Not full blown Bumble, but definitely a mild infection.

Son - Great on the assist, fucking piss poor all night everywhere else.

Kane of the Dead - 28 Days Later.

Pochettino - A really shit week. Dis is no fubal.

* Poch quickly - only took him 75 minutes.

Pretty sure we have won our fair share of similar pens. Can't blame the ref for giving it. If Aurier knew how to defend and was goal side of his man, there would be no argument. Currently a defensive liability.
