1st Half - We started well and with Cardiff playing like a League 2 side a rout was anticipated after we went 1-0 after 8 minutes. But there was when it ended. Cardiff woke up and Tottenham through either complacency or being charitable decided to give them the game by started playing too deep and inviting pressure, playing sideway and backward passes, no intelligent running off the ball and being 2nd in 50-50 situations. In other words sloppy. With regards to the goal, it was easier to score than to miss, anyone would have scored it if they had been lucky to be in that position, even Sissoko (The defender completely missed the ball) .

2nd Half - Just slightly better but I was still left feeling frustrated, disappointed and hollow, all be it after us getting 3 valuable points, because we looked impotent against a 10 man Cardiff playing at home.

If I could I would give their player Manga MOTM but instead I will give it to Toby. Credits also to Kane Moura, Rose, Winks and (I am not joking) Sissoko.

I'm not undecided - needs a "None Deserved" option.

Nobody played well. A few players were less meh than others.

That game was the definition of average

Let me repeat. Sissoko is our most consistent player (for being average). If sissoko looks good, then it means most our players are below average.

Toby obviously motm, hugo the second. I am wondering whether switching toby and sanchez really works. Sanchez looks more comfotable as as a Rcb.

Genuinely cannot think of a MOTM for us in that game.

Birdie - Toby and Winks
Par - Lloris, Trippier, Sanchez, Rose, Dier, Sissoko, Kane, Lamela (sub)
Bogey - Son, Moura

Not enough time to rate Wanyama or Davies.

Son and Moura in particular had to take their chances better, both in a literal sense and in the "we needed them to show their worth with Eriksen and Dele still out" sense. They did neither.

Winks needs to figure out how to start games well because he's improved minute by minute in each of his last few games after starting poorly.

Toby was the reason we didn't concede today. MOTM.

That is an odd pairing - given that Toby's best moment might have been the clearance off the line, which Lloris should have stopped before it got there.

But that is not an error for hugo. I think hugo did make one important save and one good rushing cleanance

Gone for Toby for a couple of crucial clearances, not a lot of competition sadly.

This will be controversial but Sissoko was decent and put in a better shift than most.

Lloris - 6 - a good near post save and some dodgy passes, normal day at the office
Tripps - 6 - such great control and passing, real spurs - but got skinned too
Toby - 7 - my motm, a fantastic clearance and generally good game
Sanchez - 6- some good some bad, mostly good
Rose - 6 - energy and drive, a real attacking threat, got skinned too
Dier - 6- nicely taken goal, generally okay, better day at the office
Winks - 7 - getting better and more involved/positive with each game
Sissoko - 5 - some good/some bad, does not know what to do with a ball except pass it back to where it came from
Moura - 5 - Townsend with Maracas, got into good position and missed, always fades, a better impact sub
Son - 6 - some good dribbles, missed a good chance, kept to our pressing game, good running off the ball, got subbed for Lamela regardless, seems Poch decides his first 1 or 2 subs anf the minute before kick-off
Kane - 6 - played far too deep, had some shots, okay day at the office
Lamela - 6- face like deer on coke face, normal day at the office
Wanyama - net
Davies
- net

This season. I always feel we need a 2 goal cushion before we properly control the game. When we're on song, we break quickly. At the m9ment we tend to have an extra touch or pass for no benefit.

Disagree I'd say that's seeing the game out , holding on implies we were under pressure
Your just commenting for the sake of it.... Hugo save onto the post stopped us potentially being humiliated.... Cardiff at home with 10 men for most of the 2nd half should not end like it did. That was torture

Weird game tbh. As individuals I thought a lot of players had good moments. Kane Son moura especially winks. I’m struggling to work out why we are giving up so many chances and never really feel in control of a game. Normally you’d pinpoint CM for that but winks was our best player. But as I thought this during the game I was looking out for dier and most of the time he wasn’t there. Don’t wanna pick on him as he scored our goal and is an easy target. But we just have no control of the game with him in there. And the amount of faffing about at the back with the ball was incredible at times. Anyways 3 pts and beat West Ham in 2 weeks will be our best ever start under Pochettino quite incredible really.
