Eriksen poor? What were you watching? I've been on his back all season but that was the best game he's had in a while and as soon as he came off we looked worse.

Davies - 6
Carroll - 6
Dier - 6
Lamela - 7
Eriksen - 7

From now on, can we not do player ratings and have an additional option for Jan/Toby as one?

Agree. I thought that was the wrong sub. Eriksen was pushing us forward very well, still pussies out of challenges far too frequently

The problem is Alli was playing really well and scored and Lamela is so important to our pressing. Tough to pick the sub unless he would take out Kane (who was pretty ineffective today) and put Son up top.

I agree he was terrible. Our worst player, a complete passenger for all the game. I think my Nan could make more of an effort in tacking. He doesn't even bother with a 50/50 let alone trying to win the ball when he isn't favourite. Such a weak player. When he is playing well and when he is the creative outlet we can forgive him for that as he can be a match winner, but as it is now he offers nothing.

Alli, Toby - 7.5

Carroll, Davies, Verts, Lloris - 7

Walker, Eriksen - 6.5

Dier, Lamela - 6

Kane - 5

Kane was very very poor. I was frustrated with Dier as well. Not his usual self of late.

Carroll was industrious and passed well but he was pants in defending. He's good but when he plays we need to have 2 strong defensive midfielders.

And Son, although coming on as a sub had a very poor game as well. He doesnt seem to have the confidence he had when he first came.

He had a very good first half and OK second half. Kept pulling out of challenges that saw the ball a lot closer to him than it did to the opponent

Main thoughts:

Alderweireld is doing more to convince me every game that he's one of the best central defenders in world football.

Alli has phenomenal raw talent.

Carroll at the moment makes too many bad decisions and poor passes, especially given that these are supposed to be his main attributes.

Dier needs to watch it with his passing. Sometimes keeping it simple is the best option.

Davies is at the very least an excellent back up LB.

Agree with the exception of Eriksen and Lamela who I'd swap in your ratings. Eriksen was a constant problem for them...he worked between the lines very well and saw a lot of ball, retaining possession nicely. Lamela was not as involved as normal and was in foul mode.

I've gone for Alli motm...he's something we've not had since forever and is surely going to keep improving. His movement in supporting Kane and his ability to find space is excellent, especially when considering his age. He also gets stuck in and is a right fitty (in the athletic sense). Oh, and then there's his composure. Yep, lad's a real find.

Also, you forgot Son, son. He was awful.

Son needs to take closing down lessons from Lamela. Eriksen put a better shift in but still not at his best. Carroll was sloppy at times. Otherwise decent performances all round. Unlucky not to win.

Thought Davies was very good. It really is a shame he is slow, if he was fast he'd be one hell of a LB IMO.

Really good games from the CB's again as well as Dier and Lamela.

Thought Kane was really poor. I'm starting to worry about the way he faded in that second half. He looked buggered.

If Watford can sign a player like Ighalo out of nowhere?

That hold up play is so vital to the way we play football and Son really isn't the player to take his place.

I'd like to give a shout out to Carroll. I though he played well when he wasn't unnecessarily giving the ball away.

He did play well despite some saying otherwise.

Lloris 7.5- Good performance made a couple of important saves

Walker 7- OK
Toby 8 MOM didn't really put a foot wrong and fabulous pass for the goal
Vertonghen 7- OK
Davies 7- Solid enough and dealt with Deulofeu pretty well

Carroll 6- I thought he was OK, a bit sloppy at times but if anything the manager should be criticised for picking him rather than the boy himself because he can't really do much about his physique. I think he needs to play in a 4-3-3 system.
Dier 6- OK, nothing spectacular..

Alli 7- Not great in all round play but fabulous goal.
Lamela 5.5- Frustrating game by his standards.
Eriksen 7- One of our better attacking players, especially in the first half.

Kane 6- Pretty good first half but faded very quickly

Son 6- OK
Chadli & Onomah NET really.

Trouble is, we have such a good side at the moment we can't afford to play someone in the first 11 if they give the ball away in dangerous positions on a regular basis.

I don't want to give up on him, but I personally don't think he should be starting games.
