MOTM - Away support.

Everton crowd were reduced to occasional boos, and it's a big thing coming to Goodison, famous for boos and less for their singing.
Even our worst performers today were spared scrutiny, in my view, because of the team spirit and unity with our support.
Sure, scoreline helped a lot, but performance and support were feeding each other throughout the game.
Whoever you were in the stands, you were magnificent!

Son will get the plaudits but Eriksen was excellent. MOM for me though was Sissoko who simply battered them into submission. Must be an absolute nightmare to play against when he's in this sort of form. Couldn't be happier for him.

The whole team have been Heroes this year, but, with regards to today’s game against the Toffees...

Lloris – Good in both halves. Bon. Bon. As they say in France.

Trippier – Nice free-kick, but a bit Flakey in defence

Davies – Decent, but his best isn’t as good as Rose’s

Sanchez – Crunchie in the tackle

Alderweireld – We were a little open in defence, but he Revels in these games

Winks – Kept things ticking over Twix’t defence and attack

Eriksen – His goal after half-time gave us a real Boost

Sissoko – Used to provoke Snickers, now it’s cheers.

Son - Great finishing. Love his Celebrations. MOTM.

Alli – Treet’ed us to another wonderful performance.

Kane – Fudged a couple of chances, but always up for trying again and scored a great goal.

Lamela – Everyone loves Coco

Moura – Came on After Eight had been scored to give Sissoko a rest.

Skipp – He’s the Aero apparent to the DM berth.

As for Everton, they did OK (Bar Six)

Son gets the nod from me.
Good to see Sanchez back, he had a decent game after coming back from injury.
Tripps was poor for their first goal. Lloris not alert enough for their second. Everyone else looked first rate.

I actually thought we were going to get ten plus at about the 40 minute mark, every time we went forward I thought we were going to score.
That was a complete dismantling.
Tripps looked out of sorts again and Lloris really didn’t have much to do, as an all round team performance I’d say they were the only two who had par performances, the rest were bang on it.

I thought Trippier was good today. Am I the only one?

His passing is fantastic, decent free kick, and his trademark chip down the line is very effective at splitting defences.

Agree his defending needs improvement but I don’t blame him massively for the opener. It was Winks’s misjudgment that led to it.

Gets a lot of unfair criticism on here for me.

Son clear MOTM. For me, was a good performance all round, except for Lamela, who seemed to get dispossessed or give away possession repeatedly -- though he played the throughball that got Son his second, so even he contributed, I guess.

3 way split for me. Thought kane, son and eriksen were all superb.

Said when kane was 19 he could be like sheringham (people were writing him off), his passing is sublime. Also gets 30 goals a season.

Harry Winks was outstanding. It's hard to give him MotM because the front four were so good, but he made it all possible for them. Just so good on the ball, picking it up, recycling, picking it up, recycling, ad infinitum, and used it so bloody efficiently; 66 passes at 96% is just ridiculous. It was a wonderful 'deep-lying playmaker' performance.

The front four were all excellent though, and as such it makes it difficult to pick a MotM. I'd probably have to go with Son, but the other three and Winks aren't far off.

Lloris: 6
Trippier: 6
Sanchez: 7
Alderweireld: 7
Davies: 6
Sissoko: 8
Winks: 9
Eriksen: 9
Dele: 8
Son: 9
Kane: 8

Lamela: 7
Lucas: 6
Skipp: 7

Everton gave up after the 3rd goal but there was a point where we could be 2 nil down after the ref gave a non existent foul on Sanchez. Eriksen motm for his control the whole match. Front four were unstoppable! The only down note was trippier and sanchez were trying their b3st to throw the match in the 1st 15 mins

I've gone for Lamela MOTM.

Really good performance that. Another great performance from Sissoko and cameo from Skipps.

Really? I thought he was off colour today - his control and dribbling let him down and misplaced a fair few passes, The assist ball to Sonny was great but he almost lost the ball just before when it got away from him. I agree about Sissoko and Skipp.

We were good today uh.. Had real swagger at times and away at Everton is a tough game.

Lloris... He has lost his aura to me, but didn't overly have to much to do apart from the 2/3 goals. Decent distribution and went long more often than usual.

Trippier, still a little shakey defensively but as usual does his best to make up for that with his passing, of which is high standard. Not an athlete but is a baller. He was a good footballer today.

Davidson... Looked well rusty and would fault him for the goal that wasn't and also for siggy's. Played rusty but undoubted potential. In addition I don't think the chemistry works between DS and TA, swap either with Jan and they work well instantly. Something doesn't work In this combo and I don't know why.

Toby.. Played well and was far better individually that DS but again read above re chemistry.

Davies.. Good game.

Winks, went about business, not showy ut very effective. Gave others a platform. I prefer a free'er role winksy but he has to be commended for his discipline and selflessness as well as his neat passes, out ball movement and Consistancy over this period.

Sissoko.. Good stuff again, he's played better recently but when I say this it so nice to see his new slightly less is still so so good for the team. Good transitioning and swift passing, another few nice through balls 3/4 field.

Eriksen growing rapidly in this midfield 3 / diamond shape hybrid. Love his fast long passes on the deck in this role. That's proper proper football.

Alli. Up to half time was out mom. Upstaging everyone at the moment which is tough considering the quality of his teammates. Seems to have found extra swagger recently juxtaposed with more simple play. Great stuff.

Son.. Saw today on screen he had 9 goals in last 9 starts, which I have t checked but he's in good form. This 2 with kane suits him and also. Allows a 3 with alli in the hybrid where he can drift out left. 2 Nice goals and the assist was breathtaking. He's like our very own Ronaldo. Only he's our son. His energy and hearty vibes is lovely in our team.

Kane, looked really good today, though could and should of had 5. In a way his importance to the team individually is lesser but the team play better. I know that's a weird thing to say. Did look more his old self and his bits today goals assists and passing were exceptional.

Lamela, played well but needs to release quicker and got caught up a few times. Maybe it was alli that was so high in performance that showed this up but felt we lost something when he went off.

Lucas not much time and didn't really notice much good or bad.

Skipp I did notice probably more due to positioning. Had a good few minutes and good to see this integration. Think he'll start one of the games in this busy period. Outstanding block too.

MOTM: My dad, every time he turned the match on Everton scored, sacrificed his viewing for the team.

10s all round especially to Everton, who helped the homeless this Christmas.

Completely agree about Winks. Not so long ago we saw hours and hours of side to side stuff which made us look stagnant. Lately though, the ball is being zipped around on all sorts of angles and it's a joy to watch. I don't think it's any coincidence that Harry Winks is right in the middle of this, and when he's combined with Eriksen dropping deep and a rampaging Sissoko it must be an absolute nightmare to play against.

Lol my dad watched it on delay and wow he was swearing it as per usual but thankfully as the game turned out rather jolly well he started to calm down a bit. :)

It was tongue in cheek. I agree and thought Lamely was poor overall. His head was quicker than his feet. He could have really imposed himself with all of the space given to him.

Great player to bring off the bench just a shame that he couldn't make more of the opportunity.

He literally got an assist.

Just.

And that doesn't mask a pretty poor performance overall.

He had some good moments and a load of poor ones.

Still having a good injury free season and contributing well.

And yeah it pretty much does, Poch isn't gonna be losing sleep over the fact that Lamela lost and held onto the ball a few times when we were 3 goals in the lead and cruising, when in fact he made a positive contribution when he came onto the pitch.

Made a point of this earlier in the match thread
