I can guarantee you if we play both lamela and eriksen against everton we're gonna get battered. I think they can only play together in a 433 as it stands and that's not gonna happen.

Eriksen is not physical and has no interest in being so and that is a problem and it will prove to be restrictive in how we play him until poch has his way with the squad and can offer proper protection around him.

Chiri is much more adventurous down the flank but - you probably noticed - he did flick the suicide switch 2/3 times today and could well have given them a penalty for his nudge on whoever that chap was trying to score in the final mins.

We're a proper fucking mess.

Agree about the fullbacks: Yedlin, walker, fredericks battling it out for RB and Arw would be nice. Even using yedlin at LB on occasion just for the speed factor down that flank until we can flog rose and bring another LB in could be a solution.

Something like...

Lloris

Walker Dier Verts Yedlin

Mason Stambo

Fredericks Lamela/Eriksen Chadli

Kane
Would give us the flank range we need and Mason would be able to join in the attacks more freely knowing his partner woldn't be in the shit as the FBs and Ar/l wingers have good recovery in them.

I disagree. I don't enjoy Eriksen's weakness without the ball, but I believe in this side, right now he's the luxury we have to afford, not just for his productivity - he's our most productive player and was last year - but on a good day he's also heavily involved in the general play. On top of setting one up, scoring one he also made 71 passes.

We need to drop out Soldado, get Kane leading the press from the front, supported by Lamela (who will) and Chadli with Eriksen doing his best. Sooner we get Pritchard back the better IMO. He's a feisty little fucker who can play too.

I definitely wouldn't want two speedy but dim types down the same flank, you just don't need Walker/Lennon or Walker/Fredericks down the same flank. I think Walker's a bit of a fuckwit, but I'd happily see him back in place of the other options we've been living with.

I'm more worried about Poch's insistence on sticking to a 4231 and his choice of CM2 within that. He needs to get that CM2 pair right or switch to a 433 soonish.

Why do the idiot pundits keep saying vertonghen went down embarrassingly, Ramirez wrapped his leg in such a way Vertonghen has no choice but to go down, it's not like he rolled around and held his fucking face ?

Refs are extremely reluctant to send 2 players off in a game. They don't want to risk it being wrong as it makes such a dent in a team.

He was standing there, it was the easiest call in the world, you can't tackle from behind for a start. He's come from behind, studs up and scissored him. The fucking trifecta. He could have sent him off three times for that one tackle.

He'll stick to 4231.

We won't be seeing eye-to-eye on this lamela/eriksen thing then. I can't see it working as things stand.

Would love it to, but I just can't picture it right now.

Eriksen has to follow lamela's lead in physical application or he'll go the same way as mata.

I agree but they are loathed to do it.

You get lucky sometimes, but it's rare.

I think if Pochettno can get those around him working well and the CM2 situation solved, Eriksen's lack of tenacity can be accommodated.

this is where that particular piece of itk falls down for me though. he could've called up a youth player instead(ball was on the bench afterall) and not only was lennon in the squad but he came on as well when he could've brought ceballos on instead. maybe there is something to the info but i don't think lennon's in the dog house as much as you hope.
Have to agree with you one hundred percent. Lennon did not play like a player rolling out of bed to collect a pay check. In fact i'd start him with Eriksen and (if fit) Chadli next week.

That's the problem though, I think we'll just have to wait for his type of players to be brought in/through. Can't see it with the squad we currently have, unfortunately.

If he played stambo next to Mason that would help, but it still wouldn't solve the issue imo.

We'll probably see them both against everton anyway, so you'll see what I'm on about as e'ton don't mess around irt physicality and determination and effort so we'll have a dogfight on out hands...if we care to join it.

We all see things differently and maybe to you it wasn't that bad. What I saw today was a team completely void of any cohesiveness or confidence. The term "team" is a long way off what I saw today.
I don't know enough about Poch to like or dislike him. I (like many) only know what ITK have said and some youtube vids of his team bonding exercises.
Did you stop watching after the first half? Regardless of them being down to ten men (it's often harder to play against as they put everyone behind the ball and just sit back and defend – especially when they are 1-0 up). We played some great stuff in the second half. We really looked a threat.

Maybe it's because we've been starved of any decent performances, it's skewed my view a tad.

I said this in the match thread, but this was different than vs a 10 men Villa side. We played alot better today and created alot more chances. Honestly should have scored at least another goal or 2 today. Not only did we have like 90% possession in the 2nd half today, but we were actually able to do something with all that possesion. We deserved the 3 points based on the 2nd half play. We looked like scoring in the 2nd half today. We never looked like scoring vs VIlla. I actually have no clue how the hell we got 3 points out of that one. Today I think we thoroughly deserved the 3 points because of the 2nd half.

Lloris - 5
Dier - 2 - but he is not an RB at all so i'll forgive him
Fazio - 5.5 - is it just me or does it seem like this guy is angry 100% of the time? Always looks absolutely fuming
Verts - 6 - celebration bumps the 5.5 to a 6.
Davies - 7 - Rose has been put on notice today
Dembele - 5
Mason - 7
Lamela - 6
Eriksen - 8 - Played great today. Unlucky to not score that free kick, but thank god Kane was there to put it in. Scored the winner on something he made himself, really. God I love him.
Kane - 7 - goal bumps him up to a 7 from a 6.
Soldado - 5.5 - really should have scored that one. not sure how he missed at all, but even though he did not score today he still contributed alot, IMO

Chiriches - 6.5 - provided much needed attacking play down the right and always looked to pass forward. did well, IMO. Played his way into another chance, IMO.
Lennon - 6.5 - another one who played very well and provided much needed pace and width. Didnt look lost or absent, shockingly. However, when Poch was giving him instructions as he was about to come on, it did not look like he was listening, which may lend credence to the ITK.
Paulinho - NET

Pochettino - 9 nothing to complain about today. Loved the squad selection. Nailed it with the subs and at the right time too.

Fan who celebrated the winner - 10. MOTM. By. Far.

Rose will be sold in the sumemr imo. I don't think it gets any betetr with him, he's a limited player.

Walker is a liability. But, yeah, looking forward to the technical work poch can do on him.
Poch, like many others (including me), has thankfully realised that Rose has been good so no, he's not going to be sold. If you were right, why has Davies only started one game in the PL (yesterday)?

Interesting ITK on the civil war going on at Spurs . Its been my contention in these threads for weeks that some players are simply ignoring Poch's instructions . Lots of SC chat about minor technical alterations when to me the issue has been a very simple power struggle between the lazier players and Poch (6)
Obviously , good luck to Poch

Perfect entertainment for the Spurs fan . Like a cinema blockbuster..the bad guys in black costumes are triumphant at the start, the good guys are in a terrible fix ...practically annihilated even (we were dead lucky not to be 2-3 down by half time) .
Then the bad guys do something dastardly and the good guys come back ...and at the very ,veeeery end , the good guys triumph .All written by a standard cliched Hollywood script writer . I thoroughly enjoyed it all myself .

Pile of shit from commentators re the sending off . One was convinced it was just a hand pat on Vert's arse til he saw it 3rd time . Verts did not make anything of it..looked to be completely surprised to be brought down from behind with a scissors kick . Remember Beckham's little flick vs Argentina when on the floor ? sent off . This was miles worse .

I thought this was Lamela's (7.5) best Prem game for us . A deffo starter . Ericksen (7.5) actually started appallingly , his first half dozen passes were intercepted.. anyway he blossomed and like his Danish manager said recently, he's come back to excellence great cos God we need him .
Everyone has spotted how well Chiriches (6) played at RB . Hopefully Dier (5) RB experiment is over . I've always liked Chiriche's clever feet and RB could give him more opportunities to shine .
Lennon (6) off the bench works imo . Don't be fooled into starting him tho.
Dembo (4) is in the worst form I've seen from him . Could be no regular starts is affecting him...but I wouldn't start him in the Prem atm.

Excellent away support

Not the slightest idea how things'll go vs Everton , could well be another mare . Hopefully the civil war will be nearer a conclusion . Fingers crossed for Poch .

Agree, I'm all for acknowledging when our players are acting up - but Ramirez only has himself to blame- Bruce should be fuming at him. Vertonghen just looked perplexed.

Honestly speaking, I didn't think it was that bad of a game.

With the ball we looked very good, more composed than I've seen us in a long while, we chased down a fair bit, but you could almost sense the panic set in once Hull had the ball in our third of the pitch.

I saw many tweets to the likes of - this is the worst I've ever seen us play, I disagreed with that, I thought it wasn't that bad, and other than Loris making a wonder save, Livermore's goal was decent and we were unfortunate that the clearance wasn't picked up by any midfielders.

In fact, I thought Eriksen was our worst performer in the first half, struggled to get the ball under control, few poor passes, shocking defensive duties leaving Davies exposed on his own.

I also like the look of Fazio & Verts as CB's, thats a pairing that could actually start to gel and become rather strong, whilst pace of Fazio is a worry, lets not forget the slowest CB in the league is John Terry, who is also one of the best out there. We need defenders to defend, get their head in the way, clear the ball - as priority.

Midfielders - that boy Mason is one tidy player, a very tidy player, always looking for the ball, always in peoples faces, always hassling, always looking to go forward with intent. Lucky to have him, lots of Arsenal fans on my twitter feed were being rather complimentary about him yesterday.

Eriksen settled after waking up, and I thought Chiriches gave a bloody good display down the right, I'd prefer him there over Dier at the moment, just that additional pace is a threat.

Lamela - that boy works hard, and you can see he has some technical ability, just some of his decision making can be rather poor at times, I feel when it starts clicking (with the rest of the team), we'll start seeing the real Lamela.

Kane/Soldado - my pairing of choice to be honest, Soldado in particular offers much more than scoring goals (thankfully), his work rate and movement is fantastic to see, really splits defenders - in particular when the likes of Eriksen & Lamela get on the ball.

We can only beat whats in front of us, and we've been on the end of some poor referring thats seen us lose a player, but overall, I'm happy we continued and showed a little bit of killer instinct. It's what we need.

As for the latest ITK - it really doesn't surprise me. Loris as captain. Just ignore the fuckers who don't give a shit, stick with Poch, give him the tools he needs to do the job, ship out the others, even if it means playing youth.

This game should put a rest on the experiment of Dier as a RB. He has not been comfortable in that position the last few games he played there. Reminds me of Naughton being played as a LB.

I personally think that if Kane and Soldado swop playing position from the onset it would be better.....But i also strongly feels that the team should not have both Soldado and Eriksen playing at the same time. Both are lacking in tracking back and abit "light weight" in challenges and not really aggresive. So i hope if ever Eriksen, not available for selection in the near future, i hope to see a 3 AM of Chadli, Soldado and Lamela. Yes, Soldado was bought to score goals but since he is having difficulties doing that presently, he still makes plays and link ups well. But if all are fit, than the 3 AMs will be Chadli, Eriksen and Lamela with Kane as the lone striker.
