tough, tough game and well made up to be still in with a chance.

The back five were good, welcome back Jan, and Winks was more forward thinking- he can win me over with more of this.

Lamela fanboys- heart in mouth when he committed that stupid two footed lunge? He has to do better than that. Very lucky to avoid an early bath.

Having a strong bench made the difference as they tired. I fancy Son to do some more damage on Sunday.

Two down, one to go...

I think tonight showed moura and lamela are very much the understudies. Ok to play one in a game but both weakens us. But fine for rotation in the lesser games. But the Chelsea team plus vertoghen and maybe winks for Dier is very much the current A team.

Not sure that is a correct conclusion but I understand such an emotive reaction. What is clear though is that Lucas is way off the form he showed at the start of the season. Lamela too does not quite look at his best. The other side of the coin is that Son who was away then out of form looks back to his best, Dele, Eriksen and Kane too seem to be hitting form they did not display early in the season.

So it's great to have options that allow for loss of form and fitness

Sissoko got my motm. He bossed that game like he has done multiple times this season . He has so much energy when playing in a central area that he can go from breaking up an attack to suddenly bombing up the pitch and scaring the opponents defence . He is not as skilful as dembele but the pace and and power makes up for it . Last season I was constantly head in my hands with him , I wanted him to do well but couldnt see it ever happening and i can only assume him and poch figured out what needed to be done.

I think depending on the opposition they both have a big part to play.

Think folk are being a little harsh on Lucas; certainly not one of his better games but even then he offers something very different with the ball at his feet. He wins a lot of free kicks (should have been at least one yellow against him yesterday), and he also puts himself about a lot.

Certainly can do with better movement at times, but it's great to have the variety that he offers (we have real riches in this sense across the AM positions).

What do you expect from Spurs supporters? They usually support players by being flavour of the day. They will laud you up one week and God forbid you go off form then you are shit and should be shown the door. And the reverse is true as well. They call you shit and a month later they have you on a pedestal even linking you to a move to Real Madrid (Sissoko).

It's a see-saw when it comes to our attacking mids. Lamela and Lucas were both off the boil last night but still work hard and put themselves about. Suddenly, it's "they're definitely our subs" / "not starters" etc, even though the same was recently said about Eriksen and Son.

I'm not sure why any of our 5 AMs has to start every match; the season's long, games are tough, and each of them has notable unique traits. Their form fluctuates, obviously, but Dele, Son, Lamela, Eriksen and Lucas are all superb individuals when at their best.

I thought aurier played really well tonight.

Went with Jan for MOTM as you wouldn't have known he was injured for several weeks with that performance, just slotted in perfectly and put on a great display.

Aurier did a lovely dummy tackle in the box. Went in like he has going to dive in and then stopped. Totally deceived the attacker and he walked away with the ball. Was lovely play.

It's crazy how in our time of need, Sissoko, Aurier, Foyth, Gazzaniga, Winks, Moura and Lamela (until the last couple) have rose to the occasion this season to help keep things going. He's magic you know. Squad depth is looking good now our big boys seem to be finding form and fitness.

Had to be Sissoko for MOTM for me, that goal was made by that burst and pass to Dele, as good as the resulting play was. The guy is simply a beast, an absolute physical specimen that seems to have had an epiphany on his strengths and weaknesses, playing with great confidence but also within his limitations. Long may it continue. As long as he keeps his head and avoids silly lapses, he is going to be a very key player in this squad going forward. Which feels surreal to type!

One of the Inter players ran into the back of him at a corner and ended up on their arse, he's a wall!

Shout out to Toby for a huge late block, and Hugo for the Perisic save. Verts slotted in great and the FBs were solid, which is important in such a big game. Dele really starting to round his game out too, even if he wasn't at his best he just seems to be getting classier, enjoying his evolution.

Huge game on Sunday, what a week this could be!

Take a trip over to The Fighting Cock, that's where he posts nowadays.

Here's the last thing he posted in their Sissoko thread though, 15 mins before today's match:

"Sissoko doesn’t have to make an overt fuck up to “cost us” something, having a player in our midfield that takes three touches to control the ball, treats the ball like a hot potato, continually passes behind or at people in a way that means they can’t take a ball in stride, passes the ball by numbers with no incision or wit, doesn’t read the game well at all - is costing us, it’s just much harder to quantify than when a defender gets done and we concede a goal. "

So I've done just that and, as you note, he hasn't shifted his stance at all in any way. In fact he seems to be doubling down.

But, boy, does he cop some heat from the posters there. It's like a non-stop twitter pile on. Felt a bit sorry for him actually as he gamely insists Sissoko was actually very poor last night.

thought Deli was very good tonight, too. He's dropping deeper lately and doing more of the midfield dirty work.

It feels like he's taken a step up this year to me. He's been out for a bit, admittedly, but I think his all round play is noticeably better. Which is ace

This is exactly what I think - well posted. Any positive reps for this post should also be added to mine, cheers

Maybe or just the other 3 have come back with a bang, fresh and hungry. Plus they have played together, Lamela and Lucas started the season whilst Son, Eriksen and Ali have had not got going / had injuries. We have 5 very good attacking players.

After seeing the Sissoko transformation I’m not wtlriting anyone off ever again.

Great result last night especially after that brilliant performance v Chelski when they all worked unbelievably hard

Couldn't pick a MOTM last night, as there is a good case for about 3 or 4, maybe just Jan after coming straight back in after injury

The Toby/Jan combo in a back 4 on the big pitch at Wembley seriously worries me though as we all saw until Sanchez came in. Any team with some serious pace up top will ruin those two and Davies certainly cannot cover them. Also with such a slow back line means we cannot squeeze right up the pitch leaving acres of space in behind

Why do you write as if you're writing a poem?
Because I can
Why don't you?
