KWP for me. Really makes me wonder why we bothered with Aurier when we could have got a CM with the same money.

Went for KWP.

Thought it was Danny Roses' best game of season, not back to best yet but I really hope we can keep him. He should be first choice LB next season, we're a much better team with him in it.
Rose is the player MP needs to have a long chat with this week.
That was not a player 'looking to avoid injury before his big move' out there today.
He was 100% committed.

Of course that could have been an attempt to claim a first XI spot for England in the summer.
But if he has come to the conclusion that just maybe it is not so bad here after all, and can keep his mouth shut over the summer, then maybe he should get another chance to be first choice again and in time win a lucrative contract for himself. Motm

was KWP, but he wasn't far behind.

I'll give them all 100 out of 10 as the last match of the season. Even if some of them don't deserve it.

Totally agree. I was looking for reasons to slate him but he played like he was a spurs player.

Lloris prevented us going 1-3 down with a stunning save. Don't think he could so much with any of the ones that went past him.

KWP made an error for 0-1 and struggled a bit with Gray but did very well offensively, on this showing he's a perfect 3-4-3 wing-back for us. My MOTM and I hope we see a lot more of him next season.

Toby and Dier did not do well at all, the wrong pairing up against their quick players but understandable given the circumstances. They struggled all the way until Sanchez was subbed on. Better in the 3-4-3.

Rose - where did this come from, Danny? Showed his worth in attack and as far as I could tell wasn't culpable for any defensive mistakes.

Wanyama started brightly, pretty much gave away a goal and was iffy and often overrun after that. Hope he gets a good pre-season and rediscovers proper form.

Sissoko was Sissoko. Scared of the ball, did pretty much everything as safe as possible. Ran around a lot and had a couple of good dispossessions but didn't help Wanyama out in the middle when VW was struggling. Just isn't good enough for where we want to be.

Lamela had one of the worst halves I've seen from any player this season in the first. Massively redeemed himself in the second and I thought unfortunate to be subbed when on a hat-trick.

Eriksen keeps us ticking and is far and away our most important player. Another good display.

Lucas was largely good and grafted well. Gave them a hard time in spells. Disappeared a bit before his sub.

Kane scored two very good goals and looked much more like his true self, but had he not been so egotistical he could've squared balls for two more goals. Also ran and grafted much better today.

--------------

Sanchez - thank feck. Stabilised our defence and we coped with them a lot better after he came on.

Dele kept the ball well at the end, did little else of note.

Son had too little time for a proper review.

Plus a BOBB for how many expletives are used.

He's not always wrong though.
People have won Pulitzer prizes for such pioneering journalism

And mentions of improving (or not) since Redknapp/Sherwood.

I’m on a train. On my phone which is running out of battery. Going to be on a plane tomorrow so might not get a chance to write a full missive for a while, so I am going to use the medium of song to express my tactical analysis (you need to give it until at least 1 min 45.

Dier has been ill all week so bit of leeway. Wanyama is a massive worry truly awful today and all season when played tbh. Would have no issue selling if can find a more cultured DM.

After watching game again maybe bit harsh on wanyama. But was very poor on their 3rd and left horribly exposed on 4th when had to drop into back 4. I’d still maintain if we can get a decent price I’d upgrade. Have to say Alderweireld was really poor defensively. Played one very nice pass but his actual defending was really lacklustre and weak. In regard to being solid looked a completely different team moment Sanchez came on.

I think considering last seasons form and the circumstances of this seasons form Wanyama deserves another season before we write him off, upgrading him isn’t gonna be particularly easy

Your off your rocker. That was like Wanyama v Leicester out there for big chunks of that game. The fucking bumbaseed next to him did fuck all, even his point count was down. Wanyama was tearing about like a **** because idiots like Kane, Moura, Sissoko and Lamela were like headless chickens on mogadon.

He’s also playing with an injury.

Very entertaining match with great ending. We're all feeling good as 3rd represents an improvement on most of the season . Congrats all round .

Mom I'm giving to Moura (7) KWP (7) was in the frame

Player of season for me...Verts . Played so well . Also has shown some loyalty (rare these days). I'll always remember him saying at a critical time , how it would be better to win something with a team of friends like Spurs than as one of the mercenaries at a billionaire's plaything club .
No Toby (4) -like agitation for 'last big contract' . These guys are all multimillionaires , its easy to let oneself feel sorry for a player if you forget this .

Weird malaise this last 5 weeks . Bit miffed with Son's apparent season finish in March -April . Amazed he got minutes when so clearly
not interested in helping us . Moura sidelining seemed insane in the face of this Korean cop-out . He only nosed in front in the pecking order in this last match . V slow from Poch imo .

Poch in-game management remains a concern . Apart from that he and staff have been outstanding again .Poch-Levy relationship will be story of the summer wonder how it'll payout ( typo I've left in.. meant playout ! )

Good season of interesting posts in the Match -rating thread (8) too . Congrats to the numerous intelligent posters with frequently insightful posts in here .
