Great game for neutrals but lousy for fans of both sides as it was ping pong from the get go. I understand our defence was makeshift with neither Jan or Davinson available to start but still it was a fucking shambles. The marking on corners and set pieces was abysmal and the way we contrived to lose Vardy for the first goal was a circus pantomime.

I felt that Vic and Sissoko in the middle was a disaster and they both struggled with Leicesters pace. For the first 35 minutes the Foxes looked like fucking Barca and we were at sixes and sevens. Apart from the forays up the flanks by Danny Rose and KWP there was little respite from the Leicester counter attacks. There were a few cameos where KWPs crosses saw both HK and Lamela arriving on time with the Foxes doing some last ditch defending. This was an indication of how we would put them to the sword in the second half.

I thought the 2-1 at half time was about right as we were shambolic and pulled out of shape easily. Toby and Dier looked as thought they had just met for the first time in the tunnel.

Second half and we go down 3-1 and I am thinking how the hell did we get here? Then a remarkable turn around with Lamela timing his runs beautifully to put us back in the game. I have to say that Harry’s second goal was simply sublime, wrong footing the defence and curling in a pearler.

I thought Hugo had an excellent game, kept us in it with some smart saves. But please Hugo no more dribbling in your penalty area FFS. Danny Rose was 150% into it commitment wise and it was good to see the return of the angry little man. A nice performance from KWP with his offensive game but pretty woeful defensively in sections when Leicester were counter attacking at will. His positioning was also poor but there was a lot of positives overall.

I don’t know what to make of the center. Toby, Eric Dier, Vic and Sissoko all played badly. The aggressive high line against a team like the Foxes with Vardy, Gray etc is a lottery and if you don’t play as a unit with the offside trap, they will punish you, which is what happened. I was disappointed with Moura. I thought he choose to shoot at distance when a pass was preferable. Eriksen struggled to have any influence for long periods and Harry and Erik Lamela were passengers in the first half apart from Harry’s goal. All in all not one of our better performances. The flimsiness in our CM play and lack of concentration in defence over recent weeks came back to haunt us. We’ve looked poor since Chelsea. A lucky win in my opinion.

Lamela MOM followed closely by Hugo, Rose and KWP. The team looks knackered and a few players have been shown up in the last two months. We need some fresh blood. Still to give the lads their due, they stuck to their guns, didn’t let their heads drop and fought back. A fantastic courageous effort and it shows the fighting spirit and self belief Poch has instilled in the team. When you consider having to play home games at Wembley, adjust to a bigger pitch, cope with injuries to key players etc. it’s been a fantastic effort and I am very proud of Poch and the team.

Will Poch get funds to reboot the side? I doubt it will happen. He needs to sort out the FB positions and CM needs an overhaul and has to get cover for HK. Levy will have to take a financial risk. I think we have travelled as far as we can by holding on to the purse strings. Not great timing for ENIC with stadium debt but who dares wins. It will be an interesting summer before we get back to NWHL.

Pochettinho has won the league on financial fair play imo Manchester City United had spent millions to finish 1st and 2nd. What we have done this season is fantastic.

I feel Pochettinho has taken this squad as far as he could and now needs a bit more backing in the transfer market but most importantly very smart purchases not necessarily all about money however in the current market Sessegnon Fulham are quoting 100M Kyle Walker went for 50M so we get the picture.

What a difference watching KWP & Rose as apposed to having to watch Davies & Tripps for most of the season

Like night v day. Great to watch and make such a huge difference to our attacking threat

Obviously KWP needs to learn how to mark people but other than that, lovely!

What we watched yesterday was a chaotic shambles but let’s be realistic. In terms of our most frequently played eleven, we had a completely new back four, midfield and front four, except for Kane, who’s still looking like an extra from Shaun of the dead.

That this team dug out a win, coming from 0-1, 1-3 and 4-4, once again dispels the “lack of mentality” bullsit.

Mentality is probably the aspect of this team I worry about least.

How people can doubt it is hard to fathom. This team is short of brains, composure, tactical nous at times, but it rarely lets us down for mentality.

We came from behind to beat Chelsea away for the first time in nearly three decades and effectively kill their CL hopes. Despite going through a bit of a funk we’ve overtaken everyone’s darlings to go into third.

Very good performances from the full backs; supper job done by Hugo and as usual Eriksen was consistently class. But for his influence in the spell when we went from 1-3 to 4-3 it has to be Lamela. He moved into the middle and with his energy allied to no little skill he changed the game. One of the weirdest matches I have ever been to but we won so all is good!

Even yesterday with Rose “at it” there was still a quality gap between what he did when he got into forward areas and what KWP did. (And that goes for Aurier too)

Poch is talking about Levy needing to be brave, but I wish he’d have been brave enough to show some faith in KWP, we might have a stronger squad and be 25m richer, plus KWP’s vastly increased value.

Agreed. I’ve not followed youth the way you have but I’ve seen enough of KWP in different circumstances to think the ‘risk’ of having him as one of two options at RB is definitely worth taken given the potential upside. His brain is clear, he has more pace than both Trippier and Aurier, and he is very comfortable on the ball. I’m now firmly in the ‘sell Aurier, have KWP and Trippier’ camp for next season.

Had to give it to Lamela considering my last post about him was how he couldn't score...

I’m fine with Kane “ looking like an extra from Shane of the dead “ when he scores 2 excellent goals like he did yesterday.

Finally got around to watching the match. Even knowing the final result, and that we would win the game, it was still a tough watch and pretty glad I missed the rollercoaster of emotion and constant back and forth between elation and despair that must have been the case watching it live.

Defensively, total end of season stuff - and dialled up to eleven at that. Both teams approached it with no intensity and so it was chaos. From our perspective there was no press, no compactness, we weren't positionally sound at all, and that's before we get to individuals errors. Oh, and set pieces, which we yet again defended horrifically. In fairness, both teams did score some clinical finishes (Mahrez, Iheanacho, Vardy's shot, even his header) or put together some slick moves that would have cut open more disciplined and switched on defences (Lamela's first goal for instance), but on the whole defences were letting the attacking players run riot.

For an end of season jamboree that we ended up winning, yeah you could go away with a bit of a chuckle about it and it will go down as a memorable last day in the record books. But another very unconvincing performance to go with the others that have ended the season... I fucking well hope we're more switched on and have that collective effort back once August comes around.

Lloris - Made a couple of smart saves and rushed out well on one occasion. Didn't have much chance with any of the goals.

KWP - Started the game playing very safe, maybe too safe, after that meaningful involvement for the goals you could just see his confidence lift several levels and he was motoring in the second half. Best thing me was his crossing - whether they were low or high they were accurate and into dangerous areas, and this has always been one of the weaker aspects of his game going forward so that's a good sign. Defensively a couple of minor errors but I thought he was pretty solid. Yeah the first goal, but I think that is more down to our sub-par zonal marking system that a lot of teams seem to exploit. It wasn't the only set piece we were in trouble at.

I'm not sure whether we should be glad that he finally got another opportunity, personally I think it's been a wasted season for him. He was ready in August for a proper chance. Hopefully next year it wont take until a RB injury crisis for Mr Bravery to give him a run.......

Alderweireld - Some impressive long range passes, some equally unimpressive defending.

Dier - Another of the defences union who'd gone on strike.

Rose - Looked much fitter and played with a bit of intensity. Got up and down the flank well, we've missed someone who can run in behind down the left flank.

Wanyama - Almost certainly wasn't playing at 100% fitness, but not exactly the most solid secure presence in the centre of the park. Has to be a bit smarter and adapt his game considering who his partner is in the centre of the park, which brings me to......

Sissoko - Another game in the cm2, and another, barring a couple of his power runs, pointless performance. No doubt some will scream 'scapegoat' and that people unreasonably pick on him, but I implore those who disagree to just watch what he does in a game. Positionally he is possibly the worst player I have ever seen - when we have the ball he just takes up nothing positions that don't aid the man in possession, when we don't have the ball he has no idea as to where to cover and look to plug gaps. That's all before we get to his technical quality (or lack of it). There must be better options than this.....

Eriksen - Ok.

Lamela - I saw some claims that his first half was shocking. I didn't see what was so bad about it? A little wasteful, but no more than anyone else, and also put in by far the biggest shift. Got in the box well second half to pick up his goals - needs to do this more often.

Moura - Worked reasonably hard. Offered nothing wide on the left, cut inside every time. Overall a bit hit and miss I thought watching this game back.

Kane - A little livelier, but still way off what we would consider his usual self. The goals he got were both helped by disappointing goalkeeping. His movement was a little better, but his touch not great and he wasted some opportunities through pure greed.

Subs:

Sanchez - Ok.
Alli - Quiet.
Son - n/a.

Lamela and Lucas played well as did KWP and Danny Rose. Erikssen didn't want to ruin his world cup, so stayed clear of any tackles but did ok. Hugo was fine and couldn't be faulted for the goals. Kane didn't jump for one header - I reckon his ankle is still giving him trouble. He was just backing into the defenders all the time, trying to draw fouls. He took his goals very well but looks far from fit.Dier looked like he'd been ill. Sissoko was his usual self, like a rabbit in headlights when he got the ball. Toby wasn't commanding (hardly surprising after little game time) Wanyama was Wankyama. Son and Dele were ok.
Sanchez showed how good he can be when he came on - tightened us up at the back.

Really exciting see-saw game to end the season.

Onwards and Upwards COYS!!!
