Great team effort IMO. Hugo MoTM.

Pleased with a point tbh, because a month or two ago we would have lost it. The team is really progressing I believe and with one or two good signings in January we could really have a good second half of the season.

And United's recent record against us is crap now, good to see that continue.

Yes I think if he doesn't improve past his current level he'll still be an ideal squad player but even though he's a bit older than a regular "youth player" I think he can still get much better. We'll need a classy midfielder like Modric though if we want to control games and get back to playing our favourite brand of football.

Should sign Cabaye or Moutinho I think. If either are possible.

Well he has two and a half years to establish himself and he hasn't done that. Dembele looked decent when he came on but he came on when United look tired and wasn't amazing either. I don't remember him ever making a forward run into the box for our best chance like <ason did. His dribbling is good and is stronger but i think Mason's tackling is just as good as Dembele and mason's passing is better than Dembele's plus I prefer a centre midfielder to be better at passing the ball than dribbling with it.

Dembele was virtually always the first choice CM in his first two years here. His issue was he had a nagging hip injury that would put him out for huge spells at a time. His influence was there for all to see his first season; we'd win far more games when he was playing. Last year he was constantly hurt and this season he has started against Sunderland (played great) and was part of a collectively bad game against West Brom and was dropped and not given a chance in the league besides a one-off 58 minutes against Hull.

Dembele is finally healthy and with Bentaleb leaving for ACN, there isn't a better option that him in the squad.

I guess it's the 'beauty' of being a fan that there can be such a diverse array of opinions on the performances today...I personally cannot see how anyone would Cliriches was anything but a liability today; Young absolutely schooled him (admittedly Townsend should've provided more cover, but Vlads failings were clear as crystal), and Ashley Young as a wing back shouldn't be schooling anyone.

Fazio continues to impressive...solid and no-nonsense. Davies surely has made LB his own.

Lloris is beautiful...I really hope he took note of his opposite number's kicking though - a lesson to be had there. Also, he was bizarrely static for RVP's guilt-edged chance, which was odd.

Still not sure what Chadli offers from the wing...he's slower than a glacier.

These are the type of games you need Eriksen to step up. He's very luxury but then again he's the one who will help us win a game through his quality. It just doesn't work having him in front of a CM, he doesn't get involved enough too often.

yep, yet another anonymous performance at #10 for mr eriksen, too easily stifled in that position. i'll even take soldado being on the pitch if it means we get him(eriksen) and kane back into their most influential positions.

5 - Tottenham are now unbeaten in five PL games vs Man Utd, only the third team (after Liverpool 00-02 & Blackburn 04-06) to do this. Graft.

Puts today's draw into context doesn't it.

First half we were definitrely second best, but the second half definitely ours, and the last 15 minutes or so, ManU were worried enough to bring on 3 substitute defenders (yes all 3 subs wre defendsers) to shore up the defence, whilst Spurs brought on attacking players to freshen things up. By the end we had about the same number of shots as Man U, so a draw is probably a fair result - although shame we didn't make our latter superiiority count.

Lloris - Showed what a top goalkeeper he is

Chirches - Maybe redeeming himself with another decent RB performance, better than at CB so far
Vertonghen - Solid performance
Fazio - As Jan, won all the aerial balls, threat at set pieces, what is not to like about this duo.
Davies - Good performance, seems to be drawing ahead of Rose atm

Mason - Great energy and tenacity, slightly erratic passing and shame his shooting is not as good as it was in the u18's (but maybe that will be worked on now he's proving his fitness) resulting in him misssing a great chance created by Kane. But for all that definitely a contender for outfield player MoTM.
Stambouli - Weak first half, much better in 2nd half, but still a way off being a certain starter. Maybe needs a run of games to get up to PL speed, now we know why he's being eased in slowly into PL

Townsend - Like most, a better second half. Worked hard, created a few things, got back to sdefend Chirches on many ocassions, and his persistance should have caused Young (arguably ManU's best attacking outlet) to get his second yellow card, but Ref seemed to miss the foul on Townsend
Eriksen - Good game, probably best pass completion on the field but Carrick was trying to nullify him
Chadli - OK, but as always needs to get into the game a bit more
Kane - Great energy as always, always a threat and set up a great chance for Mason. Continues to impress in his first full year in the first team squad

Subs :
Dembele - Added energy when he came on, arguably could have come on earlier for Chadli than he did
Lamela - Nothing really to say

That's pretty awesome, considering.

To anyone who gives Chiriches a higher rating than Davies:

Did you notice how Young was consistently causing problems on our right side whereas the threat from United on our left side was virtually non-existent apart from that one Mata chance?

i'm giving it to Townsend for doing a good job closing down Young.. Manures main threat over the last few games.. Hugo doesn;t need these MOTM. he gets a special award

second half everybody gets 8/10 ..good effort lads
I was sat in J block, row 18 and I was closer to Young in the first half than Townsend. But ill agree that he did ok today, better than his last performance and didnt give the ball away (if at all).

People calling for creativity, when I see us needing steel.

Mason is having to spend too much time breaking up play and not moving forward.

Stambouli isn't the DM we need to handle the midfield. Nabil can settle in a midfield three of

DM
Nabil
Mason

Mason's forward thinking is lost when he spends so much time in defense.

Fazio won 10/10 headers today.

Such a beast in the air, him and Verts has got real potential imo. Really promising performance overall.

He also headed it back to the oppositions on numerous occasions.

I am not sure how a hip injury prevents a player from seeing any pass that isn't five yards sideways.

I don't really remember his influence on a game except for dribbling past a couple of players (this is very good) but then playing a square ball allowing the opposition to regain its shape and we lose any advantage we had. He has a good shot but he never uses it and rarely does he play an incisive ball in the their third. He isn't particularly creative nor is he particularly good at defending.

I think that this 'hip injury' is a bit of a myth. Why is he healthy all of a sudden? It just seemed an easy excuse to point to when he isn't playing well. He has done ok this season but I still think Mason is a better option this season and, more importantly, so does Pochettino.

Because he was trying to make stuff happen. He could get 90%+ by playing sideways and square but almost every ball he played forward, with no time on the ball. The stats can be misleading, how anyone could watch that second half and not be impressed with Mason is beyond me

Good to see there's still a few people on this site that understand football.

That is going to be pretty tricky in a CM-2

Lloris - 7.5 - Excellent as usual, nearly MotM but not quite - distribution not bad today

Chiriches - 6.5 - As a RB, Vlad looks much more reliable because he's not under the kind of constant pressure that exposes his mental aberrations - he made some weird decisions today, but he also saved 2 goals with alert last-ditch defending and contributed constructive passes

Fazio - 7.5 - I become increasingly impressed with Fazio. He brings back to us what we lost when Dawson left: a big, robust defender who takes no shit and wins countless headers. He can pass a bit, he is capable positionally and he's not anywhere nearly as slow as people assume. Falcao wasn't permitted to bully him and Van Persie got no change from him either. My MotM.

Vertonghen - 6.5 - Good cultured play most of the time and good coordination with Davies & Fazio.

Davies - 7 - Dealt with Valencia and then Rafael without many alarms, excellent positionally.

Stambouli - 6 - Handled Rooney well, struggled a bit with Carrick's passing before half time. If it wasn't Carrick's passing, then it was Mata's movement. But he hung on in there and did his job OK in the second half.

Mason - 6 - Very hot and cold - a lot of his passes went astray, but in part that was because he was the one trying ambitious passes. When he was good, he was exciting; when he was bad, he put us in avoidable trouble. Much better in the second half.

Townsend - 6 - More defensive responsibility is creeping into Andros' game, month by month. He dealt with Young pretty well today and, despite the usual cases where he made the wrong decision, he got two hard shots on target and held the ball up well

Eriksen - 6 - Carrick kept him under strict control until half time, but the longer the match went on, the more Utd struggled to control him and the better we played. Worked well with Dembélé

Chadli - 5.5 - Not involved enough again - neither good nor bad

Kane - 7 - Didn't look out of place on a pitch containing Van Persie, Rooney and Falcao. The attack near the end, when he held up the ball against 4 Man Utd players before laying off a reverse pass for Mason, who shot over, was the best bit of play in the whole game.

Dembélé - 7 - I would have liked to see him 5-10 minutes earlier. He was exactly what we needed, as we started to exert pressure in the last 25 minutes: someone who could hang onto the ball in an advanced position, so his teammates could apply some sustained pressure to Utd's goal for the first time in the game

Lamela - 6 - Won the ball well, but didn't really get a chance to do anything exciting

The whispers about our fitness are getting louder. Yet again, the longer the game went on, the harder it became for the opposition to get the the ball first and the more we were able to dominate possession and territory.

I enjoyed the game, which was entertaining despite the absence of goals. The draw was the fair result and everyone around me seemed broadly satisfied with the performance.
