MoM - Eriksen, the man who makes us tick

player who made biggest influence on match - Dele, for goal and getting Jonjo sent off

I'm not sure how much it matters but KWP seems like a really nice lad with a good head on his shoulders. I am pretty sure that Poch spends a lot of the time on the mental as well as physical/technical aspects of players' development and hopefully that shows itself on the pitch.

I think the point I am labouring is that if Janssen has a game like that (missing sitters etc) it's "he's shit" but if Kane does it's "Kane having an off day". In terms of their all round game play there's really not much in it, and I reckon in this team if played every week Janssen would probably hit 20 goals a season. Kane will hit 25-29 though and that's why he's rightly first choice, but I think Janssen is an ok back up until we can afford to spend £50m and pay the sort of wages to convince another top quality striker to sit on our bench.

What possible basis is there for this statement? Even it it were true, it would be a complete guess.

This site is full at the moment of people just making stuff up off the tops of their heads and calling it an opinion.

I do enjoy your write ups BC, but honestly believe you'd not realise how good Alli is until he's gone. He's young and will get better.

Back to the match I thought it was a cagey, typical first match fare, against a wily manager and newly promoted team. I think we managed it well, and most players were at worse a 6 with special mention to Eriksen, KWP and Davies. The latter two making it a bit easier to forget about KW and Rose. Hope KWP does well this season he shows more intelligence than Walker, and put some decent balls in today.
Spot on!.
In the "what our opponents are saying about us" thread we as a team are being compared to a boa constrictor, but Alli on his own is like a Praying Mantis! :).
In that penalty box he is deadlier than the plague and we have seen that time and time again. He always seems to react first and his movement and anticipation is verging on the 6th sense!.
Still got a lot to add to his game, which he is perfectly capable of but he is not a £100m player for nothing.

Plus if things don't work out we can just move on to Kyle Walker-Paul.

I guess I am the only person who thought that Son made a real impact after coming on today and voted him for MOTM. I thought his movement was excellent and he made our attacks a lot less predictable. After he came on, there was more movement from Alli, Eriksen and Kane as well since he can play all their positions and allow rotation. Allowing Kane to drop deeper instead of playing of the shoulder of the Newcastle defenders. I think Kane is underrated as a playmaker. His link up play is often excellent!

I voted for KWP as he had a superb debut and fully deserves to stand tall tonight after a very grown up performance.

Happy with the performance overall despite it being a little flat and unimaginative at times.....they definitely wanted to stop us from playing by any means possible however we look like we have a few cobwebs to dust off and hopefully the occasion of next week should be a good catalyst for an early change in gear.

Thank God football is back.

Hmmm...Kind of why I said "I reckon"....

Again, hmmm...kind of how opinions work, no? Otherwise they are facts ?

I had forgotten that "I reckon" was code for "I have no idea what I'm talking about, so here's something I've made up"

Bit worried that the possible imminent signing of Sanchez (RCB) means Poch primarily sees Dier as a CM who can fill in at CB.

He is in my current Spurs 11 on merit. He does make things happen by being unpredictable

I'm pretty confident he is just replacing Wimmer, but will get more game time due to being trusted more.

As I've just said in the TA thread, it would make more sense if he was a LCB but he's a RCB.
I've seen him play LCB, not sure how often he plays there instead of RCB, but he has played there. From what I hear he is pretty good with his left foot too, so I don't see an issue.
