We need to get rid of the cobwebs and strengthen the squad if we are to make a go of it this season.

Pluses - KWP;s debut, Dembele Eriksen and the defence.

Okay - Ali (Only because of the goal), Son

Minuses - Kane (By his own standards) Dier

net - Wanyama Winks

My MOTM Kyle Walker - Peters for a good debut

who is Wright-Phillips?

Bakayoko, Cahill, Fabregas, Hazard at least. There might even be one or two more. Some talk that Luiz might have to play midfield against us unless they go with the young guy that was on the bench against Burnley (I cant remember his name).

Eriksen - 8 - Always looked to make something happen. Two assists and a a good start in the season
Dembele - 7 - Controlled the midfield most of the time. Love his strength on the ball.
Alderweireld, Vertonghen - 7 - solid
KWP - 7 - Good debut. Nothing really comes off in offense but he was always willing and trying to do sth.
Davies - 7 - Important 2-0 and other than that solid
Lloris - 7 - His kicking sometimes worse as ever other than that faultless
Dele - 7 - Well, until the 60th minute it was at best a 5. But scoring the opener (and provoking a red card) were the game changers. Typical Dele performance
Son - 7 - We looked better with him on the pitch instead of Sissoko, even without a big moment of magic. Should have had an assist though.
Kane - 6 - slow debut in the season. Normally chances like the one in extra time he scores in his sleep. But we all kow he struggles a bit in August.
Sissoko - 6 - Not really bad but didn't help to create anything of note.
Dier - 6 - Needs to imrpove his game. I'd prefer to see more of Winks instead of him.

Bit worried that the possible imminent signing of Sanchez (RCB) means Poch primarily sees Dier as a CM who can fill in at CB.

Nah, I think it's more just strong competition for the back 2/3. I could easily see Dier pushed out the team all together if he doesn't perform.

All a bit tedious. Very, very slow build up. Lack of invention apart from Christian. Easy win eventually.
Yawn fest otherwise.

Lloris..........7.......Stayed awake.
KWP............7.......Impressive debut.. MOM? I hink not, but could be sometime soon. Another notch for Poch.
Toby............7......Positive attitude shown.Not really tested.
Verts...........7......OK.
Davies........7......Two goals in two games. Clearly bored at full back. OK.
Dembele....8......Bordering on the imperious. Good to see
Dier.............6......Saving himself for bigger things.
Eriksen.......8+...Now there's the MOM. Inventive and calm. 2 Assists.
Sissoko.......5......Playing from the wrong dressing room today.
Dele............7......Great goal, Uncanny anticipation. Teased Shelvey off. Pretty ineffectual otherwise.
Kane............7......Unlucky not to score two. The August jinx looms.

One thing that mildly annoys me in that clip is that at the end, Dembele turns back when he received the ball, when there is really no need to, in fact the only player closing him down is behind him. He would be a level above if he could be less conservative with the ball in those situations.

That curly haired PlayStation fool is an accident waiting to happen in CM.Especially with dembele running circles round him.Red card expected.
Dier is in big trouble if/when Sanchez arrives.Games been off for months,no way he gets ahead of wanyama and will have 2 of best CB in world football ahead of him. Will be used as back up in lesser games, wouldn't be surprised to see him go in January especially in a World Cup year.
Dele isn't as good as he thinks he is yet.For me he's almost a 2nd striker as opposed to an AM.his goals definitely save him.But for them his place would be under serious threat if Barkley comes in.
Eriksen is in the form of his life and currently our best player by a mile.

Eriksen MOTM for me. I was watching the first 10 mins and he looked sharp and I said to myself "we are going to win today because he is playing well". That's how important he has become to us.

What a glorious stream of concioisness. I'm picturing you saying everything you can about the current Spurs team before someone tapes your mouth shut for the rest of the season.
