Lloris 7 - Could do nothing to prevent them from scoring. Did well to prevent Kenedy from scoring and came out to clear danger quite a few times well.

Aurier 6 - Great delivery for the second goal. Still committed needless fouls occasionally and offered his man too much space and seems to get caught out of position quite a few times.

Sanchez 6.5 - Got caught napping for their goal, otherwise pretty solid throughout the game. Could/should have scored from a corner.

Vertonghen 8 - Solid as always. Very good game and happy for him to finally score for us.

Davies 6 - Really frustratingr with his end product. Got himself into great positions, but did not make the most of them. Defensively okay, maybe could have done better to cut out the cross for their goal.

Dier 7 - Thought he did well with and without the ball. Certainly didn’t look like a player that’s only had a week of training. Good game.

Sissoko 5 - Lost count of how many times he lost possession. Had a chance to score which was well saved but other than that he didn’t really offer anything. Would rather give amos/skipp a chance.

Eriksen 6 - Decent overall. Would have liked to see him more involved In the game.

Alli 8.5 - MOTM. Makes such clever runs, always a threat going forward. He runs into space so well. When Toby is back Alli will benefit so much, he’ll find him so often with a diagonal ball as seen in the 2016/2017 season.

Lucas 5.5 - He just did not manage to get involved whatsoever. Maybe that’s due to how we were set up, not quite sure, but he ended up too central. His best quality is beating his man on the dribble out wide and he just couldn’t get into that position for one reason or another.

Kane 5 - Not at his best. Cannot remember him taking on a shot. Played a couple of sloppy balls which lost us a couple of chances. August is just not Harry’s month. Will undoubtedly be better with time.

Subs:

Dembele - Really pleased he’s still with us. Showed that he can still help the team. Beats his man effortlessly and is so, so strong.

Son - Very positive with his play when coming on. We are going to miss him for the next month. Hopefully he comes back from the Asian games as a champion, he deserves it.

Amos - Not enough time. I personally would rather give him a chance then play Sissoko. But I think Poch will stick with Sissoko.

If Trippier from the World Cup comes back in that form then we have to go with 3 at the back. His final ball can be so good and his set piece delivery is better than Eriksen’s . Not quite sure if the 3rd CB should be Toby or Dier but I guess Dier has to stay in DM until Wanyama gets back. It would help if he plays next to Winks rather than Sissoko. Hopefully Toby will stay committed . His performances against West Brom and Leicester last season did not look that good. Poch has to rebuild bridges there.
Hugely relieved that we still have Dembele and he played exactly the role I have been advocating. Generally starting on the bench and coming on when we need to shut down the game. Lamela too will make a difference. I would still go with him over Moura who may need to show what he can do coming from the bench and in the League Cup . Though with Son and Lamela out he maybe gets in by default.

Well either way both will have to build bridges .it doesn’t matter who makes the first move, especially as we don’t really know whether there is anything going on outside of no new contract being agreed.
