Why has that failed to work so often when Lennon's been playing then ?
I'm not saying it's the panacea to all ills, you can play badly even if the opposition is more spread out. Our home form has never been as bad as this since he first broke into the team - apart from Ramos - who also left him out. Buy a better winger, but lets get someone better who doesn't funnel into the middle like all the rest of the ones we have.

He did provide a threat from out wide. Jesus how the hell can you miss that BC?

I'm not claiming he's the messiah so I'm not sure why you're trying to twist what I'm saying. But his presence in the wider area helped changed the game against Hull, it was so obvious.

What you seem to miss is that others around him seem to fair better when he plays, mainly because he creates space a lot of the time.

What you seem to miss is that he really doesn't have that kind of impact and hasn't for much of his career.

I don't mind a decent winger coming in, but what we really need is full backs that can at least over lap.

Agree with much of that.

Of course it's not Lamela's primary purpose to win the ball back, but it's something he does which others don't and I like him for it and we are better as a team for it.

As you say, one of his primary purposes is to create goals, and so far this season he's created more than anyone else.
Which would suggest to me that he's worth keeping on the pitch when we need a goal. No ?
I applaud his industry and tenacity, BC, but it's what he's doing with the ball that's driving me to drink.

Two of his assists have come from corner kicks and two of them have also come against QPR. If he's playing badly, which I believe he was on Saturday, I can't quibble when he gets the hook. Not only do I believe he was bad on Saturday but I believe he has been bad of late.

Lennon has two assists this season with about one third of the playing time. I thought we were a shapeless mess on Saturday. My hope was that Lennon would help correct that. Obviously there are no guarantees with him.

The Chadli substitution did not work but the Paulinho substitution took the biscuit. Pochettino needs to have a look at himself.

If Lamela turns it around, we will be less painful to watch and I will be the happier for it. I will come on here and throw my fucking underpants at him. Does that make you feel better?

Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't one of Lennon's two assists the three yard tap sideways to Eriksen before he then hit a worldie from outside the box against Hull ?

Since when has Lennon ever been our salvation ?

I'd rather watch Lamela frustrate for the rest of the season on the off chance he may just end up being something decent, because I sure as shit know Lennon never will be and I'm much more interested in the the possibility of something that could be good than the certainty of something that isn't.

I'm pretty sure Lamela will not be the messiah either, but I'm sure he can be more use to us than Lennon.

Which is exactly my point, and why I want Lennon selected at the moment. We have zero threat from the overlap, we need someone keeping the width, at least til Jan.
But Lennon doesn't threaten that either, he spends to much time drifting infield and that\'s when he's involved.

I'd rather bring Pritchard back. He's got more about him than Lennon.

You keep trying to twist what everyone is saying. No one is claiming he's our salvation. What they're trying to point out to you is that we're more effective with him in the side at the moment.

Personally I'm looking forward to Walker being back and Davies fully establishing himself, once we have two comfortable fullbacks who are happy to show for the ball and offer width/support having inverted wingers will not be a bad option at all in my opinion.

Don't know why you bother? Like Dawson, Defoe and Redknapp, Lennon is the last of the scapegoats left and apparently all that is wrong with Spurs and our dinosaur ways.

Have no fear though, we are entering a brave new world of inverted wingers, a nice unbalanced team full of No. 10's all being shoehorned into the side and another nice "philosophy" to get us all excited.

Still, at least we "won the possession".

Such a ringing endorsement for our record signing!

Says it all.

Sorry to burst your bubble.
Lamela 16/21……. passes
Looks like your about 95 passes out.
Your a bit of a drama queen aren't you.
It is a strange one, we often hear how Lamela loses the ball with such regularity and it is the impression many get when watching him, but the statistics don't often back that up.

Like Chelsea ?

Our next best performance after Everton was Southampton. No Lennon. The QPR game you liked so much, no Lennon. Sunderland no Lennon.

You seem to be basing you're whole theory on one game. Ignoring the bulk of evidence.

I'm not twisting anything, just not agreeing with it.

Some posters just look for the negatives.
There not interested in the positives.
There agenda driven and make outlandish claims that are quite frankly BS.
Over the last few games he's been in poor form.
But to say he's been useless through the season is absolutely crap.
I know who these posters are because you get neg repped and no debate on what Lamela actually did in the game.
He was useless and that's it.
When you point to positive parts he played these posters vanish or neg rep.
He gave the ball away 100 times, really?
And get a winner rating, what game were they watching?
Do they actually realise he gave the ball less than some of his team mates?

He loses it less than Mason.
I don't think it's so much Lamela losing the ball when he attempts to pass it that frustrates. For me it's more his tendency to just constantly run into defenders and give it away that's the problem. Do the stats reflect that? I doubt it.

I can't reiterate the point enough that Lamela has to play in the middle or not at all imo.
