People won't like to hear this, but Mason and Bentaleb were poor in this game. Whether that's down to fatigue or they simply aren't as good as some people here project them to be (bit of both), they shouldn't be the first two names on the team sheet every week. Poch has got to either get the best out of Dembele/Stambouli/Capoue, or he needs to go out and convince Levy to spend huge money in January on a CM who can dictate play and create chances.
This needed to be said

To me it looked like he survived Bolasie, Zaha and Puncheon.....Palace were really abusing that mismatch they just never made us pay. Bit more quality from any of the wingers on that flank or on any of the corners that we gave up from that flank and the match outcome is a different story...
I agree but the point is Dier is not a RB and in the abence of any, deputised without conceding, despite doing it clumsily and ugly.

To be honest, this match was decided on Wednesday.

Away at Chelsea was always going to a tough ask - but we played starters who could have been rested for this game. Now I am not sure what is going on injury-wise, or otherwise, at the club - but it seems Harry, mason and Bentaleb in particular suffered the effects of 3 games in 6 days - when we should have played others in the mid-week game.

But Soldado is amazing when he's not scoring? If you get over your hatred for Ade for a minute, you'll realise that one of the two offers a goalscoring threat and the other doesn't.
This is not about hate or you're love for Ade it is about different opinions!

Dear god we are a bad side. Lost ever personal battle on the pitch. Hugo only one with the two c halfs who have any credit. Davies didn't do too bad either. Mason and bentaleb were terrible and were bossed, bentaleb struggles to pass it fwd and again didn't make a single tackle, mason just ran around a lot. And well Erik lamela jeeeez! This kid isn't gonna do it for us is he. Quite terrible today, show pony who lost the ball at least 8 times in one half of football. Worst player on the pitch by a country mile

Great; Lloris
Good; Fazio, Davies
Alright; Bentaleb, Mason, Eriksen, Verts
Poor; Dier, Chadli, Kane, Soldado, Paulhinho, Fans
Terrible; Lamela, Poch

Looked a tired team today, starting Lamela was a poor decision (I still think, perhaps naively, he will come good - for me, this is his first season here so he will still need time to acclimatise) as was leaving it so late to bring in Lennon.

When Walker is back, playing an inverted winger will make a lot more sense but Dier is, clearly, a CB being asked to play out wide and he was so scared of Bolasie that he never got forward. Lamela offered no protection. I got the Paulinho sub but, once again, he went missing.

Fans, again, started groaning at about 20 mins. Some turn up and expect us to win every game 5-0. Sometimes we need to grind out a win, especially with a new manager, but the fans want to see swashbuckling football from the off which, with 4 games in 10 days, is always going to be difficult. The team made it easy for the fans to groan but, still, disappointing.

That there were three 0-0s today says it all, lots of tired legs.

Bad day at the office .. tired and you have to say Poch should ahve rotated a little

At least we have anothr world class goalkeeping display. Fazio and Davies are getting better with each game

Sadly Soldado's touch in front of goal is still not there. Lamela struggles to have a real impact. Kane is not our saviour and was poor (we really cannot afford him and Soldado against organised teams .. Kane is tooo ponderous and Soldado doesn't score enough .. we need anotehr man in midfield)

Mason lknackerd, but gives 100%, Bentaleb was ok, but dreadful shot near the end when we needed to keep our heads. Chadli not quite back to his best. Eriksen in and out.

Poch should ahve been brave enough to replace Kane at half time and give us an extra creative force (or for you Kane lovers, take off Soldado). We just lacked control and creativity

Lets pray he rests folks on thursday otehrwise Xmas is going to be very long

Dier is unbelievably bad at RB. I know that a lot of you think he is poor there, but I can assure you he is worse than you think. He is neither here nor there all the time. He never gets close to his man. He doesn't have the pace to try to get near a winger more than 20 yds away from goal and he has the turning radius of an oil tanker. How many times do you see a winger approach the byline with Dier 10 yds away just letting him pick out his cross?

Going forward was worse than usual today. Tried to beat his man for some odd reason and his sizzling agility let him down shockingly. I'd give him about a 3. Bolasie is good but he made life easy.

Lloris was a top man out there. Thought the CBs were fairly good. Kane and Soldado were awful and I'm close to giving up on Lamela even thought I'm typically one of his biggest supporters.

He was was not IMO. I would agree if all he did was to give the ball away. But he did get himself into key positions, anticipated other player's movement and the only one who tried to press with any urgency. There were worse on the pitch, trust me. But being home grown and / or British they were always going to be overlooked for being rubbish today with Lamela as the scapegoat. The only two players who would came out with any credibility is Lloris and Fazio, and probably Davies.

Just got in from the theatre. Edward Scissorhands. Pretty good.

Anyway, I just saw the score. FML, I bet it's kicking off on the site today.

I take it Lamela was shite again?
i thought the Edward Scissorhands reference was for Hugo!!

Bollocks!. You just have an agenda against Soldado. I agree he did not have a good game but there were worse on field including Kane so why single him out?

The discussion was about our strikers...

Kane at least has a viable excuse of exhaustion. Soldado had a good rest midweek and should have been coming into this game fired up, hungry and with a point to prove. He wasn't the only one, all those 'fresh' players introduced today who have been in and out of the team (Chadli, Paulinho, even Lamela) and who should have been providing impetus to the team failed and let down the manager, but the efforts up top from Soldado were woeful.

Be honest if you were an opposition manager or player and you were lining up against mason and bentaleb in cmidfield would u be worried ? I would think spurs are here for the taking today. They are young and one day I'd like to see them run our midfield but nowhere near at the moment. Nowhere near

Lloris.........8+...MOM.If I wore a hat I'd take it off to you. Champagne is Fizzing
Dier............6-...Struggled against a good winger but stuck at it. Gently bubbling
Fazio..........8... Getting there. The berth next to Verts is there for the taking. Hot stuff.
Verts..........7+...Gets the other CH gig by default .Usual hammock and Gin and tonic performance
Davies.......7..... Now he's settled getting more potent.
Mason........6.....Needs a top up. Gone a bit stale.
Bentaleb.....6+..Young and will improve with age.
Eriksen.......7.....Classy, but not being kept in ideal conditions.
Lamela.......5.....Flat .Flat. Flat. Complain to the management.
Kane...........5.... Empty glass. Needs a refill.
Soldado......5.....Expensive vintage and not living up to its reputation. Corked?

Pochettino...5.....Not seeing straight. Been sampling too much. Tony Gale is not always wrong.

Fully agree, sire. We missed a massive chance to build on the momentum beating Everton, and the rather encouraging performance against Chelsea.

Lennon - NET

The fixture list was cruel to us, and unluckily we lost all the momentum we gained from the Everton match at Stamford Bridge. We defended excellently, as Palace could have comfortably scored 2 or 3. I don't for one second think Lamela is a bad player, but it is clear he is out of form. There are two things we can do, keep playing him and hope he eventually does something, or bench him and focus on the team. He is a fantastic prospect with unlimited potential, but we have come to a stand still on what to do with him. I vote to keep playing him, but then again that sadly could be blind faith.

Mason has gone off the boil a bit and is not moving the ball like his did before the Chelsea game, and again that is a stand still, do we risk continuing playing him or take him out for someone else. That is the problem with a young midfield, their form fluctuates, and our midfield is pretty young. I know this may sound harsh, but Soldado played as if he still hasn't scored a premier league goal again, I know it was one game, but this was the perfect moment for him to kick on.

How many times will Lloris save us points? But at least Fazio seems to be coming around. I thought Davies was very good too. Poch should have brought on Lennon sooner too. However lets not act like this is the most disspointing with played all season.

Oh yeah let's blame the fans again today. Having actually been there I thought the atmosphere was better, not great, but definitely better. there was definitely more encouragement given out today than the Stoke or Newcastle games.
