Can't believe the amount of Aurier hate I'm seeing. Thought when he came on, that side of the pitch became far more solid than the first 20/25 when Trippier was on. Put in 1 or 2 dangerous crosses and beat his man in attack regularly, made a really good challenge on van Aanholt to stop him from going clean through in the second half too.

Sissoko my MOTM, Foyth and Toby not far behind.

cant believe Dele isnt getting more love. He dropped deeper and performed his role perfectly. Not spectacular but really well for a guy who does other things better. I think sometimes people forget how excellent he is.

Perceptions are funny I thought that Wanyama has his best game for a long time, tailed off towards the end as he was tired, encouraging more than anything.

Very true on the perceptions. I thought he was second best a lof of the time, and gave the ball away quite a bit. Maybe the truth somewhere in the middle but to me he looks a shadow of himself.

Was very concerned with the line up going into the game, especially at CM and full back. Foyth I rate but obviously there was concern at how those pens affected him. Just hoped our attack would get us through. Turned out to be the opposite!

Foyth fantastic (so pleased for him, gonna be some player) but edged out by Sissoko as MOTM for me, by far his best game for us. Somehow played within his limitations but also showed improved confidence in his dribbling and passing. I'd still brick it if he started CM vs Chelsea but it was a brilliant performance, and was key to our win.

Palace are very awkward to play against with that rigid 2 banks of 4 so I can forgive the attack mostly for a disappointing game. Do like having Dele back though, definitely adds to our overall play.

Wanyama showed promise for 20 then progressively weakened, I assume fatigue. Do worry about him however.

I like Aurier, he may always worry people based on past mistakes but he is really good at nullifying a threat on his side, he's excellent on recovery. Much better defensively than Tripps IMO.

Davies had one of his best games of the season but to be fair he had no winger to face up against. Hope he can build confidence from here.

Hugo seems a bit erratic but once again made a big save to seal the points. Hopefully he'll steady up soon.

Bit of a slog which the conditions didn't help.
Hard watch after we scored.
They crowded us out effectively until the boy Juan popped up.
Over 60% possession but they had more shots on target. Thank you Hugo.
Won away from home with at least 5 regulars injured, recovering or rested.

Sissoko (8) continues to improve.
Foyth(8) MOM because he triumphed after a harrowing week.
Lloris (8) the good the bad and the very handsome. Crucial saves towards the end.
Toby (7+)Looks less relaxed lately but played well.
Dele (7) Comfortable in the deeper role.More dangerous further up but needs must.
Davies (7) Better today. Passed the ball more positively and more quickly.
Aurier (6) Wasted the ball on occasions but usually in the right place at the right time.
HK, Moura, Lamela, and Wanyama (5) Out of sorts or ineffective.

Well we've certainly become a very resilient side. It's hard not to be seriously impressed with our points haul given the amount of away games we've played, the injuries we've had and still not benefiting from a true home advantage and yet we're still level on points with the majestic Liverpool albeit having played a game more.

Do we really get the credit we deserve? Not for me. If we start to seriously get going, and others return to the fold we should be in for another top 3 finish.

Tonight was a scrappy game fought out in pretty atrocious conditions. Quality passages of football was at a premium, if Sissoko had scored that goal it would of been a wow moment, but we just about did enough and deserved it.

Personally I think we miss Dier's screening of the back four and our defensive shape is more vulnerable without him. We've definitely looked more exposed without him.

Sissoko was the MOTM. I've always defended him when bashed and it's great to see he's contributing when we badly need him to. Without him I think we would of dropped quite a few points recently. He's played a massive part when injuries have bit hard. Looks much more confident and I think he'll get better as well. We're lucky to have him, first class attitude and is going to be an invaluable squad member.

The front three looked off the boil. Kane needs a rest, looks absolutely busted.

Overall not much free flowing football to talk about but another job done although we looked so vulnerable in the closing stages.

Think we'll raise it a notch for the next two, just like we did against City.

Onwards and upwards - COYS

I think Aurier is by far the better option. Looked good today. I still feel however that neither of them are good enough and we should be actively looking for a new first choice RB (and LB) if we want to challenge for titles.

MS man of the match he was everywhere Midfield and came back to right back. He was everywhere best spurs performance? He did tire at the end, Forth was very good.

I did think Auier was poor, he is terrible going forward gave the ball away with sloppy passing a lot.

Been highly critical of Aurier (see my negative ratings :cautious:), but thought he was very good today. Used the ball well, looked dangerous going forward and did a job at the back.

Also think Hugo took a lot of flack. Very difficult conditions for a keeper out there but once again he probably saved us the points.

Motm Sissoko because he was so good. Glad Foyth make BT Sports eat their own words.

This was a huge game. Quite a few key players missing and away from home again. But we took the chance to close the gap on our rivals and put pressure on the teams who didn't play. Joint second highest points tally, and scored just one less than title-contenders Liverpool. A great start to the season without playing a single brilliant game and with important players missing or very rusty.

MOTM for me was Foyth, who made amends somewhat for a couple of naive moments last week. Sossoko contunues to improve and impress. Dele is solid in the deeper role. Toby is class.

Kudos to Toby, I thought he was everywhere today. He has played a lot of games recently and for a player who we thought was on a downward slope he has shown how important he is, I know he has been itching for a move and a bit of a mercanary but that said he has shown professionalism and quality on the pitch.

Foyth for a 20 year old is unreal, what a player we have here. I thought it impossible to replace Jan and Toby but him and Davinson could actually be a better pairing in the future.

Sissoko is improving game by game and today he had a good game, and more importantly no stupid panic passes.

Wanyama looked good in the first half but he is clearly lacking fitness and an edge that he once had. He is sadly not the destroyer he once was. Hopefully it's just more game time he needs.

Davies was excellent.

I thought are attacking play was turgid and lamela in particular had a bit of a stinker. To make this post even more unpopular I will say that I thought dele played well.

Poch must take some credit he has took this team and made them fighters. The whole squad are all putting it out there game upon game. He is the best manager in my time as a spurs fan.

Rotation, although enforced is working for us. For the first time ever I will look forward to the next game and not have a single doubt about the quality or commitment of a single player.

Hardly been a game this season where we have had a convincing performance and this definitely wasn't but we still have had an amazing start to the season.

Shows how the league is split into 2, but the challenge will be seen over our next 2 games. We need to get results against the "top 5" and so far we have 3 points out of 9. We need to take some points off chelscum and the arse.

Sissoko was really effective. Oddly his control and awareness were enhanced in the pissing rain but he was excellent and was evwrywhere.

Mauricio's gamble on Juan paid off handsomely
both in terms of winning the game
and bolstering the boy's confidence.
Although with the state of injuries
he may not have had much choice.
It seemed at first
that it might go horribly wrong.
Plaudits all round.

While Sissoko played well, and Wanyama was actually okay too albeit not sharp, Pochettino again approached a match v opposition who’d sit back without any really creativity. He picked attacking players, as attacking as ever because you can’t say that this midfield offers less than the Dembele / Dier axis, but to have neither Eriksen nor Winks in the side is so disappointing. That wasn’t keeping players fresh, that was Pochettino choosing brawn over brain and fight over finesse. If he really was interested in keeping players fresh, Llorente or Son would’ve played instead of Kane.

I thought Aurier's game was split down the middle. Before half time he was our best player for the 20 mins he was on, he was absolutely everywhere, but I thought he tailed off in the second half and Sissoko had to do a lot of work for him.

Thought Big Vic was decent myself. Calm and composed on the ball. Struggled towards the end, but give him a run of games and let’s see
