Lamela or Moura, in the thick of everything positive.

I going to say use of VAR and not VAR itself fail:

It was just used wrong, it is to intervene for clear errors which 1st goal clearly was not, as soon as it was observed after the goal scored the decision should have been made straight away for goal to stand instead of debating for minutes, if it was an obvious incorrect decision it would take seconds to correct. Regarding the penalty again not obvious, needed minutes to correct so again VAR shouldn't have interverned whether ref made correct decision or not so should have been free kick. If we get into the debate whether every ref decision is exacly correct we have the problem of a start stop match. VAR was way overused and had far too great an impact on this game effecting the flow and even effecting the decison making of the ref in a negative way. If not an obvious ref error bordering on ridiculous which you can tell immediately the refs initial decision should stand, VAR should be there to cut out the really crap decisions only.

A few thoughts on the players in yesterday's game.

Had a tough time deciding who would be my Man of the Match.

Llorente. Scored three so must be considered - but his over all contribution wasn't as great as others. But three goals...

Moura. He looks the real deal. Fast and incisive and knows how (and when) to pass. (I suppose we've finally got what the purchases of N'Koujie hoped to achieve).

Son. Full of enthusiasm and great driving runs.

Lamela. Involved all over the field. A committed and intelligent performance. Goal should have been allowed.

I gave my MoM honours to Lamela. He looks back to his best. Just wish he'd use his right foot a little more.

Others mentions:

Foyth. Really impressed with his runs out of defence - his yellow card tackle showed he's willing to impose himself physically on attackers. Reminds me a little of Alan Hansen of past Liverpool fame. Looking forward to see him develop.

Rose. Still has a way to go on his road back from injury.

Sissoko and Winks. The weakest part of our team. Sissoko needs to step up and impose himself on a game. Not impressed with his lack of tracking back - particularly in one part of the game when Rochdale was bearing down on our goal and he was (close by) but just strolling back. Winks. Still recovering from his injury I suppose. Need to improve on our centre midfield options for next season.

I’m pretty certain the other commentator ( don’t know his name) called KWP Dennis towards the end of the match
...and then mentioned how he'd seen him playing several times for the academy and how impressed with him he was.

Hundred quid he was in Leeds circa 2006 watching this academy team...

Is there a reason folks give neg reps to posts on this ratings thread, but don't actually explain why? I find that rather odd.

Whenever Harry Kane scores a Hat Trick, even if its against sides like Huddersfield or Apoel, you guys can't stop wanking shamelessly... but when Llorente does it, you still try very hard to find something to complain about his game?

I guess fans love a narrative as much as pundits, and when something happens that goes against it they have a hard time dealing with it.

Moura for me.

Rarely gave the ball away, had some real magical touches, worked hard and isn't afraid to go shoulder to shoulder.
I think we may have hit the jackpot with him.

Moura for me. I thought we bought a speedy winger type but clearly he likes to come central and create. Couple of lovely weighted passes last night highlighted that.

Well that was a crazy bag of spanners.

The VAR half will fo course get a lot of heat. But the bottom line is, Llorente probably did have a hold of their guy (who also had a hold of him, but two wrongs etc), and without VAR that never would have been given as a penalty, the ref would have given it as a free kick outside the box, and though I've seen players hesitate many, many times, I have actually never seen anyone completely stop, and keep stopping, and keep stopping some more, and then tap it in. You could argue the toss about both that went against us, if VAR was being totally accurate, did the encroachment occur before Son took his mid penalty vacation ? Who fucking knows. But I reckon, just as with any contentious decision, whoever's on the wrong end of it will always bleat the most, tonight it was us.

Poch's subs have always been a bit twighlight zone, but tonight's really went to another dimension of weird. Winks had had a very poor first half, but he's a kid with a handful of starts, he was showing signs of improvement second half, and once we were 4-1 up, surely to god you could keep him on, let him get those much needed minutes and build a bit of confidence, god knows we might need him at some point in the near future and it would be better to have him with a bit of confidence in tact rather than completely demoralised having been subbed off again in circumstances like this. Second time running Poch has hauled him off just as he was settling down. And to bring on the chronically injured Dembele in such a crazy game, at 4-1 up, just why ? Fucking madness ?

Then he takes Son off, rather than Lamela - who was on a yellow, and a slippery pitch - to bring on Alli ? Did that game really need Alli risked either ?

It was great to see KWP score his goal, you just know how much that meant to the kid, just a shame that instead of risking Dembele and Alli, Poch didn't see the benefit in maybe taking Trippier off, saving him, and giving KWP 30 minutes at RB.

Lamela was the usual bag of revels, some honeycomb, some chocolate button, but also some rock hard toffee and fucking raisons.

Son was son, couple of goals, a great assists and some fuckery pokery.

Moura was lively.

Llorente scored some goals.

Definitely agree with a lot of this. Seemed fucking odd to risk Dembele, especially as we were already well out of sight by that point - why not leave Winks on or bring KWP on for Trippier instead?

With so many important matches on the horizon this would have been the perfect opportunity to give so many of our first teamers a good rest rather than roll them out for 30 minutes in the snow at the end of a match that had already been won. Fucking odd.
