What games are you watching?

I mean ffs, Lamela was poor again and you are all giving him 8/10!

He seems to need so long on the ball to make his mind up, then before you know it the opposition has nicked the ball of him.

Poor again and needs to improve.

We may been watching the wrong game but what Fecking thread have you been reading?

I didn't think so, however much I appreciate him trying to make something happen it doesn't pay off anywhere near enough of the time.
He could have had 6 assists today, he can create them but he can't finish them.
And 2 goals

Was at the game and I thought he was very good. Yeh he got robbed twice I think but whenever he gets the ball he looks like making something happen. His vision and passing in tight areas is amazing. Could have had a few assists today.

Apart from that he works his socks off for the entire game.

For me he has been our most exciting player this season.

Ade - 5 - Much better than the last 2 weeks, but still wasnt close to good enough. Went missing alot, as per usual. Doesnt contribute anything to the build up. Doesnt link up well with the AM3.

Apart from being instrumental in our goal and the effort which hit the post. Are people forgetting this or refusing to accept it?

Thought Capoue was MOTM today, he simply dominated the midfield from start to finish.

also pleased with the effort put in by all the players today.

Was also at the game today and totally agree with this.

Think sometimes people only see the price tag that came with Lamela, rather than a reletive youngster still learning his trade.

Surprised to see so much positive ratings, was at the game, thought we were very average all round..Lloris not included.

Southampton pressed exceptionally well and gave us no time on the ball, not a huge improvement from the west brom game, better defensively, but not overly great. Didn't really create many clear cut chances.

Pluses... Eriksen and lamela's work rate, Lloris.

Very much a scraped through win in my opinion.

Happy with 3 points however.

Yep, just some of our shitter fans are desperate for him to fail so they don't look like utter tits when he proves them wrong.

Lloris did what he needed to do. Made one important save which you'd expdct him to and instilled confidence as ever.

Naughton was playing well, steady if unspectacular, and I hope his injury isn't too severe as he's on good form.

Kaboul was very good on the whole but was luck that his sliced clearance didn't cost us the win.

Vertonghen was imperious. Superb game from him against a good attack. Defensively he stopped everything and he brought the ball out well.

Rose played well again, tough in defence and got forward well. Exposed somewhat by Chadli not protecting him and sometimes tried too much but overall a very good game.

Capoue was very good, but he sometimes needs to be less casual with his passing in deep areas and he gave away a few silly free kicks in dangerous areas. Ran the game though.

Mason looked assured against a very good midfield. Always quick in his thought, always available for the pass and drove us forward well. One lovely switch to the left after feinting to shoot late on showed a confident ball player. I'm looking forward to how he plays after 20 starts, never mind two. Reminds me of Ramsay.

Lamela overdoes it on occasion, but some of his passing is sublime. Whether a through ball in the final third, or getting the ball deep and creating space to instigate an attack, he really looked the part today and could've had a lovely goal.

Eriksen scored a lovely goal and seemed to have upped the effort, especially second half, but a lot of what he's trying isn't coming off. Still, signs were better today and there were a few nice passes too. Worth persisting with.

Chadli did well to lay off Eriksen, has developed a lovely habit of making great runs into the area and was unlucky not to score, but I'd still like to see better off the ball. A guy his size should impose himself more and when Rose plays well but all their attacks come down our left, you have to question the protection from in front of him.

Adebayor worked hard and put in the most effort he has for a while, and it made the whole team look better as a result. Great play for our goal top. Needs to find himself in more scoring positions than he does but if he puts in this work every game then we'll be far better for it.

Dier came on and was solid as usual, and burst forward we a few times. Crosses as you'd expect a centre back to but played like a far more experienced player than he is.

Dembele came on to help us keep possession I imagine as we'd lost control of the game. Alas, he failed in this objective.

Kane came on but didn't have much time to have any impact.

All in all, we played an on form side brimming with confidence, with a system that they've been used to for a good while, and we deserved to win, probably by a greater margin than we did. With the context of who the opposition were, I'd say that's our best performance so far and there were signs both of the pressing and the interplay we need for the system to work. The centre forward giving a shit was a big part, as was having someone in the midfield two who constantly joined the attacks. I'm watching MoTD tonight.

The whole team put in a shift today, I think they wanted to show they are all behind Poch and his ideas. I like that a lot. Our team still seem to have that odd moment of doing stupid things or making the wrong decision that can undo all the good work they put in. Kaboul' lazy clearance, Ade's trying to play himself out in our own half, Lamela deciding to shift to his right foot when the ball was there to strike it... I hope poch can drill into them the decision making in certain situations. Overall an excellent win against an on form team. COYS!

Exactly this. Lamela might look sloppy sometimes but it's on because he looks to create chances everytime he is in sight of goal. I think he will certainly hit double figure assists this season and not many of our players have done that in recent seasons.

The thing I love about Lamela is he's trying. He's not hiding, he's not playing with fear, he's really trying. The fact that he's making mistakes is massively encouraging, because he's also creating to.

All part of the learning process. Would be much more concerned if he wasn't being noticed at all and was having next to no impact.

He's already made several assists and is really starting to catch the eye. A bit more patience and we're going to be richly rewarded IMO.

I'm struggling for a MoM as I thought they were all pretty average bar Adebayor who was hopeless again apart from his crucial role in the goal. His inability to hold up the ball is a real problem but to be fair the 3 behind him don't look anywhere near as inventive as we all want them to be.

The major plus today, aside from the result, was that we did press high up the pitch for large parts of the game.

I think the whole team did at least okay today, with a few standout performances. The most important thing though is that we really played well as a team today and were extremely well organised. The team as a whole get an 8/10 from me and I enjoyed the match so I'm happy!

Am I the only one who thought Chadli was great today? Assist, goalpost, and I felt he was Very calm when he was used as a target-man in the build up...

Oh, and I'm starting to see the good old Kaboul!

We played and worked as a team very wel, poch ethos slowly materialising, great to see. Roase n capoue excellent today, verts solid again great to see, kabs had a moment thankfully didnt cost us but in general very good today. Lemela was bright worked his nuts off he is getting better and gaining confidence, great to see. Eriksen better game today, great goal, need to see the eriksen of last season more, ade didnt have a sniff and wont with the way we play/formation but his effort was much much better. Lloris excellent when required. Mason im liking this guy, much more confident than bentaleb and works hard always free for a pass, pressed very well good quick passing, has a good football brain.
