Our goal was opportune, we hit the post, any others?

I pointedly said we looked sharper, but not sharp. We still lacked the final ball, but I felt we just looked ever so slightly more likely to find one yesterday. It looked close to clicking, for me, than it did last week.

7 - Eriksen, Rose, Lloris
6 - Capoue, Kaboul, Mason
5 - everyone else
4 - Adebayor, Chadli

Thing is, we aren't better than Southampton. We're about on a par.

Hitting the woodwork twice, Chadli through on goal twice (one of which was the best chance of the game), Vertonghen having a header cleared off the line?

The only chance they created was the Mane one from the Bertrand cross. The Mane chance which Lloris palmed wide was from a sliced Kaboul clearance, they didn't create it.

We were the better team, we should have won the game.

That doesn't take away from the Arsenal game, I was happy with that too. But from a cohesion point of view, Lamela found pockets of space to play dangerous balls into constantly this game, Chadli constantly made good runs and twice should've reaped the rewards, Eriksen was as involved as he's been and found himself in positions to hurt Southampton regularly and Adebayor moved and worked in a way that allowed us to threaten via various channels. Yes, Southampton had good spells but they're a good on form side. We play like that every game and we'll win most games and probably batter lesser teams.

I cant agree with that mate, I think it's a bit generous to give us the Vertonghen header and not give them the Naughton cock up, did they not hit the bar too in the first half? Sort of the frame of the goal?

Southampton are in a false position in the table, they've played us and Liverpool and QPR/Swansea/Newcastle/West Brom/West Ham, they aren't a great side, we certainly shouldn't be happy with how we held our own against them. Just think there's a few creatives going on.

They had the better chances?
That's laughable to say the least.

I wonder how many of you that disagree we're not actually at the game? Match of the day is not an accurate view of the game. For those who creamed over the highlights let me explain to you that we were frickin lucky to win this game. Southampton generally out passed us, out pressed us and on the whole we're the better team, had more possession and had better transitions of play. Ade barely had a touch of the ball as it just kept bouncing off him. The 2 moments on motd is literally all he did.

What did Harry Kane do, who you say had a better game?

Adebayor fumbling after being put through by Lamela ? Our goal wasn't opportune it came after a good move and passes.

What were the better chances they created. I can only remember the one at the end.

So a chance that's not really a chance but counts as a chance?

Did Lloris not make a save from one of the midfielders? And the one that Naughton air-kicked then blocked on the rebound?

Excuse me, pressing spam then vanishing with an explanation?
I think that's exactly what you did.
Then have the cheek to call me out because you don't like it.
Double standards sunshine.

have another look at your post and consider what substance it actually brought to the debate. Spamming it requires no supporting evidence at all in my view. Whereas you've now confirmed you spammed me in retaliation, which is a bit childish. Posts should be rated on content, not on anything else. Sunshine.

Im with Spurs Bear on this.

We are quick to count chances that didnt materialise into a shot on goal but discount the opponents.

I'm not qualified to comment on the game overall as I was away .So just the MOTD

However , I expect the result has coloured some comments as it often does . Luck doesn't get a fair shake generally imo and it looked like it was on the toss of a coin who won this match . Incredible miss at the end .

But if you feel the need to spam and vanish that's your perogative.
But don't bitch about when someone does it back.

Lloris - 7
Naughton - 7 - Saved Ade's bacon with a great block early on and the made another good block. Too bad he got hurt.
Kaboul - 6.5 - Please, Kaboul, for the love of God, will you work on your clearences?
Vertonghen - 8 - MOM
Rose - 6.5
Capoue - 7
Mason - 7
Lamela - 6.5
Eriksen - 7
Chadli - 6
Ade - 5 - Much better than the last 2 weeks, but still wasnt close to good enough. Went missing alot, as per usual. Doesnt contribute anything to the build up. Doesnt link up well with the AM3.

Dier - 7 - played well. No complaints but we really need pace at RB. Hope its nothing serious with Naughton.

Dembele & Kane - NET

You mean other than our goal and best chance?

The chances "they" created were actually created by our mistakes; The Naughton air kick which had come from 3 mistakes starting With Ade then Capoue then Naughton. The shot from Wanyama, that was from a Kaboul wild hack that Mason was perfectly positioned to clear.

We created the chance for Ade that he fluffed and others mentioned, unfortunately we created most of their best chances too.

So we can't count a chance created because it wasn't finished but you can count a shot from their guy from the edge of the box after Kaboul slices a clearance as a chance created ? If you can't count the chances created because the striker fucked them up then they created nothing at all because Mané fucked up his.

So even by your own narrow criteria we won the chances.

If, like @Blake Griffin you want to ignore everything that happens everywhere else on the pitch and just judge a game solely by chances created - and taken - in each box, then why bother buying a ticket to go watch a game ? You can see everything you think important on MOTD.

I'm generally a pretty negative bastard about most things Spurs related, but I think we watched a different game!

If I recall correctly, it was an attempted cross as oppose to a shot on goal but I could be wrong
