Won't rate all players but just a few points and observations. Thought Rose was man of the match, mainly for his attacking threat and making use of the space he had. Swansea played very narrow, if you look at their heat map they had no width at all until Montero came on.

Speaking of him, he gave Walker the run around. He's a pretty tricky customer though tbf. Walker more annoys me when he does dumb things like waits and waits for the ball to come to him, has all the time in the world then for reasons only known to his brain decides to play a hospital pass across the pitch.

Thought Dier and particularly Mason was excellent. Hugo was also solid on crosses and saved us at the end, was pissed off and rightly so.

Probably Kane's worst game of recent, needs to stop the pot shots and play with his head up more.

Goal aside I thought Townsend was poor, was no surprise to me that he actually did something while on the left side of the pitch. Think Poch needs to realise that not all wingers operate well inverted. Play Townsend on the left or leave him on the bench.

Some folk decided immediately that Danny Rose was shite. Consequently, when they watch him, they ignore any good play from him as an unconnected verbiage of individual okays - they don;t actually see a good game in among all of this. But they watch with eagle eyes for any error, and then jump up and down wildly, pulling out their hair wailing and gnashing their teeth (at the same time...WOW!) and declaring to anyone and everyone in ear-shot, no matter how they try to cringe away from them, that they said he was shite the first time they saw him, and why the fahook does Pochetino still insist on playing him! :)

But it's alright. There is a counter-weight. All those who remember his debut goal against the Goons and refuse to believe he can do anything wrong, sticking their fingers in their ears and their heads in the ground (wouldn't one suffice?) and chanting nah nah nah nah when anyone preaches the heresy that he has made an error :)

i was in agreement until the 2nd bit, i don't think there's anyone on here like that?

I didn't see any of this game other than some highlights but it sounds like we were pretty good when attacking and very open again defensively.

I'm glad Mason got his goal. I would still like to see him playing further forwards, with a more defensive player alongside Bentaleb, but if Poch doesn't fancy Stambouli then I suspect those two will have to play together for the rest of the season which will lead to a lot of open games.

Also good to see Chadli getting some positive ratings. Really hope he can get back into goalscoring form as he carries considerably more of a goal threat than Lamela.

I voted Eriksen (as a Dane I'm a bit biased), but on second thought I would actually change it to Rose if I could.

The thing is, that without Eriksen, there is absolutely no coherency on the team, just as we lack bite in our attack without Kane. As much as I like Ben Davies (and Swansea for that matter), we struggle to keep our width and create chances without Rose, and to be fair he was the better player of the three on the night.

An honorable mention to our young midfielders as well, as they are really starting to show stability. Last year Rose was given much criticism for being caught out of position, but the fact is that he really shines when going forward and as such, he should do so at every possible occasion. The difference from last year is, that our midfield is much more aware of defensive duties, and are now much better at covering for other players. It also helps, that Rose has become more of a team player and no longer tries to take over where Bale left.

Great game by Sigurdsson btw. Though I would have preferred to still see him in the Spurs jersey, it warmth my heart to see him play so well.

Both goals conceded, again, came from down the flanks. Ki just drifted in from the the RB position and Vertonghen was totally sleeping again.

As for Sig's goal, another cross into the box...with Montero crossing from the RB position.

Like I was saying yesterday, I don't think its about us being open...its individual poor decision making and mistakes from our defenders.

Poch picking the same team that lost the final was a materstroke in man-management imo....the message i think he was sending was he was proud of the team that lost and didn't want to single out any player who he would have dropped, he also hoped the same 11 would want to get that defeat out of their system.....and it worked as i thought for large parts of the game lastnite, it was the best we have played, i thought we zipped it about the way we should and made plenty of decent chances.
The game was seemingly won when Dembele came on, but for me we looked so slick when he came on .and he just gelled it all together and Swansea could't get near us....but i get why he didn't start for the reasons above.
Soldado has not been a success, we all know, but he really has no luck, he could have got a couple lastnite and i thought done ok when he came on.

The scoreline didn't do our performance justice...4-1 would have been about right, and but for Hugo they nearly somehow nicked a point.

Ratings...

Mom...Between Rose & Mason....went for Rose, he has improved so much and gave us everything down the left.
Very good....Rose,Mason,Bentaleb
Good..Eriksen,Chadli,Dier,Hugo
Ok ....Walker,Verts,Townsend,Kane

Poch ....10/10 for sticking with the same team, and his subs were spot on at the right times

I think playing Chadli and Townsend for the cup final cost us dearly, so I don't agree with the logic of "rewarding them" with another go. Townsend is mentally lazy and careless and rewarding that is reinforcing it, and that isn't good management. I remember Ferguson dropping his keeper for a cup final replay.

I didn't think his subs were inspiring either. Chadli was doing OK so why move him to a less effective position on the right and I have no idea what subbing Rose was all about - if he was injured then fine but if not why swap left backs, Davies went to sleep for their third goal.

Great to see Chadli start scoring again, it's good timing for the run in, if he hits form.

The shock of Rose delivering a cross to his team mate, caused Gomis to faint, I almost did myself. Fair credit to Rose, he was good today, my MOTM.

We were good to watch at times today.

I don't think Vertonghen was sleeping, it seemed to me it was Walker who was marking Ki and he just then lets him run off him. It looked stupid what Vertonghen did but the ball just bounced over his foot, not sure it was "sleeping" just a bit of a "waaa" moment.

Walker just doesn't get close enough to Montero I don't think, same as he didn't get close enough to Costa.

Rose, Lloris - 8.5

Dier, Bentaleb, Eriksen, Chadli - 7.5

Mason, Walker - 7

Verts, Kane - 6.5

Townsend - 6

No one played particularly poorly except Townsend in the 1st half. But Rose and Lloris were excellent

Yeah that's what I was trying to say...hence the RB area. Vertonghen could of been a bit more alert in terms of sniffing out the danger IMO, but I agree the fault came from Walker.

I don't see it that we're too open like some are saying, I think poor decisions in defensive situations, primarily from our defenders, are costing us. Too blame a lack of protection from midfield isn't addressing the real issue - for me at least, when you look at the nature of the goals we're conceding.

I think we can look a bit more open when Townsend plays, but its not the pairing of Mason and Bentaleb per se.

Gave it to Lloris for the save which effectively got us 2 extra points.

Have you ever played football,?

Sometimes you do things to keep the dressing room tight....Davies got a runout because it was against his boyhood side and we were coasting 3-1 with not much time left....don't give me all the Davies fell asleep for their goal cos on the flip side Davies put in a peach of a ball for Soldado to make it 4-1....Davies was rightly sub, but can't you see the human side as to why he brought him on?...thats why i asked if you have ever played, when i played against my old clubs i was burning to play.

As for your Fergie comparison, if you know the facts it was a totally different scenario, for starters it was a game he had to win or get sacked, it was a game a trophy was riding on, it was a game where he dropped his keeper who hadn't cost him the cup as they went on to win it didn't they, you really are sad going way back to 1990 just to prove a point...
For the record, i agree Townsend & Chadli shouldn't have played sunday....but like Fergie used to do, he would play the same team that lost a big game to get a reaction.

I Watched a full match replay and I thought it was a good team performance, my mate went to the game and said it was hard to pick the MOM but he went for Danny, I think Eriksen actually for the first time looked like he can dictate the tempo ala Modric for so I think he was my MOM but I love me some Danny Rose so I voted for him

I'm struggling a bit with why so many people are trying to tear this game to pieces when in reality Swansea could just as easily have lost 5-0 as they could got it back to 3-2. At times we played some lovely football but individual mistakes cost us the goals and maybe a bit of tiredness too.

Soldado was hugely unlucky not to score. Chadli stuck a 2nd in the net when Kane was wrongly flagged offside. Their 1st goal was very avoidable. Walker didn't track his man but how Jan doesn't clear that ball for a corner is baffling. The second goal is one of those things. Davies could certainly be tighter but a rapid Montero came on and gave a likely tired Walker a bit of a roasting down that left flank. 4-1 would've been a more fair result imo.

I thought Chadli was excellent. Tidy in possession and a stunning finish. The control is ridiculous. If Messi or Ronaldo score that goal it would've probably broken Twitter. Eriksen, Bentaleb, Mason, Dier, Rose all played very well indeed. Kane was quiet but worked hard.

Townsend is still a bit of a pain. He's such an asset on the break but his use of the ball in general play is not good enough and he continues to make bad decisions at times. There is clear potential but at times I'm left thinking he's a limited player that won't improve. For now I think we should look to keep him for another season, much like Lamela, and then make a call next summer.

Injured I think, saw him on bench with boots off and ice? not sure, couldve been tactical

You don't think he wanted to let Davies have abit of time against the team he was with since he was a kid, and after missing out on the final?

Um, not really. Davies will have plenty of time to play vs Swansea in future
