One of the more one sided MOTM votes this season for me, Eriksen was sublime.

It’s saddening to see how obstinate some can be regarding Sissoko. I made the observation last week that he seems to be growing in confidence, and today he kept that up. It’s interes to note that the team seem to have a great deal of trust in him, as they were passing to him a great deal as the game progressed. Tells a tale that far more than the bile filled rhetoric we read on here all too regularly. I love seeing players turn things around, Lamela did it, now Sissoko is doing the same.
On Lamela, he had a great game today, finding pockets of space everywhere and exploiting them mercilessly. Tenacity, class and a lovely curled and confident finish with his right foot. Who knew?

I’ve seen multiple pundits saying that Swansea were shocking in the aftermath, without a single one recognising that we relentlessly hassled them throughout the 90 minutes. It was evident that the players knew they had a decent break coming up, so left it out on the pitch. We were pressing them in extra time at 3-0 up FFS!

Lastly on Moura. I’m really liking what I’m seeing here. Danny Mills actually made a very good observation that he’s not up to speed yet with the English game, so many things he’s doing well that are just not quite there yet. I’m tipping him to be our standout player next season with a Poch preseason under his belt. I’m very excited to see him tear this league apart, as I’m obviously convinced he will do.

Good viewing today with some really lovely Football played throughout. Looking forward to MOTD.

I think Sissoko had a good game and made a real difference in his 10 minute cameo last week. He however has more bad games than good ones unfortunately.

Thought everyone was a 7 or above especially the front four. Their ability to one touch and move was amazing.

My one critique is Dier who if given a touch and then falls under pressure, he doesn’t know what to do with the ball and panics. Numerous times Abraham rushed his back and Dier just lost composure.

Sanchez also got beasted by Abraham when the ball was in the air, which is something he needs to work on moving forward.

But the recent signs are good no?

Don’t get me wrong, Sissoko has been majorly underwhelming since we got him, but I can see definite signs of progression both in his self confidence and his overall influence on games.

Nothing pleases me more than seeing a Spurs player improve, so it irks me when our so called “supporters” take every opportunity to dig him out after a mistake, ignoring everything good that he’s done either prior to or following said mistake.

The same occurred with Lamela. Prior to his injury there were “fans,” who had made their mind up about him, who ignored the plethora of positives to focus on the few negatives. Even now he still gets it, despite showing just what a quality part of the team he is.

Unfortunately we have people who would rather hate on a player than support him, their own need to say “I told you so” far outweighing any desire to see any and every Spurs player be a success on the pitch. There are few teams that can match us in that regard and it’s sickening really.

I would love to see Sissoko getting regular MOTM votes here, not because I’m in any way a fan boy, but simply because I’m a Spurs fan and he wears the shirt.

Good game, everyone played well. We completely outpassed Swansea, tiki-taka style. Lots of small intricate passing and good pressing to win the ball back.

Eriksen MotM. He ran the show, lots of touches and passes. Lucas a bit hot and cold, but you can see that there is something there. Just needs a preseason with the team. Sissoko was good, he just needs to keep it simple. Also i thought it was Lamelas best game this season. What a goal with his right and he combined good with Eriksen and the rest of the team. Also loved when the mic picked up Eriksen yelling “oi coco” :joyful: cute nickname (y)

Thought the Harry Kane team played very well today.

Even without Kane, I wouldn't bet on us not to score in games.

Just thinking now, that providing we keep all our players in the summer, I'm struggling to think of where we could improve the squad. Maybe a Sessegnon would do the trick with potentially Rose's departure, but other than that, dunno. We're well covered on the right with Serge, Trips and KWP.

We do have a lot of attacking talent in the team and some good creativity with Kane, Alli, Son, Lamela, Eriksen, Moura, Llorente etc.

I feel Sissoko is becoming a really useful squad member, too. I've slated him in the past, but mainly out of jest. I don't think he's as bad as the narrative everyone spins, and he played well today. Also made some good, searching, longer-range passes that found their man. Showed good athleticism, too.

I think Son is decent as a backup striker/9. Has a lot more composure these days, and we know he can scream in half chances from nowhere.

I really like the look of the front four we played today. Lamela, Eriksen, Son and Moura is a nice fluid attack, with decent pace, creativity and finishing all round. I actually think Alli struggles to displace any of them in time. Especially when Moura has found some form and is given a run of games. They all work hard too.

Strange bringing Alli on today, but I found myself agreeing with the bullshit monger in that if you were cynical it could have been seen as an opportunity to aggravate an "injury" to protect him from the England friendlies.

Particularly enjoy Lamela's close control. Very good with the ball at his feet. Quite unpredictable.

Eriksen class as usual.

Vorm made some excellent saves.

Defence looked largely solid. Thought Sanchez played well. Considering his age, he's a real coup. I think when Toby leaves (realistically) we have slightly less to be concerned about than we thought. I think he still needs a bit of positional coaching, but Poch seems to do his stuff with defenders in general.

Really solid team here. Difficult nowadays to pinpoint obvious areas of improvement like you can with other PL teams.

Dier and Sissoko quite vital players imo. Allow us to change things tactically. I think Poch has managed to assemble a really well balanced squad with a lot of options. That's obviously showing on the pitch nowadays.

On the whole, real good performance from the team. Some good football and a lot of effort and work shown by all involved. In particular I remember one point where Davies was pressing their keeper. Moura tracked back well and he managed to retain possession of balls that looked like had gotten away from him.

Very decent.

Basically the perfect game for us. Quarter finals of the cup and daring to go further, away from home against a team that has had am upturn in form, the weather forecast looks dodgy, it's an early kick-off... You just want us to show our superiority enough to get the win. What we got was the most comfortable 90 mins you will wish to see.

I've seen a few comments from Carvahal saying the FA Cup just isn't a priority compared to League survival, and this attitude really in all honesty seemed to run through the Swansea team. They had a bit of bluster in the opening 10 mins of each half, if Vorm doesn't make that excellent double save and it gets back to 2-1 then maybe things might have been different, but for the vast vast majority of the game they offered little resistance. A half hearted effort in behind the ball, little effort with the closing down or individual duels, affording us time and space in front of their defence that just shouldn't have been there, and any belief they did have was killed by the early-ish goal. We did string together some decent passages of play, and were easy on the eye, but this was such a stroll in the park and we didn't really get out of second gear. It was a professional display though to the teams credit, we just kept the ball and basically played out a walkover victory.

Individually not much point in doing ratings. Eriksen probably reigned supreme over all of them, for the rest it was basically a training session.

Eriksen (MOTM) and Lamela were top class, shout out to Sissoko for suprisingly being very good. Apart from that 4* for everyone else. Only negative was some of Dier's dodgy passing. Still, excellent performance.

I've got to assume that you are pissed Madam as Dier's "dodgy passing" was nearly 100% pass completion from around100 passes... he slightly over clubbed one to Trips late in the 2nd half that TBH i'd have said was more on K.T than Eric but that's just my eyes.

It was 100% at half time, just checked 93% at full time (128 passes) 137 touches, he gets a lot of shit does Dier and granted he's not Iniesta but he's a good player doesn't deserve half the shit he gets IMHO

Sorry i'm not having a pop it's just i swear some Spurs fans eyes are painted on a lot of the time. :bag:

Vorm made a great double save the one time he was truly tested, come out to save at feet well once as well, good day.

Trippier and Davies were so rarely tested defensively that I feel they could’ve committed more going forward. They didn’t, so it’s hard to say more than they didn’t mess up at all.

Sanchez and Vertonghen played well but faced little pressure, distribution was fine.

Dier played well, solid enough defensively and supported the attack effectively too.

Sissoko gave a good box to box performance, breaking forward well, dropping into defence well, passing simply but with purpose and never hiding.

Eriksen was given an inch so he took a mile. Absolutely ran the show, reminiscent of prime Iniesta with his skill, invention and range of passing.

Moura got an assist, choosing the best option in the situation even if not the flashiest. He helped the defence well and showed some moments of flair, skill and pace. Trying a little too hard and lacks a touch of rhythm just yet,

Lamela took responsibility constantly, dropped well into midfield when needs be, kept Swansea’s defence guessing all game, shows a lot of skill and scored a great goal.

Son had a goal wrongly chalked off, tried to run the channels on occasion but was largely uninvolved. I don’t expect Kane, but should go looking for the ball a bit more when on the periphery.

Llorente, Dele joined a game already won and stayed in second gear.

I agree with you everythung you say and im one if those guilty ones with Lamela....but there are other issues at play there as others go to stupid extremes on his performance.

Back to Sissoko yes ive seen signs of improvement and he is much better centrally than out wide. I baffled by his poor ball control but i know more than anything he gives his all. At some point though we need to upgrade on him.

Vorm...........7+.......Lloris by any other name. Fine double save at crucial moment.
Trippier.......7.........Solid if unspectacular.
Sanchez.....7..........Sound with a touch of looseness here nd there.
Verts...........7+........Mr. Dependable.
Davies........7..........Not bad, not terribly good but not bad.
Sissoko......7+.........Refreshing upturn in performance. Available and some strong runs
Dier............7...........Good overall.Twice nearly on the scoresheet.
Moura........7...........Prefer him on the right. Getting into the Spurs groove more with each appearance.
Eriksen.......9..........Master craftsman reaching peak form.at the right time.2 fine goals
Lamela........8..........Lively confident and skilful.Nice goal.
Son.............7..........Shame about the disallowed goal. Decent run out.

Surprising number of changes by Poch but it didn't really matter as Swansea were very poor.
except for a few minutes at the start of each half. Faith in Sissoko paying off.
-1 for everybody because opposition failed to turn up,

LOL, you don't need commentary to tell the difference between Vorm and Hugo surely?

I thought Aurier and Rose played really well today but I’d have to give my MOTM to Toby

I'm not pissed I'm afraid, and I only said some, not all, and i never said he was worse then the rest. I was trying to make a point about how good we were but I guess that missed the target here.....

As an aside, I rate Dier highly but his passing is not his strong point, this wouldn't be an issue but he does often try the Hollywood. His vision is not as good as he thinks it is but I am certainly not a hater. regardless of what I think in general, I think you might have missed what I was saying.

Just out of interest, what were the plethora of positives that people have been ignoring to focus on the negatives with Sissoko? I'm afraid your comparison of Sissoko and Lamela is totally bogus. Lamela in his early time with us showed some eraticness but also some above average qualities and skill set, great technique, some trickery, some vision, ability to play incisive passes and tenacity too. Throughout his time he has produced assists and chances for others.

All Sissoko has shown is a mind numbing lack of technique, a lack of anything you could call exceptional, an uncomfortableness on the ball that hampers the team, and huge limitations of vision or skill set.

Sissoko was fine today, no more. But he was playing against the worst, most passive opposition performance against us that we've seen for about 3 years. We could have played a 16yo kid and they'd have looked fine.

Anyone using this as a mark of Sissoko's quality or supposed upturn in quality is a deluded buffoon. Anyone who thinks he was even close to MOTM today, or that he's anything other than a woefully inadequate footballer at this level, deserves to watch Sissoko every week.
