The fact that Fazio has improved so much since August gives me a lot of confidence in him. He looked like a shambling mess when he first came in, and usually a player takes a season to get to grips with the PL (if they ever do). He struggles when isolated against the better strikers, which in fairness most defenders do, but is building a very promising partnership with Vertonghen. Can we upgrade on him in the future? Most definitely, but at the moment I'm more than happy for him to be first choice with Vertonghen going into next season. Neither he nor Vertonghen takes takes control when push comes to shove, like Terry would between him and Cahill - that will need to be ironed out but will come in time.I think Fazio does have redeeming qualities, he does read the game pretty well, is a bit quicker than he looks and does frequently defend situations well.
I just really like what Dier brings. I think he's got learning to do, but I see big potential in the kid and right now, would rather grow that potential.
