Gazz -6 no mistakes like Lloris but none of his genius either. Rather meek when it comes to commanding the penalty area. Like young brad friedel... Safe

Foyth MOTM 9- I'd like to seem him play against lesser teams in prem now, pair him up with Toby Wan occasionally before he leaves

Sanchez 8- usual quality from one still so young also

KWP 6- out muscled and paced in first half, got to grips better in 2nd
Aurier 6- hard to rate as West Ham didn't really bother trying to attack down his side

Wanyama -5 lacking massive fitness
Winks -7 good

Son -8 classic son, could've easily scored 4
Alli - 7 typical Dele to get among the assists
Erisken 8 controlled West Ham at will

Llorente 7 good goal, good hols up play

Sissoko deluxe - 7 continuing to look a player

a game that gave some players some minutes after the injuries. Foythtank (hope you like that @thinktank) my MotM looked pretty solid.

been wanting KWP to get minutes, and going forwards looked better than defensive. not strong enough when 1 on 1, and too bloody short which means he shouldn't be the back marker on a set piece. Poch needs to put someone on the post, and if KWP is going to play, perhaps he will need to be the front poster.

Gazzaniga apart from not getting to one cross did his job well

KWP too bullied and over powered

Foyth did little wrong, came away with the ball well, and passed it well too

Sanchez won plenty of headers, just wished he had a bit more power in them

Aurier did a good job, but that youngster of theirs looks a prospect and definitely gave him a game

Wanyama looked very rusty, and pretty clumsy, most of the chances they had was down to loose play from him

Winks had a good game, but needs to release the ball instead of over playing and losing the ball

Eriksen kept it tidy

Alli heavily involved in the 2 Son goals, but more importantly like Eriksen got some valuable minutes

Son took his goals well, and ran his heart out

Llorente won a few challenges, loose on lay offs but got a very important goal.

subs
GKN thought he did well in his minutes
Sissoko didn't do anything wrong which is always a bonus
Skipp wasn't on long enough

Went Sanchez MOM because of how he backed up after City and was just a rock all night.

Foyth made some outstanding tackles and looks wonderful on the ball.

Great to see Son back in the goals.

KWP has everything except strength in core and upper body.

Winks very very solid.

When Dele, Son and Eriksen are clicking so is Tottenham. We forget just how good we are with those guys running the show.

Yep. Classic case of someone showing they've got technical ability so fans start to shove him further up the pitch automatically. /QUOTE]

finally, the new Gary Doherty... Keep pushing him further up... We won't regret it

Eagle - Foyth
Birdie - Son, Sanchez, Winks, Dele
Par - Eriksen, Llorente, Gazzaniga, Aurier
Bogey - KWP
Double bogey - Wanyama

Won't rate the subs, but Nkoudou didn't do much and Sissoko and Skipp both looked good.

Some might think I'm too harsh on KWP and Wanyama but this is just how I saw it today. KWP was bullied by Antonio, both outpaced and outmuscled, and was positionally all wrong for their goal. It is the first time he hasn't impressed when I've seen him play so hopeful that this was a one off. Wanyama was slow, made the wrong choices with the ball, was tackled a few times in dangerous areas and wasn't good off the ball either. A complete passenger, unfortunately.

A word on Gazza, while not the technically greatest goalkeeper he is good on the line and a lucky sod to boot, his couple of flaps a game tend to go unpunished. A lucky goalie is worth his weight in gold.

Foyth was outstanding and I hope we see more of him and Sanchez together in the future. Them two, KWP on the right plus Winks and Skipp in midfield gives me a really good feeling about the long term future.

A bit harsh considering that Antonia has bullied seasoned full backs in EPL including Trippier just under two weeks ago

As I said in the match thread, It was never comfortable, they probably had the best 'moments' in and around goal throughout, but neither were we ever hanging on and we scrambled well when required. Managed to play at a fairly low tempo, rotate the squad, give some youngsters minutes, and book our place in the next round. Not bad all in all.

Gazzaniga - Made a couple of good stops. A few errant longer kicks but I like that he is calm, composed, and technically sound with his short passing game. However he hesitated badly again two or three times coming off his line and he was fortunate not to be punished for it. His luck continues to hold.

Foyth - Yeah there were some errors at times, but he's a kid with very little senior football it's to be expected. Was the clear motm. Must have made about four crucial bits of defending, and was really good with the ball. Very encouraging display, well done kid.

Sanchez - A bit ropey early on, but settled down and was a solid presence. Kudos to him for playing twice in 48 hours.

KWP - Ups and downs. Yes Antonio physically mismatched him a few times, but in the second half he pretty much figured that out, didn't get too tight and contained him back to goal. Positionally gets caught ahead of the play a bit too much which causes problems on counter attacks, but that's been said of all our full backs at some point. Also allowed his man to peel off him for the goal. So there were some negatives, but his defending was mostly solid and he looked very comfortable with the ball at his feet. Good test for him tonight, and he didn't wilt at any point. Now he just needs games more than once every 6 months.......

Aurier - Was no more assured than KWP. Yes he was out of position but defensively it took about 25 mins for him to win a tackle/a one on one duel down his flank. Was fairly solid second half but still a number of moments where they got in behind him. If you're marking down one fullback, the other has to be as well.

Wanyama - Improved as the game went on, but is really struggling to get about the pitch like he used to.

Winks - One of our brighter players in the first half, however he then spent a large spell of the game doing very little after he picked up that knock. Improved again towards the end.

Eriksen - Solid.

Alli - Would have liked to have seen him move the ball quicker tbh, and not come so deep. The one time he did release it first time we got a goal.

Son - This was typical Son for a lot of the game. Stumbled around the pitch pretty meekly before his first goal, continued it up until the second goal, and then at point seemed to find a bit more belief and verve to his game and finished strongly.

Llorente - I thought he did ok. Did his job as a focal point and scored a pretty good finish.

Subs:
Nkoudou - Did ok.
Sissoko - Ditto.
Skipp - First step along the way.

Forth was immense. So good to seeing him have a game.
Gazzaniga has to be our number two keeper already. Looking better and better.
Wonderful to see the smile back on the face of Son as he gets back to his scoring ways.

Easy to see why KWP doesn’t get a start he looked out of his depth. Can’t say Aurier was very impressive either. Wanyama is a long way off his best and maybe won’t get back to that.

Good win though against a bogey team and sets us up well for our next couple of games

It's not like Antonio is a world beater, he isn't a regular in their first XI and has only started 4 our of 10 league games, none of the last 4. He is both strong and quick but he isn't uncontainable and you can't be making excuses for a full back who's up against him.

I know Trippier struggled against him the 20 mins he played against us but that doesn't excuse KWP, it is a very poor look for Trippier too.

Yep. Classic case of someone showing they've got technical ability so fans start to shove him further up the pitch automatically. There is a world of difference between having the game in front of you and being in the thick of midfield having to play 360 degrees and on the turn constantly.

Having players who can bring the ball out of defence are as crucial as any other position for our style of play. Leave him be at CB (as should have happened with Dier......) and lets hope he keeps developing, as he clearly has a lot of talent there to work with.

I think the logic is that we are much stronger in CB than DM at the moment rather than saying that should be his long term position which I agree should be CB.

Haven't seen the full highlights so unfair to rate players on that basis.

Watched the compilation video of all of Foyth's touches and he looked superb. I don't think he played a bad ball all night. Not difficult to see why he got called up for Argentina, I think we need to start playing him in the Prem and giving him some decent experience, or even the CL if it gets to the stage we've got nothing to play for.

Two really good finishes by Son.

One excellent finish from Llorente.

Foyth MOTM.

West Ham a bogey team?...really! I think your assessment of KWP and Aurier is a bit bogey.

KWP will learn a lot from the battering he took from Antonio. There’s not many physical specimens like him in terms of strength and pace, and dealing with someone like that is all about experience and nous.

If Trippier played against Antonio it would have been a nightmare. Antonio is an athletic strong player, he would give problems to many full backs. What I liked was KWP actually dealt with the situation better second half.

People just trying their best to justify their reasoning for KWP not to get picked in the first team and literally trying to find anything to knock him, yes he struggled against Antonio initially but dealt with him better as the match wore on.

I don't believe I have an agenda here (as my post has been quoted a few times), I have said I would rather KWP get a run in the side over Trippier if we continue with a back four, I just thought he had a dodgy game last night. That is all.
