OK found the other thread. Not all of it is in there as I posted some of it in ITK thread which I think is now liquidised. Here is the link to some of his previous posts:

http://www.spurscommunity.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=26249&highlight=Devonian

There is some reference to us being up for sale, but even then there was contradictory stuff which I questioned on COYS (which I can't do any more).

Maybe the guy is relaying stuff as honestly as he sees (heard) it. Who knows.
Thing is any PLC is potentially "up for sale" especially one in this sector. So that's not exactly rocket science. And I said as much to him in january.

I still query the stuff about partnerships, what the brief is/was and how much that would influence a decision, especially if, as he says, we were up for sale from mid 2007 ? Surely Comolli wouldn't have made it past last summers window if this was the case.

Didn't he say that he personally knew Levy? And was there not some ITK a few months ago that said Levy had had enough and was selling?

Villa are quite a bit different from how we are now and unfortunately I suspect where we are going too .

- Levy is in football for what he can take out .
- Lerner is in it for what he can put in .

- Tottenham shirts are sponsorred by an online gambling syndicate .
- Villa shirts promote a charity .

Aston Villa aren't the only admirable club in the Prem , look at Boro .

You think Chelsea fans are any happier than Boro's or Villa's ?

Edit : It would make a difference because Levy's decisions are influenced by his desire to sell and short-term .

eg they never had any intention of undertaking a project like increasing the size of the stadium . It would have been beyond the capabilities of flyboys like them anyway .

The fact that we have been massive spenders over the past 3 years suggests otherwise, how much has Lerner given MON to spend? do you think Lerner doesn't expect to make a profit?

I honestly don't think Levy's & Lerner's aspirations are miles apart really, although Lerner isn't backing his manager as well.

There's been selling ITK for ever hasn't there. Personally I can't believe that if Levy/ENIC had wanted to sell they couldn'thave done it before now if they really wanted. I can't think of a single more attractive proposition in world football than us over the last couple of years. The fact that we are not top4 probably makes us even more so. We are the best run club financially out there I should think. No massive debt (a la ManU, Arse) profitable despite never kicking a CL ball, London location, probably the best history and tradition outside Liverpool, ManU and Arse etc etc.

Maybe I'm wrong and we have been for sale and had no takers but I'd be surprised. My hunch is that levy is a massive spurs fan and I think there is a chance that Lewis has said as long as he can make it viable he can run with it a while. They both realised that the EPL is theonly cash cow in football which is why the others were offloaded as even CL footie didn't make them particularly viable. Maybe the recent downturn and Lewis's hit has changed the stance slightly (aren't we worth almost exactly what he lost ?) Maybe our performance and the thought of having to wait at least yet another year for CL is another factor, along with the credit squeeze effecting the possibility of building a new stand (attracting investment, borrowing etc).

I could understand how all the above circumstances would be changing the stance of both Lewis and Levy.
It would be fascinating to know the truth of the whole scenario.

Correct me if i'm wrong but isn't Daniel Levy a Spurs fan? And if he was only interested in what he can get out of Spurs, then why would he spend so much money in the transfer window? Surely he would just pocket the money from the sale of Carrick, Keane and Berbatov and keep spending less than what we spent on Rebrov several years back. I mean, why would he break the record transfer fee at the club on Darren Bent for example.

Buying big name players will increase the value of the club, like Modric for example. I do feel something is just around the corner with a sellout, I can feel it in the air.

Randy Lerner has said that if MON wanted to spend £30million on a player then he would get it. It's just the fact that MON is a bloody good manager and is more focused on building a young British side by buying players like Milner, rather than spending £30mill on a superstar like Robinho.

Lerner became a Villa supporter when he was a postgrad student at Cambridge in the early 80s. That sets him apart from the other billionaires who've bought English clubs (and home-grown tossers like Ashley).

That would have been when the were winnng the European cup then although I won't use the term glory fan but it doesn't make him a lifelong fan.
Does anybody really think Levy is involved with Spurs just for what he can get out of it like some blood sucking parasite? I despare if they do.

And so would Ramos but which player is worth £30m that would go to Villa or Spurs at the moment? bit of an empty gesture really and he didn't say he'd pay £150k per week wages did he?

I don't actaually have a problem with Lerner but I see the comarison between him as good and Levy as bad as just faintly rediculous.

Does it matter if he's kept up his interest ever since? It's a sight more admirable than jumping on the default United bandwagon. I doubt that his interest is totally philanthropic, but he clearly gives a shit, which is about a million times more than can be said than most of the billionaires buying into EPL.

But I'd totally agree that anyone who thinks Levy has no interest in Spurs beyond lining his own pockets has to have a lot of space between their ears. There is a lot I don't like about the guy, starting with his aversion to taking responsibility for fuck-ups, but he is a genuine fan. I don't know if she still does it, but once upon a time Mrs L used to sit with the hoi-polloi rather than in the directors' box.

Seriously guys how many top players would be playing for United,Liverpool,Arsenal,Chelsea if they were not in the top 4 and not paying them big wages?
Very few,if any of those teams were in the same situation as Spurs - they would find it very difficult to get top players and impossible to keep them when the big boys come calling!
That is reality for us and we must accept it - So lets stop knocking Levy,Comolli,Ramos,Poyet, the players and support our team, through thick and thin!

It's a sorry old state of affairs, and one that has been coming for a good while now. Unfortunatley it hasn't been stopped and so the continuing influx of foreign billionaires into the premier league will continue for a while.

Ultimatley as a club we can't step up until we increase our wage structure massively and until we can afford to buy the top players in the world.

It's not what i want for the club in an ideal world, but we don't live in an ideal world and the reality is we could disapear as a club easier than we could break into the top 4 right now.

If we are to sell the club (technically we sold the club many years ago anyway) then i'd want it to be to someone who makes the top 30 richest people in the world. With the way the Sultan of Brunei throws money around at silly things, i think we could sell to a far worse person.

So, my opinion is, we do need to push on financially, we need to fund a new stadium and we need to raise our wages, for this we need a very rich owner who isn't so worried about pulling a profit. So if it is the Sultan or another person/company with a net worth of $10b+ then i'm for it.

Umm Joe Lewis is a billionaire - i think we're a bit late on this one.......

In fact, and if someone who knows more about this than me can correct if i'm wrong, weren't we the first premier league club to sell out to a billionaire???

In which case we'd be to blame for starting this whole 'problem'.
