Over the course of the season, is Defoe more likely to miss or score more of those? I'm being serious, which will he do more of?

Yes it was class, but imo he will miss more than score, so I would prefer him to make the run and slip in someone else to score, as over the course of a season that will lead to us scoring more and winning more games.
I think as long as he keeps getting in the right places, goals will follow. I don't mind so much about the misses (today, that is!)...

goal at the end left A slight bitter taste in my mouth, i know it really shouldnt. That was another great away performance, just like newcastle except the ball went in instead of hitting the post and crossbar.

controlled, inventive!! balanced. Vertonghen is a real gem, Sandro, gallas and defoe was class. Fair play Jermaine Falco it is:eek:

A great performance away from home... we definately have the right players for this system in Bale and Lennon and it seems to work for Defoe who is immense at the moment. Have to say though that aside from the two new midfielders the stand out for me is Verts - what a footballer we have there and surely he is going to be the best centre back in the league this season?

Good performance, good win.

That's the first time we've played AVB's own 4-3-3 formation, rather than having to make do with the makeshift 4-2-3-1, and the difference was immense.

Dembele was fantastic, Sigurdsson's pass for the first goal was perfect and he was good in general, Defoe was as annoying as usual, but again, as usual, he was clinical when given the chances. Defence was solid, especially from set-pieces which is encouraging. Vertonghen looks like a class act.

We've conceded a goal after the 80th minute in all 4 games so far. If games finished after 80 minutes, we'd have played 4, won 3, drawn 1, scored 6, conceded 1. What a difference! But it's all hypothetical and 5 points will have to do!

Unbeaten in 3 games, great start to the season

I think this is also a cracking time to bring up those Spurs fans who complained when we sold Gunter then immediately signed Walker and Naughton, saying it was a downgrade considering the money spent.

LOL.

Sorry I am unable to give you an adequate answer as I don't know the ratio of games Defoe won vs the games Defoe lost us and equally I don't know the ratio of games Defoe would have won us or the games Defoe wouldn't have won had he made decision x, y or z.

Good win, but this habit of conceding pressure late on is extremely worrying. That's a late goal conceded in every game so far this season. Thank fuck we went into the final few minutes with more than a one goal lead this time.
I don't know because I didn't see the game, but were we pressing at high tempo? There's a chance that the players aren't quite fit enough yet and thus switch off through tiredness at the end of games.

Great build up play throughout the game, and despite the late goal that we let in the defense i thought played quite well.

"Impressive display from AVB's side - powerful and fluid in midfield."

Impressive indeed Phil, now for your fellow journo's to follow suit in giving praise when it's due

Ahhhhhh... It is all good :)

But I think the man of the day is AVB.

He has had crap from fans and the media, but he stuck to his guns and he will get us there. So happy for him (y)
