We managed the game really well as it went on. RM were tiring out, their crowd was restless and muted. I couldn't even believe the Bernabeu could be so quiet!

I never expect to feel this, but when it was 85th minutes, I was hoping we can have another 10 minutes more. Similarly when only 3 minutes of stoppage time were given, I was quite disappointed too. There was no nervousness that we might concede and lose. There was more feeling of us grabbing the winner and becoming victorious.

Yeah there was the point that Dier dropped fully into the back line and I was shitting bricks about gifting them the midfield (especially with Modric pulling the strings) but they didn't do anything with it in those minutes. Then poof all of sudden it looked like we were running the game. It was almost as if our whole team realised we were fitter them and could run the match from here on in.

Who did I ridicule? Saying that one player is better or you prefer one over another is not ridiculing its just stating your preference. You have Trippier as first choice and who to say that you arent correct?

There will be games where I think Trippier would be a better fit and vice versa. Playing against Marcelo isn't one of them. So take all the issue you want, that wont make Trippier be appreciated any better or worse

Is this not a bulletspur quote?
Trippier didn't play and thank fuck for that.

Damn, so wish I got to watch this but super proud of the performance. Great to see us do this with all the injuries still, great to see Sissoko put in such a performance, great to see Winks put in a mature display (loved his use of the body to shield off Benzema for the goal), great to see Lloris put in such a performance, great to see Rose return and just great to see such an organised and professional display against one of Europe's best.

Also thinking we’ve done this without Wanyama and Dembele who were our rock last season, Davies who’s been great, Dele Alli, Lamela, Son (who was only on for a few minutes) and Rose not starting is pretty damn immense. To not have any of those players starting and coming away with a point and such a display against the European champions is crazy.

The game showed just how exciting our squad is in terms of tactical flexibility and further showcased how the team and probably Poch and his assistents have evolved tactically since the 14/15 season.

Back then, we seemed to play the same way no matter the opponent, but as the seasons have passed, we've added so many new strings to our bow. A hypthetical lineup for the weekend could be something like:

Lloris; Alderweireld, Sanchez, Vertonghen; Aurier, Winks, Dier, Davies; Eriksen, Alli; Kane

With subs:
Vorm, Trippier, Rose, Sissoko, Dembele, Llorente, Son

And Gazzaniga, Foyth, KWP not making the squad and Lamela, Wanyama and Nkoudou still injured. Our options are bloody good.

This is a good point, when he started here Poch had a way of playing and people started to say we couldn't change it, in fact they assumed we never would, but now it ireally does seem like that was phase one and we are adding as we go.
Makes you realise that we didn't really get that when Poch spoke of a five year project he really meant it and probably had it all planned out step by step, I suspect the only change to that is that he has been able to bring some steps forward, he has actually said we are ahead of schedule I believe.

Some praise from Darren Lewis of The Mirror. He seems to get it, although could just be trying to wind up other teams' fans.

Jealous Arsenal fans may say otherwise but Spurs have shown they belong in the Champions League
Tottenham’s towering performance at Real Madrid was a milestone for Mauricio Pochettino’s young side

Very pro-Spurs article, but I think Darren Lewis is a Spurs fan?

Enjoyable read but ridiculous error at the end....

"Last time Spurs were in the Champions League, during the 2010/11 season, they reached the quarter-finals."

Really, Darren?:cautious:

Honestly I had to read that three times before I understood what you were getting at. Last season's campaign really just was that forgettable!

Not to mention he could''t resist slipping in the 'They still have to address the concerns around the financial futures of Kane, Alli and their other top stars.'

No concern here, Darren.

Thank you for that :) I actually had it recoreded on BT Sport so watched a bit of it. Keep rewinding a few minutes before our goal and just letting it roll through. So good seeing us take the lead at Madrid and I actually loved our celebration. It wasn't over the top, it was more of a message saying 'good going with getting the goal but the jobs not yet done'.
