There’s a great deal of panic amongst the Tottenham fan base over the fact that Spurs haven’t offered Toby Alderweireld a new contract as of yet.

If he was going to go-he would have gone by now
He is wanted, and wants to stay

And here i thot it was levy trying to save money.

Anyway.... I don't really think it will make much of a difference.... We can't offer the kind of wages he could get elsewhere. We just gotta keep our men happy.

Just speculation in my view and not based on any fact as such. He seems happy, plays well and is totally committed. Levy will sort out a new contract when the timing is right. No doubt Man U and Man C have a plant in place to start these rumours in the hope it will unsettle him. Not worked so far.

According to Transfermarkt (not sure about the reliability) He is contracted to us until June 2020. That will effectively make him 33 when his contract runs out. No need for a new one then

Panic? He's got years left on his deal.

Less than two years. The third year option comes with a 25m release clause apparently which someone would bid immediately I suspect. It’s unusual for such a key player to have so little to run at Spurs, and I wonder if his age is a factor.

If you're happy in your job and your boss calls you in and says "you've been fantastic here the last few years, we want to reward that with a really favourable pay rise and bonus package"

You ain't gonna say "I'm really happy here and made up you think so highly of me, but I'm happy earning the same as far less important and well regarded colleagues" are you?

There's a reason he hasn't signed improved terms and it's not because he's above the nonsense money footballers earn.

He's worth more than he's reportedly getting. Let's be the club to make the offer, best central defender we've had since Ledley, irreplaceable too. Not smart to play the cheapskate and lose him.
