I certainly can't think of anybody who deserves the honour more than Sir Steve.

WHo else is in the runing?

Daley, Tani, Kelly Holmes, or maybe an injured soldier from Afghanistan?

I'd rather see Daley Thompson, I can't stand Redgrave. I wish some had taken him up on his offer to shoot him if he went near a boat again.

Same here. Hope it's Daley just to piss off Redgrave. I can't understand how Redgrave doesn't think Thompson is one of the top 5 British Olympians of all time.

Would be Daley for me.

AFAIAC the Olympics is Athletics, all the other sports can suck it.

And Thompson won the multi-event gold, Redgrave rowed around a bit, and he didn't even need to get anywhere, lording it over everyone with his boat, he may as well have played the lonely Island "i'm on a boat" song whilst rowing along...

Reading bits of a book by Redgrave recently and he thinks exactly the opposite :)

Basically saying Thompon was only a decathlete because he wasn't good enough to do any event individually and he wouldn't consider him as one of the greats.

That's fine if he doesn't consider Decathlon a valid discipline, still he's a (admittedly dedicated) rower, which is so far below Decathlon as an Olympic event its not even funny.
