Harry Redknapp has told Soccernet he would love to extend his stay at Tottenham but denied reports he has been offered a contract extension.

Redknapp, who took over at White Hart Lane in October 2008, has just one year left on his current deal, and there were reports in the Sunday papers that he has been offered a new contract.

However, ahead of Wednesday night's potentially vital trip to Manchester City in the race for fourth place, Redknapp has revealed he has yet to open talks with the club.

"Yeah, for sure I would love to stay on at Spurs," he told Soccernet. "I love it here. I love the club and I want to stay.

"I have one more year left and nothing has been said about a new deal. I just keep cracking on but nothing has been said about a new contract.

"It surprised me when I read those stories about my new deal, but it has never been discussed. I was so surprised to see it. I phoned Phil Smith at First Artist, who represents me, to find out what was going on, but it didn't come from him, and no one knows where it came from.

"All I can tell you is that I have one year left on my current contract, and I have not discussed a new contract with our chairman Daniel Levy. I have just been concentrating on my football and getting Spurs into the top four."

Suggesting he might make a shock switch to Real Madrid if Spurs fail to tie him to a new deal, he joked: "No, I've had no contact from Real Madrid - they are far too far away for my liking!"

Should Spurs beat City at Eastlands, they will be certain of fourth place and a chance to play in the lucrative Champions League group stages.

It would be a remarkable achievement given that the club had been languishing in the relegation zone when Juande Ramos left the club and, although Fulham boss Roy Hodgson is perhaps the leading contender for the Manager of the Year award, Redknapp could be in contention if they beat City.

"Manager of the Year! Well, that would be nice, just to be considered," he said. "Roy, though, has done a great job and he deserves it, for sure he does. It's a nice achievement to go that far in the Europa League

"But we have come a long way in a short space of time, you're right to point that out, and it has been a tremendous season with what we have done so far in the Premier League, but we need to go that one step further. Fifth would be fine, but fourth would be special.

"We've done a good job getting into this position. Along with [assistants] Joe Jordan and Kevin Bond, we've all worked very hard to be where we are, and it would be a really lovely reward for all that hard work if we made it into fourth place, and we shall give a real go."

I love arry, top man, no BS jusat ses it how it is. Master stroke to get him Levy, just makes sure you tie him up for another 4 years as I really can see this squad challenging for the title next season if we make 1 or 2 additions and we don't sell anyone.

He's be the ideal man to get Liverpool back up and running, not that they could have him but he has the best track record in the tranfer market and gets performances from his players...

    I think that is a little over-optimistic.

Let's try and get 4th tonight and then next season it is about qualifying for the CL proper and securing entry to it again at the end of that season.

Our Home record is excellent, but our away record is not that of a Title winning side.

IF we continue to progress, then maybe we might come into contention down the road, but with Chelsea and City's spending power and Man UTD's ability to pull results out of the hat, we are not going to be challenging as soon as next season realistically.

I hera what your saying but Chelsea are ageing and Man U key players are also ageing and I don't think they now have the clout for a massive overhaul. Someon'e got to break the mould, lets hope its us.
