I am not even thinking about relegation with this team we have, but I am very worried about how Jol is doing with the composure of the team and his tactics/substitutions.

That is the main reason for our position. We have played some bad games this season, and did a lot of personal errors. The reason for most of those errors is the tactics. Jol is always talks about expressions like: "Defend well", Protect a lead, Kill off the game. To kill off a game, you can't thinking about protecting a lead, but you have to play your own game, and play attacking football. All leading clubs do not protect a lead, but still attacks to get the 2-0 goal. We do not. We are thinking about protecting the lead, and we give the opponents the chance to build up attacks after attacks, and they are scoring goals towards the end of matches. Same story all the time, and this is Jol's fault. It is obvious. I cannot understand that he continues with the same pattern.....?

Jol has brought this whole situation on us and himself, primarily by not dropping Robbo, ages ago. He's let the total lack of our goalkeeper's form and lack of confidence permeate throughout our defense, totally destabilizing it (not to mention costing us vital points); it then runs through our midfield who become more anxious about protecting our back four and then hits our strikers who become demoralized, because how ever many they score, they know we're gonna be letting more in at the our end.

Jol has got himself the sack...and he will get the sack. It's a shame, we all love him and we want him to be great here and stay with us, but his stubborn insistence on this key issue has fucked us...and fucked us good and proper.

We are in a very serious predicament, there is going to have to be a lot of introspection/soul searching and psychological healing to raise us out of it.

And Cerny lets in three. None of which he, Robinson, or any keeper in the league could have done a thing about short of a miracle save.

But Robinson affects the entire team's confidence. You exclude the possibility that it could be the other way around.

Comedy gold.

I don't know what that has to do with the point I made, and my guess is neither do you.

If I'd thought that was the case, I would have said so.

Seriously, WTF is happening! Before the season began, i really thought we'd bought well, played well in pre-season games and we ready to hit the premiership top 4 or 5........but now!

Damn man, this sucks! Where's the friggin passion in our players, everyones quick to blame Jol and yeah he has screwed up the tactics for a lot of games this season so far, BUT what about the players themselves!!! Why is that we can't have a team of players that will do anything to win or at least battle and fight back, but our boys just seem way too complacent!!

I know we had a piss poor strat last season too - but this time we're conceding a whole bunch of goals and our defence is all over the shot.

Dawson and Kid Kaboul just can't seem to gel, there's no leader in midfield and the 'super' strikeforce is way off form!!!

ARRRRGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!:bang:

Anyone have a sinking feeling? Cos after that shower of shit, I've lost all belief that the players are playing for Jol.

Forget Europe, I'll take survival.

I could see in the first home game after the story broke that the board had lost faith in the manager that the team ethic and spirit had gone.
Very sad but JOL was a dead man walking after 2 games.
For the good of the club Levy has no alternative but to Sack him. The stupid idiot has no other move now after undermining the manager.
If Ramos had taken the job JOL (the best manager we have had since Burkinshaw) would have gone months ago.

Daniel Levy

Levy you say! He is the stupid **** that brought this all on us. The moment Ramos was caught on camera talking to slobbo he undermined his manager with no plan b. We now have a manager that is definitely going, knows he is going, a team that knows the same and actually there is no one to come is. So he is a caretaker in all but name, whole fiasco brought about by Levy - there is your hope!

The point you appeared to be making was that Robinson was the root of all our woes. What other connotation could one put on:

Please explain to me and everyone else how this does anything but lay all our defensive woes on Robinson. Go on, go on, go on. This was the point you made, or tried to make, was it not? Are you now saying it wasn't?

Go on, give us all a laugh. Go on, go on, go on.

Don't assume others are as obtuse as you are; that's one mighty assumption, right there. I wouldn't lump them all in the same basket, personally.

No desire to waste precious energy explaining things to you, SS57, I don't think any sort of guidance can help you. You fail; every time.

don't think we will get relegated, but not only is 5th not going to happen but 6th also is looking that way, in which case it will be a massive failure with the squad and money spent. The cups are looking more and more important as this shitty season goes on and WE MUST get in Europe again or it is goodbye Jol and I would be 100% behind that decision, no excuses with the squad and money spent.

Even though Jol could get the sack anytime now ( Sammy Lee has already left Bolton and he had a far worse squad and no money to spend ), I still don't mind giving Jol the chance to at least save/rescue this season and his Job, which is where the FA and UEFA Cup will be so important now.

Winning one of those is probably the only way I can see Jol not getting let go, as 6th is looking out of our reach with the head start we are giving :-|

Don't be daft. Even if we carry on playing like we are now we still won't get relegated, there are some truely awful teams in the league, where as we are just not a team. The individual talent will keep us well safe of the drop.

Problem this season when compared to last season is that going on a run is going to be much more difficult as so many of the 'mid-table' teams have improved dramatically. We will get better and I can see us winning a few and the belief returning. King will return, Berba will start firing, Lennon will stretch his legs and we will be tough to stop once we are rolling.

Also come January I fully expect us to sign some midfield quality and some leadership. I expect Riquelme and I hope for a battling centre midfield powerhouse. Another left sided player wouldn't be bad either. I can still see us finishing top 8, with a possible cup win, wouldn't be at all bad with the mess that has been going on this season.

It doesn't help that we've played a lot of the fixtures we're notoriously bad at during the start of this season. In the same fixtures last time out, our away form is actually better, isn't it?

Team - Last year/This year

Sunderland(Sheffield United) - Lose/Lose
Fulham - Draw/Draw
Manchester United - Lose/Lose
Bolton - Lose/Draw
Liverpool - Lose/Draw
Newcastle - Lose/Lose.

So we've got 2 more points based on the same away fixtures last year.

I told you I'd find a positive.

I'm despondent and bewildered.

More than a quarter of the season gone and only 1 win.

That ain't good whichever way you look.

It also seems like every time we run out on the pitch we nearly always let in 3 goals,
two of which are usually sloppy.

People harp on about last year, but something is different this year. It's in the players attitude, where's the will to fight? Any pressure and they fold like a pack of cards. They don't fill me with confidence one iota.

it reminds me of those pleat/gross years.

I have 100% lost faith in jol as a result. The people buying the players also have a lot to answer for, but jol is massively underachieving with what he has at his disposal.
I think the players have also lost faith in Jol.

To be honest most of the team need a good kick up the arse and I seriousley don't think Jol is the man to do it anymore, I love Martin Jol for the man that he is but for the good of the club and it's premiership future, he has to go tomorrow, no if's and butt's we need to move on and get the man Mourinho.
Yep, that would do it............

You've got Robbo, Jenas, Bent, Defoe, Hudd and Lennon all with confidence shot to pieces. Dawson, Kaboul and Chimbonda clowning around at the back and making school boy error after school boy error. Berbatov who looks like he couldn''t give a shit. Bale looking like he'll be out for a good few weeks. Journeyman sub rate midfielders in Zokora, TT, Malbranque.

Where's the hope?

New management and coaches...............
