In-form Academy striker Tomas Pekhart looks set for a run out in our reserve clash against Fulham on Wednesday night.

    source - official site

The Czech youngster bagged two goals for our Under-18s at the weekend and was on target last time he played for the reserves in the friendly against Lens.

Clive Allen will take a young squad to Motspur Park with the senior experience coming from Reto Ziegler, Phil Ifil and Jamie O'Hara.

"Fulham away is normally a tight game, difficult opponents, we're taking a young squad and I'm looking for a similar performance to the one we produced against Villa last time out," said development coach Clive.

That was a fine 3-2 win against a Villa side packed with Premiership experience and maintained the lads' unbeaten start to the campaign.

Squad: Burch, Button, Ifil, Mills, Ziegler, Lewis, McKenna, O'Hara, Daniels, Barcham, Pekhart, Hughton, Martin, Livermore, Hutton.

    The Czech Wayne Rooney!!

I thought Dixon was the Irish Wayne Rooney, That means we have two.

i dont think peckhart is anything like the style of rooney its just cos he is young. i think the similarities end there, havnt seen him myself but from what i have heard and read he is more of a dean ashton style of player, its funny when a young player gets the tag 'the new xxxx' he never ends up been any good, what was aron lennon the new?? he was always a player in his own right as i remember, cant remember rooney been a new anything either.

    Well put.

    Any news on Dixon's injury?
  6. ParkLaneUpper
Career threatening I heard, a shame as he actually looked quite good.

I don't think being called the new someone prevents you from being any good . Pekhart may well turn out to be a first team striker. Positive thinking.

i think it sometimes does by making a bigger burden on young shoulders, i agree peckhart might make the grade and once he does make the 1st team then we can look at him again but for someone to mention him in the same breath as rooney is crazy, rooney is a star of world football and scored at international level and champ league, peckhart is trying to establish himself in the reserve team, its like saying ian beale is the new richard branson, until it is proved it means fuck all. anyway dont want to be arsey with ya mate jus my opinion differs. no offence meant.

For reference only... Pekhart has scored a brace in just about every game he has played... hinting he's current level of skill MAY be above his age group , i.e. Under-18's.

He's very tall ...bit like Crouch, but with Berbatov's ball control)... needs to beef up a bit ...he should talk to Hudd : ) ... but he has been definately standing out of the crowd since he joined us ...

Innit great to be able to have our own "goal-machine" Clive Allen coaching him ?

... question is ... where is Barney these days ???

By the way, for all those of you who have not yet picked up a copy of Ally's "ode to Jol".... you're missing out on a very entertaining and well-written record of the rise of our beloved THFC under the Club's new management....

    highly recommended !!!

Calling any young player "the new such and such" can often be a burden. An exception to this is our own Thud. Calling him the new 'kaiser' is a stroke of genius, though he looks like a new and improved version of Carrick to me.

That's very bad news. Lets hope he can make a full recovery. I've never seen him play but he sounds like he had bags of potential.

My only point was that a player will not be any better or worse for what people say about him. Incidentally, Pekhart was only compared with Rooney because he's a conspicously gifted young player, not because he plays like Rooney.

Feel bad for Dixon....Hope he recovers!
