1:1 against Ipswich in a training groundd friendly, but the line-up is interesting:

Forecast (L Butcher, 46), Riley (Casey, 46), Archibald-Henville, Martin, Hughton, Davis (Hutton, 46), Livermore (Parrett, 46), Maghoma, Rose, Olsen, Dawkins.

Not the strongest, but even so it is exciting to see a lad that age getting a run out at reserve level.

Still no joy for Taarabt spotters though...

No Dervitte. After 20 minutes last week, you'd have thought he might be up to some more game time today.

Meanwhile, on the subject of the fabulously named Troy Archibald-Henville, didn't Clive Allen say that he played against Marlon Harewood for the ressies last week, and did very well against a Premiership player? If so, this may be one reason (in addition to our defensive injury crisis) why Juande was prepared to put him on the bench on Sunday.

Yep it's a bit worrying that Dervitte didn't play - hope he's okay.

It seems a few of that team today have first-team potential - just hope one at least can make it.

good to see Rose and Parret in there getting a game! both have had a bit of hype about them and both still young... lets hope they can keep improving and force there way into the proper reserve team in the near future

A training ground friendly with subs coming on for a half?

Looks to me as if Ramos wanted to have a good look at the youngsters. If so then it's good to see he's running the rule over all aspects of the club.

Something tells me if he sees someone he likes they might get fast-tracked.

Eddie, I've seen a few reports about most of those but do you know much about Rose, Parrett and Olsen as I haven't noticed them feature in the reserves before?

My knowledge of the academy lads is based on others reports, and I am increasingly out of touch with the rezzies (Orient is a bugger of a place for me to get to.)

Rose has featured a few times now for the rezzies and seems to be impressing. He was highly rated at Leeds, so is likely to have an advocate in Poyet. Given that, and our perennial problems on the left, he could be the one to make the breakthrough.

Parrett, the lad we took of QPR, is still a schoolboy, but is a regular for the U18s.

Olsen, as far as I am aware, has yet to feature in a competitive reseve game. Spursodyssey are unimpressed by his performances for the U18s.

In some cases, notably the permamently rehabilitating Jamie Davis, only playing 45 mins may be down to fitness, but there is certainly an element of using this an opportunity to look at lads.

Cheers for that.

It seemed to me that the new lads, such as Rose and Parrett that played in this reserve game, not only came from the academy but play in positions that Ramos might be looking at, e.g, left wing and central midfield.

Seeing as the rest of the Spurs staff could have watched them anytime this season it seemed too much of a concidence that this game was staged just after the arrival of a new manager.

I don't know if our current crop of kids are anywhere near the first team squad yet but I would like to see our youth policy succeed as I've always envied the Ajax style model and this is the closest I have seen us get to it.
Roll on the new training complex too.

My best mate used to teach Parrett

'brilliant footballer, but one of the biggest arseholes I have ever met'

sounds perfect. Roy Keane went a long way

Most kids who are wicked at something tend to be full of themselves. We had two lads in our year who were on Palace and Millwallls books respectively. They were both complete wankers.

IN our school we have 6 people playing for york U-16, 2 for Leeds U-16, and one for Newcastle U-16. (but our school are among the top 16 of the nation) But only about 5 are gits, apart from that you have a druggy a good friend of mien who has been out for a year and a half through injury, and is just beginning to recover, and we have a person who claims to be the next Gerrard. (we will see about that)
