Clive Allen was pleased with the performances of debutants Ben Alnwick and Adel Taarabt as our reserves fought out a goalless draw in a friendly against Norwich on Monday night.

Goalkeeper Ben made two fine one-on-one saves to keep lively home strikers Ian Henderson and Ryan Jarvis at bay at Carrow Road while Adel produced flashes of skill playing just off the front man and an eye for a pass.

Development coach Clive said: "Ben made two fabulous saves in the first half and they were really the only two chances they created, but when he was called upon he made two excellent stops, one with his foot, one diving to his left.

"He's started with a clean sheet and that's good for him and for his confidence.

"For Adel, obviously there is a big difference to what he's used to but you could see he has some quality touches and a good range of passing.

"It's been an ideal introduction for both of them and good to get them in the group and get a game under their belts.

"Overall, it was exactly what we wanted as we prepare to get back into the swing of things in the league - a high level, high intensity game on a quality playing surface at Carrow Road."

    Injuries

Clive Allen reported that Dorian Dervite will undergo scans on Tuesday to determine the damage in his right knee after he was injured in Monday night's friendly at Norwich City.

The promising young centre-back who has already made his first team debut this term was stretchered off in the 19th minute at Carrow Road following a tackle with Luke Daley. He limped out of the ground on crutches after the goalless draw.

Meanwhile, Tomas Pekhart was stretchered off in the 30th minute with concussion after a clash of heads with Canaries defender Tom Miller.

Development coach Clive revealed: "Dorian said he felt something in his knee when he was tackled, so he will have a scan tomorrow (Tuesday) to see if there is any damage. That was very disappointing.

"The other injury was a completely accidental clash of heads with Tomas Pekhart - he was concussed, went to hospital as a precaution but was able to travel home.

"It was a great shame because it was a game played in the right spirit. We're disappointed because we've picked up a couple of injuries but these things happen in football."

Disappointing to see injuries to two of our more promising youngsters, hopefully they're back in action soon.

Sorry to see these players injured, just hope while they are out we can bring in the new Ledley King, must be a promising young player in our youth system. we always seem to bring them in every eight years.
back in 1991 we had Sol Campbell, then in 1999 we had Ledley King, who is the next 2007?
