Response to losing Alderweireld

What would be the best solution to Alderweireld leaving?

I really like Toby and hope he stays and signs a new contract.

BUT on the other hand Sanchez shows a lot of potential and has already said he’s happy here as playing and it’s going well for him.

So unless we’ll play three centre backs again someone is gonna miss out...

Sometimes you just have to freshen parts of your team up, as I said I really like Toby but Sanchez has done well and will continue to improve so wouldn’t be as bad a loss as say last season.

I would probably bring another centre back in if Toby does leave though as you can’t leave yourself short in that position especially if Dier needed in midfield.

Foyth has looked really good and ccv has turned it around at ipswich. With dier i think we're fine.

If Alderweireld left and I hope he doesn't... I would like another left footed CB.

Even if Alderweireld stayed I still feel we need another left CB for Vertonghen.

Do we really need to go back to a back 3? We've had some of our best results with just 2 centre backs.

I think the lack of Toby has been a little bit of a blessing in that it has pushed us towards a back 4 again. Now Lamela is back and Moura is here there really is no need to go back. As long as we have a defensive midfielder they can split the centre backs anyway.

I love Toby and I hope he stays. We need to rotate at the back so they will all get game time. However Sanchez has done great in his first season and will only get better. If Toby leaves we need another quality centre back to add to the competition. That replacement doesn't need to hit the ground running though because we've shown how good we are with Sanchez and Vertonghen.

Do do do, Sanchez and Vertonghen

I believe if we had a fully fit Toby for Juventus we would of got through to the next round. Two lapse in concentration, can't see Toby doing that.

I agree though tbf Toby did have two lapses of concentration and against Rochdale of all teams.

He did say fully fit, against Rochdale he’d only come back from injury and wasn’t match fit imo.

With Vertonghen, Sanchez, Dier, Foyth and Carter-Vickers who is showing great form at Ipswich I don’t think we would replace him
