Starting to make more sense now if true:

Ricardo Pereira to Tottenham is pretty much dead, as new clause is claimed

But today, newspaper O Jogo reveals that the local media has been wrong all this time, as Pereira’s real release clause is €37.5m.

They claim the €25m figure had been active until July 15th, and was increased by 50% since then due to another clause on his contract.

It was pretty obvious that clause was bullshit a long time ago. That makes a lot of sense.

This was the first player I thought of when Herc brought up reviving interest in players we previously considered in the window. Something like that being mentioned when Aurier is still in the balance this late seems logical. That's assuming Aurier is actually in the balance though, so we'll see.

He said we're getting Aurier why would we revisit another RB?

He said in all caps, twice, that the transfer working out was strictly his opinion at the moment. Not saying I don't trust the ITK's, but saying one way or another regarding the work permit is still pure speculation. That being said, RB is a position we've been looking at the entire window, it's one that's a high priority, and Pereira fits the bill for revisiting a player that's been considered previously in the window. It's obvious we rate him, and he would be a solid plan B if the Aurier work permit falls through.

Every ITK has said Aurier is progressing, no one has said it's a done deal, because no one knows what's going to happen with the work permit. It makes perfect sense that we would begin enquiring and preparing in case it doesn't work out, considering reinforcing that position is so important.
