Richarlison will miss the first Premier League game of the season after receiving a one-match ban due to a flare incident in May.

The 25-year-old forward threw a blue flare during former club Everton's crucial 1-0 win over Chelsea at Goodison Park.

Clearly a player with flare!

This is morally wrong, players punishment impede their team.

He should be given a bigger fine but his new team shouldn't receive ANY punishment.

Would be the same if he got a red card on his last game for Everton.

I always thought it was a bit weird that he wasn't given a ban straight after the incident. Pretty cut and dried case, you can't be throwing flares back into a crowd.

Would dislike this if it was a punishment for regular on the pitch play as part of the team, but this is very particular to the individual themselves so actually should follow them and not be attached to the team they were representing. It's a fair cop.

Yeah because again an innocent party is paying a price for someone else's wrongdoing.

It was the players wrong doing.
They player then gets the fine and ban.

Only thing annoying about this is how long the FA took to hand this out.

Yeah but the player will still get paid, we're without an asset for an important game for something nothing to do with us.

Bans for a player commiting offences in your colours is fair enough but there are other ways of punishing a player without hurting the club.

Everton had 5 matches remaining after the incident took place, so how is it reasonable that the FA waited until the end of the season to confirm the punishment? Would they have taken so long had it not been the star player of a team fighting to avoid relegation?
