Don’t see much him in tbh. No great pace or dribbling ability, which are facets we lack.

He is good at getting himself in goal scoring positions but Dempsey was good at that and I wouldn’t want him back

Not a dribbler in the sense he doesn’t do a bunch of tricks, but very attack minded and in the mold of Son, but more combative.

Watch his Brazilian tape...how he lacks pace, directness and guile are beyond me.

To a certain degree. But being a top striker is more than just finishing ability - it's an instinct of knowing where to run to, perseverance when things don't go your way, playing to your and the team's strengths and probably luck.
Good thing that Richarlison is good at those parts of the game. There is a reason he gets a lot of chances away. Its just composure that he lacks, that can be taught.

I haven't seen enough of Richarlison to be sitting here saying I want him over Zaha but what I would say about Wilf is that I'm still not sold on him even though he's been apparently so good for Palace this season.

My issue with Zaha is that he looks like he wants as many touches of the ball as possible before he finally decides to shoot or pass/cross. It's like the concept of having just 1 or 2 touches is alien to him and I fear that on a quick break he'd be holding onto the ball too long. He's a super skilful, quick winger but I see a selfish mindset in his play and I'm not sure if he'd be able to shake that and become more of a team player with us. Don't get me wrong, you want your flair players to beat their man and make an impact so in that sense I'm sure he'd be good, I'm just wary of his final decision.

Richarlison looks similar to me in that sense but he is younger and could be more coachable in that sense. The best wingers of this type are the ones that beat their man repeatedly in a game but then make the right decision when it comes to passing or shooting, that's what we need. Pace and trickery is great but I think it's less about that and more about being smart and I think Poch himself has alluded to this recently when asked about buying quick players.

Zaha hasn't just started playing well this season, he's been playing like this for at least eighteen months. I know the competition isn't that high but he's been Palaces player of the year for the last two seasons. I know what you mean about him doing an extra trick or taking an extra touch sometimes, but I think he's have better passing options with us as Kane, Dele and Eriksen always show for the ball.

How old is he?
Is he a one season wonder?
Is he standing out because the rest of Watford’s team isn’t very creative?
Seems like a decent player and wouldn’t say no but his finishing doesn’t seem amazing so Poch may need to improve that.

Agreed on Zaha and I’d go as far to say he’s been playing like that for the last 4 years. More productive the last 18 months though I agree.

Watford have a knack of producing 1 season wonders. Where is Vydra these days? Derby County I think. Oghalo was unplayable for 1 season along with Deeney but they're not exactly lighting it up now. Not at all sure about Richarlison tbh.

Looks like a pure striker in that video. Nothing wrong with that. Appears to be quite talented. But do we really want to spend 40 million on Harry's backup?

Yeah, rather buy another VJ/Llorente and then moan about how we don't have any decent backup for HK.

So you're saying we should spend 40 million on Harry's backup?
I think we're in a rock and a hard place.

We have tried 2 like for likes in Kane's backup. The first a young Dutch international who has scored goals in the Dutch league and 1 in 2 at international level.

Then we tried an experiecned striker who has scored goals in Spain, Italy and his one season in the Prem.

Neither have worked out.

So the other option is a different type of striker who can play inside forward and up front. Like Son the abilty to play more than one position allows more regular football.

So if we sold Llorente, Janssen, N'Koudou and Sissoko I would be expecting us to be open to spending a fair amount on the Kane backup.

Totally agree if you're talking about the kind of player who can play 2 positions (à la Martial). But is Richarlison that kind of player? Honest question as all I have seen are highlight videos which show him doing great stuff, but all of it as an out-and-out striker.

Not going to pretend to know too much about him. Seen him do a lot of good work on the wings cutting inside which suggests he can play in the Son role when we play 3 behind the striker.

He’s played wide loads of times for Watford this season

Thanks. Makes me feel a lot better about the possibility of us spending a sh!tload of money on him.

Of course, one could go and watch a lot more Watford games.....
