Good for him. He's in great shape and it beats getting fat like the rest of them.

"Good on him" - no, not really imo. Ridiculous that this guy gets an "in" into a sport that people work and train relentlessly all of their lives to make it in, just because he famously kicked ball for a career.

They should train harder or know better people then.

It's almost as if he needs more publicity. He's football's equivalent of Richard Branson.

I don't know why everyone is complaining, you get to watch Rio Ferdinand have the shit beaten out of him

Queued behind him at Lakeside on Saturday in a soft furnishings outlet. He is extremely tall and will have a heck of a reach on him. Stats say he is 6' 2", but he seemed a lot taller than that. Didn't check out his footwear to see if he was height assisted - too busy checking out his lady...

so the old boy network is better than hard work and talent?

I jest but in all seriousness...

I get what you lot are saying and would agree but he hasn't been given anything yet. The article says he will try and attempt to be become a pro.

This will last 5 minutes or he will become another Curtis woodhouse.

The guy has lost his wife and also his mother in the space of two years, if this is what he needs to do to help him work it out, give him a break. I've always found the hate for him so unfounded, he's such an inoffensive bloke.

I don't think the criticism is personal and I'm sure a lot would claim that lots of people have had shit things going on in their lives...
