Tottenham are close to agreement over a deal for Barcelona teenager Riqui Puig.

The 18-year-old has failed to agree terms with the Spanish champions over a new contract and is keen to move to London and link up with Mauricio Pochettino.

Puig, who turns 19 in August, has been training with Barcelona's first team and made his debut for Barcelona's B team in February coming on as a substitute for former Arsenal midfielder Marcus McGuane against Gimnastic de Tarragona.

A playmaker, Puig has interest from other European sides after impressing in the UEFA Youth League final win over Chelsea but is particularly interested in Tottenham.

A grown man being terrible at spelling or a grown man who had never cleaned under his foreskin?

SC has many more insane things/members ? than poor spelling...

The great thing is I know which SC’er you’re talking about re: the foreskin cleaning! ???

Some comments from Barca fans on Reddit of all places, but they seem to know their stuff:

Ffs

Age at which they were promoted to FC Barcelona first team :
Puyol 21,5 Busquets 20 Valdes 20 Pedro 21 Thiago 19,5 Sergi Roberto 21,5 Rafinha 21,5
(Xavi Iniesta Messi special cases, GOATs, ~17/18)

Just hope he doesn't go. He seems to have a higher ceiling than even Alena

He is our best Masia player right now
Say thanks to Pep Segura and this board

This mf Segura wants physical players. Only if he shared vision with Guardiola like he shares first name.

That's a shame because he's looking like he can become a good player. I miss having small technical midfielders.

The fucking pep segura is the cancer who got us in this shit situation, I don't care about trophies if it's against our DNA

If he goes to Tottenham (or anywhere) it's just for money. I mean, he trained in the first team with Messi, Suarez, Iniesta and just have 18 years and no even play in Barça B.
Yes, Bartomeu have horrible and stupid relations with La Masia, but things like this, Pablo Moreno, Mboula is not he's fault. IMO

I personally would not blame him. The last La Masia product to be part of the first time on a grand scale was Sergi Roberto and he is 26. Players recently seem to consistently fail to integrate when moving from Juvenil A to Barça B.
Furthermore, as stated by others in the sub, when a team like Tottenham is offering you first team football in one of the best leagues in the world and the other option is to possibly play in the Spanish third division no matter how much passion you have for a club your head will most certainly be turned.
This is not the players’ fault for wanting to leave but rather the club’s for creating the conditions for it to be happening.

If they sign him, I'm fucking done

Everyday becomes more embarassing and pathetic.
Dembouz one day,Puig another.
This club hurts me more than my life.

Very sad another young talent would want to downgrade clubs just to get better short-term wages. It's not as if he'll get a chance to play there anyway. Why not sign a new deal at Barca, work your way up via Barca B or loans to other Spanish sides and see if you have what it takes to be a 1st team player?

Spurs are doing what we used to be doing 10 years ago, sad times have come.

Sounds like a more hyperbolic version of our youth thread.

I'm going to be so mad if we don't sign this little piggy. We can't miss out on a name with such potential! Is he any good? Who cares?!

If he’s better than our crop of midfielders of the same age/ within a couple of years then I’m all for it. Looks like a technically proficient player with a quick mind, but of course things change when it becomes men’s football.

As I understand it we don’t really have any young playmaker CMs coming though. TOB certainly is not that, while all I read about Skipp is that he’s a good defensive midfielders.

Reading those comments makes me think it must be really tough being a Barcelona fan.

Not really. Modric's thighs are thicker than this little twiglet's torso.

Do I imagine it right Barca fans thinking this kid would play a role in our 1st team from the start?

Kid has some potential but gosh, he would not survive a single PL game with the body he has at this moment.
