He would be a great squad signing. Remember we need a big squad especially Champions league and all the other comps. We only have 21 senior players right now plus God knows when / if Lamela will be 100%.

Definitely have him. Fact he'd be fighting with Son for a starting spot would mean he wouldn't be able to put the type of performances he did last season in. Assuming he buys into Pochs philosophy I think it would be a really good signing.

Lamela (and Barkley, should we sign him) can take on that role, although not yet to the same standard that Eriksen plays it.
Lamela is going to be out until January and Alli will be suspended for the first 3 CL matches. Obviously we buy for the long term but it's a major concern. Barkley also doesn't possess creativity in the sense an Eriksen or Lamela does.

Barkley's creativity is possibly his most underrated asset. Most chances created in Europe amongst U23s last season.

If his transfer fee is £35m and with his high wages, then I'd rather we use part of the money saved on increasing the wages of the current players that we want to keep.

Has looked pretty average tonight. IF people have a go at Eriksen for bottling tackles they need to check out the lead up to Arse's equaliser...

To be fair if he's looking at leaving, he's not going to risk that chance by going into 50/50 tackles.

And we're complaining about Danny Rose? If you are on the pitch you should be 100% committed. He should be putting on a show not playing at half effort.

If he's not motivated properly maybe Shakespeare should not be playing him, or maybe, he understands that Mahrez offers far more going forward and not going into 50/50s than some other player on the pitch and him being on the bench. The world isn't black and white, and you can't judge a player on one performance.

So, if we were looking at King or Mahrez as the PL alternative attacking option, what's your preference?

Ive never watched king play a full game so its hard to comment. Mahrez is exciting but does he fit with the team ethos? If not then we shouldnt sign him.

Not sure what game you guys were watching. Was the best player on the pitch second half and tenacious as fuck.

Would be a dream signing

Oxlade Chamberlain you mean???

Because mahrez was toilet paper . One good pass in 90 minutes.

If we paid anymore than 10 million it would be a mugging

This is the second most wrong you've been since you said you'd eat you hat if Kane made it with us.

In this market, anything under £50m would be a steal. He was massively marked during Leicester's title winning season and still played incredible. Playing alongside Kane, Alli and Eriksen, he'd get more time and space and be devastating.

Amazing to me people can't see this

I'm amazed by the indifference and negativity that some people on this thread have shown to Mahrez.

I think I would prefer him to almost any other player we have been realistically linked with. He is an incredibly gifted player. I think he could be our new Ginola.

There are also quite a few misconceptions that seem to be going around about him. The title winning season was certainly not his only decent season, because he was also brilliant the year before. The idea that he's lazy doesn't quite ring true either. Leicester won the league against all odds through, in a large part, to the consistently enourmous effort of the team, of which Mahrez was a huge part.

I think Mahrez could be a signing that almost goes under the radar, but ends up being a club legend

Fingers crossed.

I think people have a natural dislike for him after we lost the title to them and at the back of people's minds that is influencing things. The same reason a lot of people struggle to admit when Chelsea/Arsenal players are quality. He wouldn't be my first choice, but Mahrez is far from a bad, one season player.

I don't understand it either. If we'd have got him at the end of last season instead of Sissoko, we'd have won the league. Also, if we'd have signed him at the end of last season, 90% of our fans would have been delighted. He had a poor season last year in a poor side who had serious issues. People forget how bad Hazard was the season before last but he propelled the Chavs to the title.

At Leicester he gets no time on the ball and is still amazing, at us, with defenders marking Alli, Eriksen and Kane, he could be special.

The lazy trope is just bollocks too. Watch the game tonight, he is a tenacious guy who would fit in fine.
